in a stressed situation, magic allows Verion to slow time down to think. the events that cause it would be being caught on the job, near death encounters and having a death threat issued to him. using this ability is incredibly taxing and can leave the user in a fatigued state if used for too long or often.

Ex. if Verion is caught in the middle of poisoning his mark's drink, temporal thought will give him an additional minuet to think before it starts effecting him. and the gift can only be used about once every other day before he enters a fatigued state for 12 to 36 hours, depending on how much it was used.

History: when Verion was a child, he was an extraordinary fellow. he lived on the streets with no family or real friends. he mad a living as a pickpocket until around his 15th birthday when his gift had developed. he then turned to a life of bloodshed. Verion is called the Mystery man because he never has taken a contract in person since he was 20, and he always wears a mask with a dark blue robe with hood.
normally he will have a apprentice study under him to be a new assassin, but the most recent one was executed for crime's against the city noble's and the city itself. now he's looking for a replacement.

as the dragon came closer, Paulnus started backing away. he might be tough, but he's nowhere near THAT tough. he saw that the didn't seem hungry and was simply watching. knowing this, he hoped to make a telepathic bridge betwen the two of them and try to avoid the slaughter of the village and himself.

Paulnus woke from a great sleep, he was in a new shard den. "this isn't my home, where in the deadzone am I?" he thought as he mustered enough power to have the shards around him into a new body. upon the completion of his new form he saw a town. a odd town that had a dragon hovering over it. looking around he saw that his Shard den was only a few outcrops of shardkind gem. "Well," he muttered "I better go see if that town has a map. Wonder how far from sanctum I am, or if it is still there?" he then approached a blue haired warrior that seemed to materialize out of nowhere. "Maybe he knows? lets see."

Shardkinds

Shardkinds are beings of pure energy concentrated into a what would normally be a mass of lifeless red crystals. they are more like spirits inhabiting a shell, or more like a crab. A spirit highly in-tuned with magic can make it's spirit physical by finding these crystals and using there magic to amplify themselves and control them like the nerves control our movements. they ore often seclusive and attack any outsiders that come too close to a shard den. a place where the red crystals grow naturally. the shards themselves are about as resistaint to impact as modern day steel and can become razor sharp. they tend to prefer a body type that they had in life rather than being a full shape-changer. Shardkinds can change there outer appendages to weapons or delicate graspers that are on par with the human hand. the crystal layer is about an inch thick and they cannot recover damaged shards, they can only be replaced with new ones. there is no way to kill one other than destroy all crystals it is using and trap there essence in a soul shard.
Shardkinds can only speak through telepathy and understand most modern languages enough to speak a non-native language in a broken dialect. they can speak there native dialect with ease.

Appearance:

Backstory: Paul was 22 when a portal appeared and sucked him in. he had lived for 10 years with a relatively peaceful people and died when a werewolf raid nearly killing all of the town. the pepole had been waiting for this so that they could become shardkind. they had passed there knowledge of how to do so to Paul and he is now standing protector of the shardkind colony.
Other: he specializes in hand to hand combat and makes his left arm particularly tough in combat and use's it like a shield.
