Zedong first looked out at the forest, which covered dozens upon dozens of miles and was quite dense. Then he looked down the cliff, they were about two hundred feet up, soon to be double that if the launch pads worked as intended. Lastly he looked to his right, and saw mixed reactions from his class mates, some nervous, others eager. Zee held his composure pretty well. He tightened the straps on his backpack, which held everything he owned, loosing that on the decent would be bad. There would be no alternative route, he would have to get it back, and that would cost time, which would effect his grade. Loosing it was not an option. Taking a wide stance he griped his spear in both hands, pointing the head in the direction he intended to go, feeling out the wind. Never before had he been put in this type of circumstance, but if he thought of himself as the arrow, he would hit is mark.
The pad launched him unexpectedly, and it took him a few seconds to regain his composure, twenty seconds would be all this took. The wind rushed by him, blocking out all of the sounds around him, but he knew full well that the others were yelling. He remained silent and locked in on a single tree. It was a tall one, maybe ninety feet tall, and six feet wide. Twelve seconds. Keeping the spear head forward helped him fly, putting him right where he needed to be. When he was close enough he shifted his weapon, aligning the blade so that it would meet the tree on his right. It made contact, slicing into the trunk and changing the course of his heading. Soon after that blade slipped free, sending him into a controlled spin. Six seconds. Quickly he found the next tree, and even though his current condition put a twist on things, he hit it again, changing course a second time. Three seconds. The next one would be the last, the blade sank deep and did not budge. Jerking to a sudden stop, he found himself hanging ten feet off the ground. "Well hot damn, that actually worked."
Drawing his weapon from the tree he let gravity do the rest and he landed on his feet. Taking a deep breath he began to take in his surroundings. He didn't see anyone around him, only a few woodland animals, not a single Grimm. "Well, lets see what we can find then." Zee wasn't sure which direction the ruins were in, but he figured if he just head straight he's figure it out eventually, and somewhere in between he would find a partner. Resting his spear across his shoulders he put one foot in front of the other, and started singing, "A-hunting we will go, a-hunting we will go, heigh-ho, the derry-o..."
