How does the technology stat relate to the actual technology of the nation? Would -10 mean bronze age, 0 means iron age, and 10 mean late 1800's/ late 1900's or what?

I was thinking something like a 10 would mean you could have a steampunk-ish nation, while 0 means you have a tools, but not machinery. I hope that's a sufficient explanation. It isn't a very clear-cut scale, honestly...
I sit by a table with obscene amounts of food on. Grilled chicken, fried shrimp, couscous, foie gras. It is indeed a splendid feast, but I cannot smell anything. I cannot taste anything. I cannot feel anything. Around the table are familiar faces, but I do not know their names. One hooded figure stands out though, he seems eerie. As not to seem too abnormal, I’m just a regular ol’ tree man after all, I eat and drink like a regular human being. The hooded figure laughs at me, a sort of deathly chuckle. He reveals his head, which is a skull surrounded in a dark shroud. He speaks ugly words to me, so ugly I throw up, and as he speaks flesh grows onto his bones. Dark, curly hair, brown eyes, an evil grin – soon the face became all too familiar. I shout obscenities at him, a mix of sap and puke dripping out of my mouth.

“Silvio!”

I have awoken from this horrid nightmare, the last shout echoing in the storage, my voice a gust through the many cages. Too often I awake from my shifting sleep abruptly, but this is the first time I actually shout something. The guards will not be happy. I am standing up – after the transformation this is how I sleep. It is fitting, seeing as I am now a tree. It’s bothersome to lie down with all the branches on my back anyway. I turn my head, my neck crackling; I try to move my knees, which have become quite stiff. As I shuffle in my cage, I hear steps. The guards…

“HV001, we do not appreciate such outbursts” a guard says, three of them gathering in front of my cage. I have noticed that, although they approach most other cages alone, they are always more when they approach me. As if I am more of a danger. This is something I don’t understand, I am after all only a wooden man.

I am tempted to answer the guard, but I know better. Whatever I say, they will use it against me. As some excuse to get the torches out and burn me. I mean that literally. “Come on, you wooden bastard” the guard said, “we know you can talk”. I know they won’t enter my cage. They never do. “Give us a hand here” another guard said, and they laughed. I look down at my right shoulder, the butt of their joke. There is no arm there.

I look up again, keeping my silence. I’m obviously boring them. They sigh, look at each other, and split. I am relieved that I have once more avoided the guards’ punishment. I try to sleep again, there is not a lot more to do in this cage. And as I close my eyes, I hear one of the guards blowing off some steam. It’s the boy who follows orders. The one who always gets beat up. Why must he always be the one to be hurt? As I try to sleep, and hear the blows dealt to the prisoner boy, a droplet of sap runs down my cheek. Guilt consumes me.
I need to post, bare with me. My internet connection shifts with the weather - luckily it's sunny today. I'll be home on Sunday with a stable internet connection, so it shouldn't be a problem. Working on my post as we speak!

For magic travel, maybe there are several 'hubs', and each folk nation is usually fairly close to one for convenient travel. A hub would be a hole in the ground or something that folk can jump into and teleport into other hubs. But folks cannot be near hubs for extended amounts of time, so armies cannot build fortifications or just camp out waiting for an enemy army. Just a suggestion I think could work.

That's a pretty good idea! A spin on the Rabbit Hole concept :)
I guess you can message the guy who was interested before?

A question: how are the folk nations going to be travelling to attack each other? Are they all secretly living in the same area, or do they have some magic teleportation to get closer to each other? How would folk who live in Canada meet up for any reason with folk in Australia?

I was thinking that people just describe their nation's geography without specifying a real-world location, and then i quickly draw a simple map, placing the nations. But noe that I think about it, maybe there should be some kind of magical travel...

I guess everyone can feel free to sugest something, we'll figure it out ;)
The Rainbow Blitz

Full Rulebook

The rainbow is a mysterious thing. Humans think it is merely light’s reflection in water molecules in the atmosphere. Humans have always been very naive. Their belief is not the truth, not even nearly. The rainbow is the source of this world’s magic, the magic which is based on color. The seven magical elements are all spread from the rainbow; red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Through all times, since the creation of light, this has been the truth. Many speculations have been thought and believed in by humanity, but none guessed what was really the case.

However, another kind of civilized life knew this truth all along, which existed undetected by mankind. Therefore, they had no name given to them by humans, but for simplicity’s sake we will call them ‘folks’ or ‘little people’. The physique of these creatures vary as much as animals themselves, split into countless races. The only thing they have in common is that they are all small, civilized creatures. As ‘big’ as rabbit or as small as an ant. Either way, they are indeed little people. These creatures have, if not able to manipulate the colors themselves, at least known of the magical construction of this world. They have all to a degree worshiped the rainbow, and celebrated when it has chosen to show itself.

Recently, something amazing happened. The rainbow spread itself over the land, more specifically a land where many civilizations of little folks were scattered, and converted into strange matters of color. The ones to discover these matters were known as ‘keepers’. The keepers soon became leaders of their respective societies, and did what pleased them with their colors, whether it was sharing it with the civilians or keeping it to themselves. The word spread, and the common belief became that the one to collect all the fragments of color would become the new lord of the rainbow, the almighty of this world. The keepers then made it their goal to collect the fragments, with goals like to cleanse the land with the rainbow or to become the dictator of all existence. The conflict starting soon after became known among the folks as the Rainbow Blitz.

The roleplayer will be in control of a civilization where one of the citizens have become a keeper, and probably taken on an important role in the society. The inhabitants of this civilization are folks. The race of the folks are only limited by your imagination, it is completely in your hands. The general rule, though, is that these little people are never taller than one foot. Folks can inhabit anything, because of their size and diversity, so the geography of your little nation can be anything from a mountain to a pair of shoes. Remember, use this creative freedom wisely.

The goal is for your nation to obtain all the color fragments. Remember, there may be more fragments of one color, but rarely more than two. The one who obtains all of them will get the power of the rainbow, or so you’ve been told. The ways your nation chooses to use to get hold of all these colors, are up to you, if your nation chooses to try to get them at all. Whichever choice you make, if your nation has a color fragment, they will become part of the conflict.

I believe we need between 7 and 10 nations, and we're good to go. Hope people fint this interesting! I will personally be the GM, so I don't count as a nation. I think that is for the best.
