I have given my nation a currency based on the japanese Koku system from the Edo period and it turns out that wages are horrendous by human standards.

The Kingdom's government is a absolute monarchy lead by there queen, The current Queen Violet (her surname is unique as such she doesn't go into detail on her first name as most Fay do) has reigned for the past 22 years, she is a beloved monarch who has maintained the long peace with the Empire Yllendthyr, while simultaneously attempting to open trade and bring about good relation with the other nation states of the world despite the numerous difficulties other races have with taking the Fay seriously she has been successful in this endeavour so far. The Kingdom of Setra is divided into roughly 6,000 provinces of various sizes each province is ruled over by a designated Consul who are granted authority by the current reigning Queen. Each province is then sub divided into roughly 600 – 6000 prefectures (depending on size) ruled over by a designated prefects who are selected by the current ruling Consul. Further sub divisions are then up to the current ruling prefect who will sometimes designate deputies to assist in the ruling of his/her prefecture.

Each prefecture within the kingdom is given a Bocal value this value is determined by inspection of the land by the central bureaucracy under the control of the Queen. The amount of Bocal is determined by various factors historically it was used to determine the amount of Honey a prefecture could produce with 1 Bocal being equal to 1kg of honey enough food to feed 1 Fairy for an entire year. Now though other factors are taken into account such as production of other food products, or manufactured goods and there value in relation to a kg of honey.

This system is used by the central government to determine exactly how much tax each prefecture and in turn each province produces allowing the government to react on a yearly basis if this estimated tax isn't reached.

Currency:
Most Fairy citizens are paid incredibly low wages by the standards of humans. The average yearly wage for a Fairy worker is 80 Bocal which is on average enough to feed a single Mother and her current brood for nearly 1 and a half years.

Currency:
Bocal = 1 kg of Honey = Enough to feed 1 fairy for a year
Nain = 1g of Honey
Petitnain = 1mg of Honey

Value compared to RL dollar:
1kg of Honey costs $15.00 (2015)
Minimum wage of US (2007) = $7.25 per hour (conveniently this = the price of 1kg of honey)
Minimum wage in 1940 = $0.25
So assuming 1kg of Honey = $0.50 (1940)
$0.50 = 1 bocal
Minimum wage of US yearly: $487.50 (40 hours weeks, 1940)
Minimum wage in setra yearly: $40.00 (40 hour weeks, 1940)

Is this population fine ? It may seem ridicules but but read all I have posted.

Demographics:
Fairy: 7,138,740,000 (Japans population in ww2 x100)
Troll: 5,277,000
Human 1,914,000
Elves: 490,000
Total: 7,146,421,000

The fairy population is so high because they breed like insects mothers have broods of 40 – 60 (assuming all the children survive) at a time and even though they will raise that brood until the children are between 13 – 16 years old and won't breed while she still has offspring. A female can still raise between 3 – 4 broods of children in her lifetime. Fairies also don't require as much food or space as a humans due to being 1/30th of the size. Game balance wise all my millitary units have insane crew sizes that are between 32x - 100x higher than everyone else even my infantry has a crew size of 35. This isn't even going into the fact that I don't have anywhere near enough resources to make use of the entire population in war.

Reason I choose Japan as the basis for my basic x100 formula is that it it an island nation in real life like mine is in this game.

For potentially millitary power I will point out that I can't make effective use of the entire population since unlike other nations I can't give a fairy a rifle and a few weeks basic training I need to build a viable war machine for them to make use of and the smallest one I have has a crew of 32. (we are disregarding costs here too this is assuming I could actually afford all of these weapons)

So let's take Avaria which has the largest population in the game at the moment and Avaria did a draft let us assume 10% of the population, Avaria would end up with an army of 12,600,000 infantry.

However if I did a draft I could only amass probably 1% most likely even less due to the costs associated with mechanized armour and the fact training is harder than just giving someone a rifle and basic training.

So 1% of 7,138,740,000 then divided by 32 due to crew requirements would give me an effective fighting force of 2,230,856 infantry which is actually less than Avaria's standing army of 6,000,000.
Just got to do the navy and I think I'm done finally
I am thinking about increasing the size of Fay individuals from 1.6 - 2 inches to 4 - 6 inches or as I envision it around the same size as someone's hand. That would be body size not including the wings which would increase there size even more.

I feel this size increase allows them to keep the feel I originally intended while making them less ridicules against firearms since if you include wingspan they become far more reasonable targets.

What do people think.?
@Cyclone Out of interest could you colour in what the old empire contained on a blank map ? Since it seems to be a huge defining feature of your national identity and I am personally interested.
I have ambitions to take that island of the coast of Clawis, i'd start with it but my army has only recently got to a point where it can be used offensively.
@CycloneWell I have nothing to worry about then my territory isn't in your claimed de'jure :p
@Gig
I was going to have some of your trolls in my nation, as immigrants from the last century. Would that be acceptable?

I have no objections feel free.
@Gig I was wondering, since the distance is not so bad, mind if I have some of your trolls? Like A mainland Clan or so. Or descendants from slaves? (One of my races did engage in such practices)
Sure feel free :)
