Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality.
- Lewis Carroll
You are an ordinary person. You’re living an ordinary life. There’s nothing special about it. It’s the same with the world you’re living in. It’s ordinary, just the plain old world you’ve always been in, nothing special at all. In fact, it’s boring.
No wonder, then, that you take such a keen interest in other worlds. Worlds set in another time and place, where miracles can happen and people lead interesting lives and do things that matter, truly matter. Be it through books, games, television or pure imagination, you’re addicted to other worlds. Fantastic worlds.
But you stomp on through every boring hour of every boring day, never expecting anything new. You didn’t expect anything of today either, but see that’s where you’re wrong. This is the day you die. You’ll die in a terrible accident. It’s very sad, because even if you thought your life was boring you kind of enjoyed living. Most would say you have really rotten luck. But see that’s where they’re wrong. Because you won’t die. Or, well, you would’ve, but because of a botched ritual performed in an alternate reality, you’ll instead get sucked through time and space to one of those worlds you’ve always dreamed of. One of those worlds where there’s magic and dragons and elves and orcs. Where the map has blank spaces and there’s adventure to be found. If they knew that, the people who thought your luck was rotten, they’d be of another opinion. They’d say it was your lucky day.
And as far as you’re concerned, it is.
Through the Rabbit Hole
Welcome to the game! As you may have guessed, in this game you’ll play as an individual from our world that gets transported to a fantastic one. The game will revolve around exploring this new world and finding your place in it, as well as figuring out how and why you ended up here (and if you can get back again).
The world is as stated a fantastic one with elves, orcs, dragons and other such elements, set in a period resembling the European Middle Ages. You know, knights and swords and castles and stuff like that.
To apply, you need to fill out the Character Application Sheet found below and post it in the Character Tab. Once finished and accepted by me, you’re free to start playing.
Your first post must include the would-be death of your character in the real world, the transportation to the new one and the subsequent reaction of your character. The story and your interaction will take care of the rest.
Given that ya'll are going to participate we have enough players, but I want to wait and see if the game can accumulate more interest before posting the OOC. One more day should suffice :)
Are we talking an extensive and multifaceted fantasy world with like many kingdoms and all kinds of sentient races? Or are we more or less talking about elves dwarves humans and orcs in a vaguely medieval sort of setting? Or something else entirely?
It will be big and with all kinds of realms and sentient races. You will however not have the time to experience all, let alone most, of them.
I would like to know this as well. @Huscarl Will we be basically creating the world as we go? Adding our own things? Is It essentially a sandbox rp?
You will not be creating the world, but I'll be open to suggestions.
So what if, walking through the streets of your home town here on earth in the year 2015, you're suddenly sucked through time and space to an alternate world where there's magic and wonders and dragons and elves? How would you react? And how would that world react to you? If you've ever read a good piece of fantasy fiction, I bet you've thought "boy, I'd love to visit that place!". Well, in this game you'll get the chance - or at least your character will.
