I would say a benefit or theme to mixing old and new concepts of magic versus technology, would be the discrimination of magic users and those who do not indulge in it. I suppose it would depend if we wanted magic to be a learned art for anyone or something genetic that could lean toward science fiction?

If we're going to touch on the discrimination of non-magic users, I'd say having magic as a genetic trait would be far more beneficial to the setting, what with certain families holding all the power with the inability of others to access the path to magic. It could lean towards science fiction or we could just have it as a preassumption within the setting, given that any investigation into the biology of magic would be rejected by the magician families, with the objective of perpetuating the secrets of magic. And there could be magicians who are in favor of it, making small breakthroughs.

Okay, sorry, I'm going off track here, hehe.
Oh, fuck. It's happening.

I would say for me modern fantasy entails the use of elements, magic, knights, etc in a modern realm that's easy to understand versus one utterly made up front scratch. (ex: no vamps, or the like, to me that's supernatural)

Well, consider me interested. It'll be fun to see a balance between the powerful arts of old and the advancing machinery of the modern ages; the ritualistic nature of magic and the clash with modern society and pragmatism. I'm up if you're up, any suggestion as to paths you want to take?
Huh. What kind of modern fantasy are we talking about here, if you don't mind me asking?
I... haven't got much experience with 1x1 or this kind of genre but I'd like to try. Y'know, to be open about this kind of stuff. Does it involve romance of some kind?

Also, I don't really mind if you want to escalate things, but I'd prefer it if we didn't. I suck at writing those kind of scenes and, believe me, I have tried. It always ends up in a constant repetition of overused terms that quickly lose their charm and the representations are not accurate nor particularly enjoyable for either party. It's a process with a reward that probably won't bear fruits for the reader; these kind of things (or any kind of text) are supposed to catch the reader's attention and I don't think my skill as a writer crosses that boundary.

Mexico City, National Palace

Statement by president Vicente Fox

I thank you all, reporters and representatives for coming here. It is a difficult time our neighbors to the north face. It has been said by a few radicals that cooperation with them will only bring disgrace to Mexico but I say that as we both share the ideals of liberty, democracy and happiness for the people of our nations, I find that false and reactionary. The Americans, and I refer to the continent as a whole, are a tough breed. We, born from revolution and independence from other nations; we, people that have found ourselves oppressed by many yet through history can be seen cooperating and pulling through it all. It is we, Americans, North, Central and South, that need to stand together the most, taking into consideration our heritage. Be it the indegenous people that bravely fought, be it immigrants that rebelled from a king, be it just people that wished for a better life; no matter your ethnicity or the borders you find yourself inside of, you are an American if you seek refuge in the wings of this great continent.

And as such, we stand together with the United States government, its people, of which many are descendants from our lands. We will cooperate as much as it is required, be it relief for the victims, be it investigative measures. We do not know what the meaning of this attack that has occured just a few hours ago holds. We do not know what savage man could have taken so many lives; in such a dishonourable way. The deaths of the civilians inside both towers and their surroundings, inside the Pentagon and inside the Capitol will not be forgotten. We wish for a steadfast recovery for the US and we reiterate our support, if needed. Right now, brave men fight the fires and seek to rescure whatever they can from collapsed structures, many of those brave firemen and police offivers have their roots from this prosperous land we stand on. Today, the world holds no difference between nationalities, Mexicans and Americans are brothers who grieve at the sight of destruction, unjustified and senseless destruction. Today, there is no border separating Mexican and American, there's only man. Let us act like men and stand together, for this day will be remembered not only as a tragedy, which it is, but also a day where mankind stood together to help a fallen companion.

May God accompany and protect America. May the victims and their relatives find solace in His virtue. And may He grant us the strength to pull through this storm.

Thank you.

Just make him suck a lot of Stalin dick and build some bunkers and you pretty much have Hoxha down perfectly xD. To give credit where it's due, however, he did do a lot for women's rights and that's huge since Albania was like the most patriarchal country in Europe. Also, he increased literacy rates massively. Yay for having a balanced outlook?

Added an extra to the signature. Oh, yeah, I'mma' suck Stalin's dick!

That... That didn't come out right.

And I should reference the good work he did at some point.
Did I make Hoxha look less crazy than I should have?
And done, first post as Albania. Woo.
