"Good work," he told her simply with a smile "That was a rough spot, didn't think a Menos would be so strong, remind me again to never try and take on one of those without five other lieutenants, we got lucky we got through that unscathed, Captain will probably scold me when I get back, ah well." Looking over he gestured for Rukia to come over to him, "Hey Rukia-san! Just wanted to say be careful, I'll just let the Captain know you're fine, and I'll keep an eye out for when you return, don't stress too much about...well you know, anyways I'll catch you some other time."
Then he looked over at the orange headed kid "Keep your cool kiddo, and listen to Rukia, you've got a lot to learn if you want to do your job as a substitute, you've got to do Rukia's job for her so that the higher ups don't notice anything out of the ordinary, so do a good job and keep it quiet, for her sake alright?" The kid merely looked at him solemnly for a moment, before he nodded, eyes resolute.
Arashi nodded in satisfaction "Good, alright then, well let's be off Hana." Quietly, he focused and summoned the Hell Butterfly, and opened the Senkaimon, grateful that the Butterfly meant they didn't have to pass through the Dangai, not a nice place to be...
Then they were back and he bid Hana farewell for the time being "I have to give Ukitake-san my report, I'll catch you later for some sake, I think we've earned a little R&R eh?"
Arashi hurried back to his squad headquarters, and for once the Captain was up and about, his face not so pale and wan this time, he looked up in surprise at the arrival of his Lieutenant and then broke into a tired smile "Ah, there you are, how did it go?" Arashi then related to him everything he had seen, and had been told to him by Hana.
The Captain leaned back in his chair, expression thoughtful, "She gave her powers to a human boy? Curious...that's a fairly illegal thing to do for a Shinigami, but she seemed to have good reasons for it, and ultimately so long as the boy is doing her job, then I think I can keep this quiet until I have a chance to talk it over with the Commander, and good work on taking down a Menos, though that was very reckless of you to try."
His lieutenant smiled faintly and apologized "I-I'm sorry, you're right and I should have called for help, but...I was afraid of others finding out the condition Rukia was in and...my bloodlust overwhelmed me, there is no excuse, forgive me Captain, I behaved like a member of the 11th." Ukitake chuckled "Oh, all's well that ends well, nobody got hurt, and you did help keep Rukia's situation quiet for a while longer, so I think this time you can be excused!" He said this with a friendly twinkle in his eye as he dismissed Arashi, who bowed and murmured his thanks before excusing himself.
With that he went to his quarters, and began rummaging through his storage for a good bottle of sake, humming to himself as he went.
