Clerics know all the spells available in the Cleric spell list. They can prepare a number of these spells equal to their Wisdom modifier + their Cleric level, as long as the spell is at most the same level as the spells slots the Cleric has access to. When using the spells they 'burn up' one of their available spell slots, which at level 1 would only be 2 1st level slots.

This means that a wise 1st level cleric can have several different spells all prepared at the same time, but will only get to use two of them before having to take a long rest.

This is different from how Sorcerers operate, since they both can have a number of spells learnt but don't exhaust the spell when it's cast, so they can keep firing off the same spell as long as they have the slots but can't change what spells they know until they level up.

And then the Warlocks just read the pretty words from their book of stolen magics, and so can fire off spells they've written down without needing to prepare them in any way.

Cleric: Knows all spells, must prepare them while resting before using, limited in uses by spell slots.
Wizard: Must learn spells (copy into spellbook when encountered or learnt when levelling up), must prepare them while resting before using, limited in use by spell slots.
Sorcerer: Must learn spells (memorise when levelling up), may use any learnt spell without preparation, limited in use by spell slots (but may generate extra spell slots without resting.)
Warlock: Must learn spells (learnt when levelling up), may use without preparation, limited by use in spell slots.
One of the best campaigns I was ever involved with had every character start at level 5, but at least 3 of those levels had to be cross-classed into 'Bard'; and no-one was allowed a Wisdom or Intelligence higher than 8, although the normal requirements for cross-classing were waived.

The Bumbling Band of Befuddled Bards.
...an entire campaign of healers? HOW CAN THAT BE KILLED?!
"As the jolly band of healers wandered across the merry meadow, they suddenly felt the ground lurch beneath their feet. Moments later they found themselves facing a large, reptilian face which seemed to be grinning in a way very reminiscent of the DM's vengeful gaze..."

@olcharlieboi "So which beds do you two want? I'll take which ever you all don't want, also don't mind me pulling things out of thin air"

"Ohh, you can do that too?" Temper responded, realising for the first time that items had been appearing in Charlie's hands in the same way they did hers whenever she slipped into thinking time to do things. Sometimes it was a little difficult to keep track of all the details in other people's poses and postures and minor things like magically appearing objects tended not to phase her.

Turning slightly the young woman gestured towards the unmade bed behind her, the one closest to the window. "I think I'll stick with this one, it seemed comfortable enough and the fresh air is good for me." She said, her tone friendly and casual, "As long as that's okay with you two?"

Temper waited for a moment to see whether either of the guys were going to respond, but as she did she caught a subtle hint of her odour. She hadn't washed since the previous morning, just before leaving home, and since then had lived at least two days of thinking time. The scent wasn't quite strong enough to be a major problem, but it was noticeable enough to have Temper reaching down into her luggage for her wash bag and towel.

"Sorry guys, I really need to wash up before breakf... I mean, dinner." She caught herself just in time. It might be a little strange to be waking up after a full night's sleep just in time for an evening meal for most people, but for Temper the only real problem was keeping track of which meals everyone else thought she was eating. Having said that, she hoped they'd be serving waffles. They were definitely her favouriter thing to eat after a long rest, but she knew they'd probably be serving something a little more dinner-like, especially for the first evening of the school year.

With that Temper quickly scampered across the room and into the bathroom. Washing was one of the few things she couldn't do in thinking time, since the water hung frozen in the air unless she spent time waiting for a bathtub to fill before slipping, and given how much she hated waiting for things showering was generally better use of her time.
