Kato Daiki – “Move over Shikamaru!”
Kato watched on as the final teammate went through and destroyed Satoshi’s clone. She did fairly well and he had to give her props for not fighting as directly as both Tahekiko and he had. Once the fight was over Satoshi spent no time in jumping to the next training session, of course through in another tease at Kato’s obvious distaste for repetitive training practices such as 1v1 fights on the first day.
It seems simple enough, formulate a ambush and possible execute it. The only downside was Kato had no idea how the enemy (Satoshi) would be traveling if they indeed had to act upon there ambush. He never really intended to be the first to give a command but it was just something that happened. ”Alright you heard him, lets go!” and with that Kato was rushing off to the nearby wooded area, constantly looking back to see if the other two genin were following behind him. Time was limited but staying on budget wouldn’t be the hardest part, it would be dividing the time between tasks. Already Kato was making a mental check list of what he gathered from the two fights he witnessed. He gathered that Nadra was more prone to keeping her distance, additionally she had the ability to produce clones of her own and effectively use substitution jutsu. Tahekiko on the other hand was probably the fastest of the bunch when it came to reflexes. Sadly that was really all Kato could gather from the two fights he saw, in all honestly they didn’t do any more then run and punch, Kato’s fight as slightly different in the aspect that he had additional obstacles he had to overcome to reach his target, mainly a wall shooting out of the ground.
After Kato (and hopefully the group) was decently far enough from Satoshi, he began giving simple commands, thinking of what to next at the same time. What I’ve gathered is the fact we are all used to hand-to-hand.” He started off stating the obvious, hopefully getting the ball rolling for any of his other teammates if they were thinking of plans as well. ”There are three of us meaning our best options would be to cover three different viewpoints.” The plan was starting to come together in Kato’s mind. ”Nadra since you’ve displayed a decent amount of skill with clones I think it’d be best if you cover the skies and high ground in the trees. I recommend you produce 3 clones. One would look for an aerial approach, two will scan through the leafs in the trees in case he tries to jump us where we can see him, and then you scan the rear through the trees in case he plans on flanking us.” The view of the trees were closing in on the trio.
His attention that was seconds ago on Nadra was now sent over towards Tahekiko. ”Your gonna be on the ground with me. That root that you saw reach out from the ground is gonna make a return.” Kato strategy didn’t seem as stupid as he himself thought it would be at this point. ”We’re going to hide in the brush, any foliage thick enough really. I’m going to take the right side, and you’re going to be on left. Your quick hands, feet, and even eyes are going to be key on this.” he paused for a second to let it all sink in to Tahekiko’s mind. ”Im going to have a pile of loose dirt right next to me. I can perform a jutsu that basically will create a thick fog of dirt right on Satoshi’s position. The only downside is, while I can still see through it, you probably won’t be able to. This is where your quick eyes come into play. You must know exactly where Satoshi is before you rush into my cloud of dirt. If you miss his position completely then he is likely to get through. Once again he paused for a second. ”Basically the second you see my dirt fog appear, rush in and go for the attack, stay extremely close to him because once he is gone you will likely not be able to find him in the cloud. While you are attacking I will trigger my earthly snare, attempt to wrap his legs and then run in and help you attack him.” Kato then moved his focus towards Nadra’s position again. ”Nadra. Once we begin fighting I want you to only join in and fight with us after he comes into focus. Additionally I want two of your clones to stay where they are and look out for any of Satoshi’s clones if he tries to trick us with the first enemy. I don’t expect him to use any more then another clone since this is just a training session so if those two clones end up seeing another Satoshi, have them instantly attack him (the clone) as soon as they can.” for the most part that was the plan, he only had a few finer details to discuss.
Kato now turned his head once more and focused on the forest up ahead. ”Now we don’t want to announce our attack since this is still an ambush so I have an idea. When we are ready to attack I will produce a bird call, however I don’t want anyone to execute the actual plan until exactly 3 seconds after the bird call, it may keep Satoshi guessing a little bit more. Keep in mind that this bird call will come from a simple clone I will have positioned in the trees since it will be very suspicious to hear a bird call from the ground. Now don’t depend on my clone staying in for the fight, once that call is made that clone is gone.” It wasn’t the most extensive plan but it was the quickest he could think of within the short run from point A to point B. ”I know it’s a lot to take it so quickly but does everyone know what we’re doing? Once we hide, we can’t make any sounds until the plan is put into action.” Kato reached the wooded area and quickly began scanning an area.
He couldn’t spend a lot of time looking for a spot so he took a spot that looked like it received the most traffic. Kato pointed his finger at a bush on the left side of a small trail, indicating to Tahekiko that this would be a good spot for him to hide. He did the same for Nadra, this time pointing up in the trees and even silently suggesting a few points (once again with his finger) where she could position her clones. Once they were all hidden Kato did a small spot check and then produced an extremely weak clone which ran quietly into the trees, not going anywhere near Nadra though. Once the clone was gone Kato retreated into a bush where he would quickly begin digging into the ground with a kunai, producing a pile of loose dirt. Once the pile of dirt was complete he seethed the kunai and got to work feeding chakra into the ground and position his roots under the trail.
Kato made sure to put his roots into position as soon as he could and then made sure to weaken the chakra output as much as he could until the attack. Hopefully this would prevent Satoshi from detecting any chakra underground. He wasn’t sure if Satoshi could see chakra or not but he did know that most jounin at the very least can detect the use of chakra.
Something else hit Kato just that second, it was a memory from a year and a half ago. Satoshi...could basically become….invisible! Kato had forgotten all about that and now would quickly have to rework his plan but not too much that it would confuse his teammates who he couldn’t talk to due to them hiding. An idea then popped into his head. If he managed to cover Satoshi in enough dirt then maybe seeing the extremely fast ninja would easy in the case he did become virtually invisible. It was settled, if Kato detected that Satoshi was being unfair and going invisible he would have to somehow cover him in dirt, perhaps while he was covered in the dirt swarm jutsu.
