James looked up at his brother Mark in his home on Mars. A cluttered mess, nonetheless, but definitely a messy representation of Mark's busy and disorganized personality. It was one of those things where you can go: "Yep, that's Mark for ya." James was more of a clean person, organized, and yeah, a little OCD at times. His brother's home kinda bugged him, it always has, it was just like when they were kids and bunked in the same room. Literally half of the room was clean and orderly while the other half was not. You could definitely tell whose side of the room it was just at first glance.
Anyways, Mark sipped at some coffee, while James just sorta stared. Something was off. James looked around. Nah, just must be tired from the flight.
"How's the flight over?" Mark had asked.
"To be honest," James replied, "I don't really remember much of the flight. They put us in Cryo. You know how you don't remember going to sleep? That's what it was like. Though, I don't really remember waking up, or even getting here." Mark just sort of sat there, stared, and sipped at his bitter black coffee.
Mark said with a straight, happy, unconcerned face,"But you need to wake up first, Jimmy." And sipped at his coffee again.
James was confused, and for an instant, the room kinda changed shape as he looked to the left. for a weird moment, he almost forgotten what his strange robotic brother had just said, and wondered why there was a jungle cat walking across the room. Also, he could have swore the thing mumbled something as it trudged along, something like, "..passengers.....I need your help." Even weirder, the cat took the shape of a female humanoid bearing a tunic, it stopped and looked down at him......
James stared up at the thing and shielded his eyes, it got really bright all of a sudden...and cold. He then realized he was on the floor, shivering, and definitely confused. His left hip brace pained him.
Catching the last part of the conversation, the part where the anthropomorphic jaguar, now revealed to be Terra's AI, explained she doesn't remember much and that they have been damaged and sent way off course, he just stood there and paid close attention to what was going on. How long was he out? what happened to Terra? And when will he ever see his brother, his family, and everyone else in his life ever again?
