[Irene]

Irene heard the whole conversation as she was only half-asleep and blearily opened her eyes.
"We should do it now. Before zombies overrun this entire place."
[Irene]

Irene gratefully accepts the bottle from Matt and downs half of it immediately.
"Now that we have weapons... we can go about and secure the cafeteria. We need a source of food and water since the power's out. There should also be knives we can use there too. But first..I need a break."
Irene unslings the bag from her shoulders and opens it to find hockey sticks.
"Bats would've been better, but hockey sticks are more upgrade-able if we can find duct tape or something from the art room. Or maybe even superglue from Foundations of Technology? Spread it out on the ground and have zombies stick to it or something--flypaper, but zombiepaper."
[Irene]

Panting heavily, Irene shakes her head in response to Matt's first question. After attempting to regain a normal heartbeat for several minutes, she succeeds.
"I took two bags, one with hockey sticks and another with baseball bats. But when I was running back, a zombie grabbed one of them and I had to leave it behind. The zombies are fairly slow, but their hands can be quick to grab you. Also, their heads are their weak point. Aim for those--if it doesn't kill, it'll at least stun them for a bit... Is there any water I can have by the way?"
[Irene]

The weight of the two extra bags begins to wear down on Irene. It had been easy getting to the gym--but getting back was another story. Now Irene could detect the faint smell of zombies in the hallways, meaning there were probably some up ahead.
I need to stay in the more open areas so I have room to dodge and fight.
As Irene approached the art room, there was a zombie shambling towards her by the 9th grade stairwell.
Dang it! If they are truly undead humans, then I need to destroy the brain. Or disconnect the head from the body.
Gripping the bat with two hands, she starts the swing and connects it with the zombie's head as she is running past. Sufficiently injured and dazed, the zombie slumps to the ground.
I don't think that killed it...guess I'll have to swing harder next time.
Another zombie was around the Humanities hall, probably lured there by that idiot student.
As she tries to swerve around that zombie, its hand suddenly reaches out and snags one of the bags. Reacting quickly, Irene unslings the bag and rushes over to the media center doors.

Irene quickly explained the situation to them-- once she finally caught her breath that is. Some of the freshmen start panicking or have mental breakdowns, others just have a dazed look on their faces, as if they can't believe what is happening. She asks the teacher for access to the gym's equipment room. The teacher nods and unlocks it. Irene peers around, specifically looking for baseball bats and hockey sticks. She finds them, takes out a aluminum baseball bat and slings a bag of each over her shoulders.
"Well, I'll be going then. Take care guys, just don't open the doors and you should be fine for a while. Use the rest of the equipment to defend yourselves if zombies ever breach this area."
Irene opens the gym door and begins running again.
[Irene]

While sprinting, Irene notes that the zombies must not have reached this part of the school-- since the air still smelled fairly normal. If there had been zombies, these hallways would've reeked with the smell of blood and decaying flesh. Slowing down to a stop as she reached the gym doors, Irene knocked on the door.
Hopefully someone will notice...
Banging louder on the door, she stops once she spots the teacher inside jogging slightly towards the door. Irene waits until it opens and quietly slips inside.
[Irene]

I should probably make a run for it now. Before too many zombies trickle in...
"Guys, please let me in when I come back. I'll have some weapons hopefully."
Irene cautiously opens the door and peeks around. She hears screaming and heavy footsteps climbing the stairs.
Great timing. They shouldn't be able to catch up to me though with that kind of speed.
Tensing her leg muscles, Irene suddenly starts sprinting towards the gym.
Again, thanks for the concern but he most likely knows what he's doing (this is just to let others in his class have a taste of RPing). He is/was in charge of Derika- Land of the Gifted after all.
[Irene]

"Well, this will be interesting."
Irene warily eyes the other set of doors, the ones leading to the Humanities hall, making sure there were no zombies potentially able to creep up behind everyone.
We need to figure out how these zombies react, as well as their limits and capabilities. But first we'll need weapons, so we can secure other important sections of the school. The gym probably has stuff we can work with.
Irene stands and ponders for a bit, wondering if she could possibly outrun the slow moving zombies outside.
