Bio

Hello! I'm Heap!
Welcome to my little corner of the guild.

My current life status and availability:

I live in the Western area of the US in an apartment I work 2 jobs and 50-65 hours (Not exaggerating) a week to pay for. I work primarily as a professional graphic designer and part time at a local family owned shop mainly as a favor to the owner who needed the help. Aside from that I'm relatively active in my social life and non-role-playing activities so while I'm still online everyday the hours are usually really early in the morning and really late at night. That being said, if you find me in chat and I randomly disappear, I'm not trying to be rude, someone probably just showed up at my door wanting to hang out or go out.

My Roleplaying style:

When it comes to joining a role-play I usually go for a more adult themed type. Not necessarily intimate just more of a mature context. The genre doesn't typically matter so long as the idea is somewhat original, that to say, I don't go for role-plays based on any specific media very often. The exception being if the role-play is based off an already well established story that it's not completely following the canon of it.

Who I am:

Curiosity is my blessing and curse. I must know as much about everything as I possibly can and often will never take a simple answer to a question without either inquiring further or doing extra research on the subject until I know it's origin, current political and monetary state, how it's used and if in any way it could influence my own life. So far as I know I'm a pretty easy going, fun loving, person, I'm not afraid to go against the grain or do something that seems a little odd. In the end I genuinely just want to be a happy person and in turn share that happiness with everyone around me.

Side note:

I've made a few friends since being here and truly cherish my friendships with each and every one of them (you know who you are). If you guys ever need anything, ever, I'm there, you never need to ask twice or feel like you are any less important to me then you really are.

The Ibrus Clan is also a thing consisting of myself, @Vashonn, @Caster and @Big Dread. We are a group of miscreants and are all really good friends. I would do almost anything for them.

Doctor Freya Rutherford

Age: 32

Occupation:
PhD MD in Biomechanical Engineering. Beginning, heading and inventing advances in Cybernetic Augmentations.

Current Project:
Doctor Rutherford is currently working on studying the advances in Cybernetic implants while trying to deepen her research to perhaps recreate organs either once removed or damaged. For example, if someone needs a kidney removed, instead of replacing it with a donors kidney, putting an organic/synthetic kidney in it's place. She is attempting this with her progressive study of her re-engineered nervous system. She wants to find a way to incorporate robotics but, without the reliance on Carletta so it will never fail. Though she is having difficulties finding a balance, she still continues her research almost obsessively.

Current augmentations:
Though she is the main and original engineer on the advances of Cybernetic augments she still only has a few augmentations. They include her right hand, with a robotic implant so advance, her fingers become a multi-tool of useful instruments such as tweezers, callipers, a small stethoscope like piece that sends heart rate frequencies from patients directly to her thoughts through a personal alteration to her neuro-chip, etc. Her only other augmentation is to her right eye and is relatively recent. Her right eye can "zoom" in and out on object like a microscope and detect heat signatures. This augment is currently unavailable to the general public. Her limited alterations allow her the freedom not to rely on Carletta.

Brief History:
Doctor Rutherford began her collage education earnestly, studying intently to the point of madness. Her final masters thesis and doctoral dissertation was on her original discovery of alterations to the nervous system. She did this with every intention of helping people, wanting people to live normal lives without the set-back of a disability. With her impressive discoveries she was hired on to continue her research on advances in prosthetic medicine at a company named CyboGenesis. This company worked primarily in robotics and prosthetics. Freya advanced relatively quickly as she continued working on her theories within the nervous system and positive feedback began coming in from successful operations. Her advances in medicine continued with the instillation of cybernetic augmentations to the point of what we know today. She does personal treatments for special cases so she can continue with her research and her original goal to help people.

New Campton

The City of New Campton resides in a built up first world country. This is where our story takes place.

Back story:

The progression of augmentations in human beings started with an organic synthetic nervous system. In other words taking what we know about photosynthesis in plants and implementing it in human tissue to allow regrowth and feeling in prosthetic limbs. This was to allow amputees, paralyzed and comatose victims to resume feeling where it had been lost before. In a majority of patients, paralyzation of a limb often is rooted back to a "miscommunication" or disconnect of any one nerve, the trick of this scientific progression was in locating this one nerve and implanting the organic synthetic tissue to it so it can heal.

Once that was successful the progression of this material got extended into prosthetic limbs so amputees could feel a handshake or their foot touching the ground making their life easier through feeling. As all these success came up, advances in robotics continued as well to the point of human like robots who would now work the simple jobs such as fast food, household chores, maids in hotels, janitors, etc. They have no independent thought and are taught jobs with programs installed on their hard drive. This was the beginning of the friction between robotics and pure. Pure being the term used for those with no augmentations and a dislike for advanced robotics.

With the advances on robots our Biomechanical Engineer discovered a way to replace prosthetics with robotics allowing full movement and strength back into the once lost or unused limb. There were complications in the beginning but all test subjects were volunteer only and signed waivers. It was discovered shortly afterwards that a chip implant was needed in the brain to allow full control over the cybernetic augmentations. This added implant allowed a wider range of possibilities with the new limbs including increased strength, quicker and lighter steps, increased jumping heights not to mention the ability to surf the web, take phone calls, etc with the neuro-chip. With this discovery a tech boom began again. Soon everyone was in line to get limbs replaced with augmentations. Construction was completed quicker and more efficiently, seamstresses could get more projects done in less time, etc. This made the pure very upset. Their jobs were taken over by seemingly cyborgs.

As people began resorting to crime to pay for augmentations it was soon discovered that the body while accustomed to change would begin rejecting the implants if something was not done to help it synchronize. That's when the pharmaceutical company comes along where our physicist purest works to distribute this newly developed drug for the augmented allowing full synchrony while the effect of the drug were in their system. As it's popularity sky rocketed, crime did as well and more and more people began getting augmentations.

This is about the point where our story begins.

Robots:

This photo is an advertisement for household robots posted throughout the city.

The robots found around the city are incapable of independent thought, feeling, emotion, etc. They do simple jobs such as janitorial, fast food, trash pick-up, house/hotel maid, etc. They are given jobs through purchasable software that is then installed on their hard drive.

Cybernetic Augmentations:

This is an example of the types of augmentations seen. Though this is an example, it is not the only one available.

Note, in order to get any of these a small Neuro-Chip must be implanted in the brain, typically behind the ear between the Motor Cortex and the Temporal lobe. This chip is capable of much but each program desired costs an extra purchase price. The chip itself comes equipped with the capability to synchronize with cybernetic augments, making calls, surfing the web and the like could be installed after purchasing the software with the additional purchase of a circuit that connects to your visual and hearing abilities allowing you to be fully submersed in the conversation.

The Pharmaceutical:

We introduce Carletta, AKA Letta for short. This drug allows the body full synchrony with the cybernetic augmentations. Without it the body will work but not as well as a healthy human body would. A few minor augmentations will work fine without this drug but increased additions to your augmentations will almost require it to continue functioning properly.

Addiction is a minor side effect to taking this drug.

Okay! I cleaned up all the head posts for tabs to make it easier for newcomers and people who may be a little left behind.

Let me know if you have any questions! =]
@Cat Sounds good! Her power is a little too powerful but if you tone it down just a hair it'll be perfect! Love that she actually has loving parents too lol

@Apollo26 Looks good! Photo didn't show up though.

Go ahead to both of you in putting your Character in the Character tab.
@ineffable

Hmm.. I really like Jefferson Starship on Vinyl when it comes to rock. You also can't go wrong with Led Zeppelin or The Beatles. If those are too "oldy" let me know lol
@Apollo26@Cat

Seeing that we are still getting interest. Go ahead and make your characters!

@Oliver@Rusalka@DriveEMOut@Silverlight138

I'll keep this going for a little longer. Rules are still the same =]

I never got a response from Oliver or Silverlight138 on continued interest but we will continue without them and I'll catch them up whenever they return. For now, The rule on 2 posts between yours is temporarily disbanded.
@Safton Hah! Now I'll be nervous!

Joking.. I'll just continue making ridiculously long posts until told otherwise >_>
"You seem pretty awesome. I may take you out to coffee sometime, if I feel like it!"

True story.. this actually happened. He just stood there smiling awkwardly like he just said the coolest thing ever.
@ineffable

I have a new recommendations but what types of music do you like?

Vinyl is great for hearing everything your music has to offer.
@SmileyJaws I didn't understand anything you just said other then that you'll be posting this weekend. Lol
