She ruled over a village, using the dead from the plague as bodies to protect her small fort. She kept the village superstitious and in fear of her necromancy, allowing her to cast her magic uninterrupted.
A progeny of the Cappadocian antediluvian vampire took interest in the Necromancer, and waged a small war of zombies in Serena's fort outside the village. The Vampire won the war, and he used his strength to subdue her and turn Serena into a Vampire. The Vampire attempted to blood bond the newly turned Serena, but Serena turned on her potential new master and stabbed him with her sword. While the Vampire writhed in pain, she escaped into the night.
Scared of her new condition and distraught that she could no longer use normal magic, she holed up in an Inn and was eventually found by Hector Sea and Hector offered to show her the ways of the Vampire. She has since become a faithful member of his crew and is the head mage of the Devils of the Deep.
