Imperium Mission

Aslo would have been lying if he were to say he wasn't startled whe the "Scuva" came down upon them. he could honestly say thathe had never seen one of those before, and yet it was dispatched with what seemed to him like ease. There was of course the over-arching issue of further skittering and hissing coming from above, but for now at least they seemed subdued. He took note of the hairs on the creature, and assumed they'd act akin to those of spiders, presumably whatever kind had warped this poor... human? All the same to him really, but if speed and agility were their strengths Aslo would see to it that they suffer because of it. Reaching for the pouch at his right hip he grabbed at two of the four ceramic balls located within. Comfortaly he could hold two, each being around the size of his palm, and he juggled them lightly waiting for the others to settle.

Between the newcomer Raen spouting orders, and the mercenaries fervent opposal to said orders, it didn't seemed to care about the looming threat lurking above them, so long as they had their way. Wonderful. Thought Aslo as cynically as he could I've allied myself with those who'd rather bicker than survive. Soon Aslo would realize he had excluded Gremlock from his thoughts. ...And a midget with an Elephant Gun. Simply wonderful work on this one Aslo. At least semi luckily both parties agreed that Aslo should be left to his own devices, or find himself in the middle of the group, both of which worked fine for him. "Right then, then unless you lot are going to do our friends work for them and kill yourselves, I say we move along."

Afterwards he would move over to the doorframe and wait patiently for the group to go through. He smirked and nodded playfully as Florence passed, adding "Don't you worry dear general, I know exactly where I'm needed. Such a horror it would be if you weren't returned to the good Empress." As the last of the group passed him he proceeded to lob one of the balls up high in the air in front of the door. If it didn't hit the ceiling and burst it would land and burst on the ground releasing the mixture inside.

Specifically a mixture which would visciously disorient anyone caught inhaling it, playing with their vision and causing substantial headaches, if those hairs were indicative of spiders, and they relied on them to sense surroundings, this mist may work wonders. Quickly Aslo hopped into the corridor himself, not wanting to be around when the ball broke. However before he got too far separated from the group he was reminded of the door that Murd had brought down. Holding his breath after hearing the crack of the ceramic container and giving it his mightiest heave he brought it back up to stand against the doorframe in a way that would require a normal sized man to move the door aside to proceed through. Aslo thought this might serve to discourage these creatures from following after them.

As he closed in on the group he turned back to the door and threw the second ball so that it hit at the top of the doorframe, causing the mist to rain down upon the entrance. It was likely that the mist would linger there for awhile, long enough at least for them to find themselves out of this corridor. As he retook his position just ahead of Florence with his sword drawn, ready to help wherever the group might have greater need of him, a question nagged at his mind. "Just how intelligent are these things? Is it only their hunger that drives them, or are they likely to give our good friend Murd here a battle of wits?"

It had been a standard enough trip to the area of operation. Liam had received his brief, and was given instruction that Brucey was in command. Good enough. The Aussie had seen him through one mission, and with any luck he'd see him through a second. It wouldn't occur to Liam that perhaps he had helped himself survive more than make sure he saved anyone else, at any rate Liam stepped out of the transport and onto the battlefield.

This round he felt slightly more confident. Perhaps not in himself, but in the equipment he brought with him. While the silence of the Shadow Zone still caused untold stress, the low hum of his newly equipped LAS-Mod provided some comfort. He'd seen first hand how poorly the creatures had reacted to fire, and short of a flamethrower like Brucey's this would be as close as he'd get. That coupled with the additional support they received for this mission served to ease Liam's mind and gave hope to his survival. Acting against this hope were the predictions of Abimael, because how in the name of whichever deity smiled upon Liam today were they supposed to fight an angel?

And then the radio began.

If Liam was a man less in control of his bladder he might have wet himself. Instead he stood almost paralyzed as the enemy who wasn't supposed to be a technological threat surpassed expectations. Sweat began to form on his brow as he contemplated how else they might have underestimated the enemy. He did a quick check of his surroundings to make sure the enemy weren't already upon them, and tried to regain a normal breathing rate.

Shortly after Micahel's radio announcement Brucey issued orders. After shaking off as much panic as he could Liam nodded, probably 5 times more than was necessary. All the same he was just as pleased to act as floating squad as anything else, and he soon found himself close to the center of the street near Carolyn. He'd heard of her at least, and she was likely a good person to have at his side. With a quick salute towards Carolyn he found himself beside her with his rifle at the ready. As prepared as he could be for what was to come.
And people say loyalty is hard to find.

With his attempt at rhetorics quickly put to rest by the good general Aslo continued forward in general silence, a smug looking grin upon his face. He listened half heartedly as the Draconian looking Raen made his snide remarks towards the mercenaries. Not altogether a great idea, but should he be found rended limb from limb later on in the mission... Well at least Aslo would know to give the pair a wider berth in the future.

Presently the presence of magic concerned him most. He was more or less prepared for whatever creatures may lie ahead, after all one does not enter into a tomb or derelict structure such as this without expecting to run into some kind of crawlies. Being no stranger to these dark kind of structures Aslo fully expected spiders and rats of giant proportion, magic however was always a game changer. The calls at the entrance now made even more ominous by the soft laugher of a child. How very clichéd. Ghost stories of countless campfires flooded to the surface of his mind, each teasing at what could lie ahead.

As they entered the dining hall, Aslo found himself towards the middle of the room, glancing casually about. It wasn't until the chittering began that the hairs on his neck stood on end. Like some of the others he looked towards the darkness above, drawing his sword, and throwing dagger, and mentally preparing his bag of tricks should the situation call for them. He took note of the webs around the hall, and deduced (brilliantly) that it must be spiders. As one of the Imperium soldiers, now looking much less experienced tried a door only to find it locked, Aslo sighed looking to the general "I don't suppose you have the key?" He said with a wide smile.

There were of course other exitside from the hall, but testing any of them himself didn't excite him. True there were likely spiders above them, but that didn't mean there weren't spiders lying in wait through them, or worse... it was then that Aslo chose to be vocal "Some spiders are known to lay traps, while we may expect them from the ceiling I wouldn't be wholly shocked to have them spring from those corridors, keep a watchful eye, Archer." He said addressing Raen in the doorway, but also everyone in the group as well. He stood prepared scanning from darkness overhead, to over his shoulders, as prepared as possible for danger to spring forth.

Come now. Let's not start anything rash.
It was a double post... What else was I suppose to do? Apologize?

It's like you guys don't even know me.
So eat me Brovo.
Well Shadow Zone should also have Liam to bolster their numbers. So not quite so understaffed as once thought eh?
