Bio

A writer, artist, animator, worldbuilder. In short, jack of all trades, master of some.

For the most part, I've retired from roleplaying. For quite a long time, what kept me tied to RPG was the Spam community—but even that I have distanced myself from. Now, my focus is on the writing contests.

I consistently try to write reviews for RPGC, and I consistently enter the Twelve Labours.

First labour; world of Archipelago, Jack.
Challenge: an unwelcome death.
For next entry: characterization.

Second labour; world of Uberpowered, Émile.
Challenge: an unfortunate fortune.
For next entry: pacing.

Third labour; world of Cinderlore, Caerys.
Challenge: an unforgiving ambition.
For next entry: proofreading.

Fourth labour; world of Supers, Joshua.
Challenge: an uncompromising betrayal.
For next entry: development.

Fifth labour; world of Mutamorphis, Olrich.
Challenge: an unrepressed motive.
For next entry: development, dammit.

Sixth labour; world of Mythos, Melas.
Challenge: an untenable alliance.
For next entry: dénouement.

Seventh labour; world of Hatemongers, Talahn.
Challenge: an unbearable sacrifice.
For next entry: cast utilization.

Eigth labour; world of Mythica, Céline.
Challenge: an unwinnable challenge.
For next entry: plot cohesion.

Ninth labour; world of Nardja, Albiorn.
Challenge: an unknowing accomplice.
For next entry: narrative set-up.

Tenth labour; world of Magestones, Ariana.
Challenge: an unwilling inspiration.
For next entry: narrative set-up, dammit.

I think the quiz assumes introverted personalities that like peace and quiet must have been horribly abused as kids.

That's what all the girls that've tried to "cure" seem to believe. But really, I sought out the abuse.

How else does one form lasting friendships?
I remember the MusketMan, for what it's worth.
Aëyr, selkie. Western Watch Tower.
Slippery, Stealthy, Endurance Training; running and aquatic conditions.

Softly sliding to a halt beside where Abida had just finished slaying the last skeleton, Aëyr turned to face the rest of their companion in the fight. With the behemoth charging down on them and their targets standing somewhere off to the side, they were going to have quite some work ahead of them.

Aëyr was having some difficulty deciding the best course of action. With her great speed, she'd be perhaps most useful in one of two tasks: she could lure out the behemoth, allowing her companions to capture the girl; or she could go for the girl herself, and hopefully evade any attacks. As it stood, she much preferred the latter option, though she was not looking forward to facing the child's guardian, who seemed more than capable in a fight and ready to kill in order to protect his charge. A noble sentiment, all things considered.

Perhaps our foes are not enemies, but merely obstacles. Perhaps they could be taken alive. Aëyr would certainly prefer not to kill any being of sentience. Demons and undead were one thing, but these were people, though misguided.

"Abida," she said to the fellow former slave beside her, again swinging her sling in circles beside her as she made her decision. "The creature is distracted, and the man unseen faces away from us." The whirr of her sling's orbit grew louder as its speed increased. "Shall we take the girl?"

Should she agree, she would charge towards the girl alongside the other woman, sling at the ready to strike Gustavo's legs from out beneath him should he notice them.

Otherwise, she'd perhaps need to do some more planning.
I liked that demo. I especially enjoyed the wall sequences, as you mentioned, Nargle.

I wouldn't pay money for it, but it was nicely diverting.

You should have done what you and I knew to be correct when we were first discussing it, you silly bastard.

I still stand by my theory, even though I'm wrong. ;]

But really, all I care about is a good story, and Thailen's death helps in that regard.

Alright. Here's what I'm thinking. I'm going to cut back on the hiders soon, I think. Your posts will soon no longer have to be in hiders, and less information of mine will be in hiders. The use of hiders may be making your experience a bit more tunneled than expected, and cutting back on it may be a better idea. If you could drop in your input before I make a decision, it'd be appreciate it. I won't demand it; I just want to know how everyone else is feeling about the issue.

My personal ideal would be to have the majority of information given to us be available to everybody, with hiders only being things that should be kept secret specifically for the advancement of plot. For example, if I'm in a room, and another player is in the same room, I'd rather be aware of this, and have neither of our sections be in hiders. Unless, however, that player happens to be assassinating me or someone I am involved with.

Similarly, if I am across the country from someone, I'd still enjoy reading about what that character is doing. As long as it doesn't specifically relate to my character, reading their actions will have very little—if any—effect on my own decisions.

It may be true that as a player, if I know another player is in the same room as me, I might be more inclined to have my character interact with that other character. However, I keep my character consistent as much as possible, and so hopefully we'll be trustworthy enough not to break the suspension of disbelief.

Of course, you are the Game Master here, and any decision you make in the end I will support. I am interested and invested in this RP either way, and will do my best to make it work for you and for my colleagues. :D
