Not your fault you didn't decide to have someone take a passive aggressive shot at you Silver.

I'm fine I just don't like internet arguments. They're literally impossible to win because in the end both parties just look like foolish children. Arguing on the internet is like a wet noodle fight..

How did it confuse you? If it really puzzled you, just ask the GM or another player. You never mentioned being confused to my knowledge, you didn't tell anyone, that was what was wrong with your decision. You should have just asked, and this wouldn't have happened. But it did for a reason. For you to be enlightened on this. And so, it was really simple. You also could have used common sense and looked it up waaay before this could have happened.

I would appreciate it if you stopped stirring up trouble here. You opted to leave in a rather unlikable way that felt offensive in the way you said my RP would not be good. So I would like if this was the last thing you ever said here and then you go and find something else to occupy your time. No hard feelings, just being the peace keeper.
Start where ever you wish, I have an idea on how to bring us together/form the guild. So just try to keep up with me. I'll let everyone have time to explore/set themselves up/etc.

You can begin in any town you wish just please don't venture into the Womb yet. Spoiler: We're going to be the first group to enter it.
Made first post, finally gonna look over and add a few characters to the roster. If your CS is in the first post you have authority to make your IC posts. If not, please wait and possibly you'll be added onto the list later.

Also, if anyone can find a sexy picture of something to put in the first post (because I'm a scrub that couldn't find one) I would appreciate it, because it looks ugly and that makes me sad.
For the third day in a row, the massive sun of this plane came drifting over the seemingly endless horizon marking yet another day in this awful world. To most this place was a prison, it was a place they didn't want to be in a situation they really didn't ask for. To others this was a haven, a place they could begin anew and start a life where they felt like they could be someone. Within the first five hours of the game, more than five percent of the population failed to adapt to this reality. Within the first two days, that number jumped up to twenty percent. For most, this information shook them to their core causing some to feel the desire to rally the community together in order to fight for survival and escape the game while others decided it was survival of the fittest and just like humans with different ideas do in the real world, these ideals clashed. A new rise in player-based attacks has sparked fear among the community. PVP-based groups slaying weak players and looting them in order to advance quicker than an average player have begun to form together. The worst part of this all, nobody has even entered the Womb of Thea yet where real evil lurks.
Cloudhaven's East District - Early Morning.

A figure could be seen standing on one of the many balconies that surrounded the east district's garden, facing outwards towards the open sky where the sun sat preparing to begin its long trek upwards into the sky before it would go back down and bring the day to another close. The garden itself was full of many types of fauna some familiar; oak trees, sunflowers, various colorful tulips and some not such as the strange bush that appeared to have a blueish glow emanate from it which sat lonely in a plant pot beside the man on the raised marble balcony. The figure removed the large blue hood that draped over his face and allowed it to fall back revealing a lightly tanned face with a perplexed look stamped on it.

Eli sighed and looked up at the sun, he could feel the heat from it on his face and even looking at it caused his eyes to sting but he knew it wasn't really there. His gaze shifted down to his palms which he rotated and studied carefully. These were not the hands he was accustomed to, they were strong and reliable unlike his soft, boney hands he had grown up with. Eli gripped the railing of the balcony and squeezed the hardened material feeling the muscles in his forearm tense up, the power behind them and the feeling of real strength made him smile. Having grown up his whole life as a noodle of a human, uncoordinated, unbalanced and weak the feeling of power gave him a confidence he never had before. Back before this, when he was Paul the world was terrible to him. He lacked friends, motivation, confidence and nobody in their right mind would ever tell him he was attractive in the slightest, being Elijah was a massive improvement. Looking back up to the sky he closed his eyes and allowed the sun to warm him some more while he began to ask himself "Do I even want to return to the real world?"

As if on cue, a high-pitched voice cut through his mind causing him to spin on his heel and turn looking back to where he believed it had come from yet nobody was there. "Paul" the voice came again but this time from another direction causing his head to swivel. As he turned he could make out a small silhouette running towards him, his younger sister Stephanie. His eyes became the size of dinner plates and he began walking towards her "Ste.. Steph?" he almost began to sprint when the mirage faded. Blinking a few times, Eli looked back and realized the figure was not there anymore, or if it had been there at all for that matter. Sighing he flipped the large hood back over his head and mumbled to himself "Yeah.. I miss home." With that he began to trudge back to town with his head pointed towards the ground, he needed to get home no matter how much he hated his life he needed to return for his sister but just how would he ever get to that point?

Cloudhaven's Market District - Midday.

The market place was crammed full of people, some NPCs were shouting out sales they offered or exotic items they had in store. Various players walked about inspecting the goods that were offered, some were joking with other players and Elijah could see the world was beginning to get itself together, people had companions now. Continuing down the main road of the market place, he came to a point where the road split. One path lead up a steep hill towards the castle where houses were covered with 'For Sale' signs but the lack of Players made it obvious nobody had the money to afford those property yet. The lower path lead down towards the cheaper section of town which let out to the town square where the notice board sat. The majority of the homes on this road had been bought out by small groups of players or aspiring guilds, trying to make a place for themselves in this world. Elijah wandered down towards the lower path and took in the various shacks that lined the area. Some were clearly makeshift guild halls with signs out front advertising for new members; "Iron Boar Guild - Recruiting", "Retro - Always accepting newcomers!", "The Lion's Place - A place for the noobs". Queues of players stood outside almost every claimed building, hoping to claim a spot in one of the many guilds.

Elijah continued on down the path and came across a large stone bridge going over a canal. Looking over the side, he could see the canal reached for a long time before it simply dropped off the edge of the floating landmass. He tried to imagine where it possibly could've gone from there when he noticed seven being lining the sides of the canal. Upon closer inspect, they were clearly players, some of which simply laid there unmoving covered with dirty blankets and facing the stone walls of the canal appearing almost dead while others sat with their backs to the wall seemingly talking to themselves, people had already begun losing it. A quick feeling of despair shot through his chest causing Elijah to once more think about his sister, would he ever see her again? Walking along he began to think about the real world once more, wondering what possibly they could've thought about this whole ordeal. The world must've been in some sort of chaos from the aftermath of this event, that thought made Eli realize one thing - he could potentially be part of the history books for whatever comes out of this world. "Cool.." he muttered to himself, causing a few passing players to exchange a look with one another before bursting into laughter. Sighing a bit he realized even in the game Eli managed to make himself somewhat of a weirdo but what does that matter, Eli had stuff to do and he knew exactly where he was headed.
Jeebuz Christopher... so many things

Where do I begin? For one, after this post NO MORE CHARACTERS WILL BE ACCEPTED, we're closing the gates since we have a ton of people. Which is a good thing, considering its almost impossible that everyone of you will stick with the RP so if we have the few who are lost along the way it won't ruin our numbers so that's good. I'm going to post the IC soon, don't fret young Padawans and Padawanettes.

I'm gonna have the address the concerns raised, mainly about posting and a few other in game scenarios. But first read this :

Y-Yuuji with Tyrant-san.

Except she believes basics should be applied.

There are also two words that are really important in Yuuji's eyes.

Player Intuition.

To avoid this being turned into a number/stat/power grinding role play (which isn't really what Ike-san wanted, Ike-san wanted something that revolved more around character development and context growth wise), Yuuji believes flat numbers should be left out completely. Player intuition is important. It dictates maturity, oversight, and a general willingness to put aside petty things such as personal pride for a greater cause. Yuuji feels with numbers involved, focus shifts away from role playing and players get their creativity gimped, not to mention lazy with their words.

By basics, Yuuji means this:

Fire is weak against water, so if your character is a Fire Mage that gets hit by water magic, you should obviously receive a greater amount of damage than your average Joe. Role play it out. Numbers don't have to be there necessarily. Elemental weaknesses and their general rule of thumb should be kept in mind and considered without them having to be forced down your throats with numbers.

If a target is wearing armor they obviously take less damage. Y-Yuuji is sure the capable role players here all know that. Again, numbers aren't necessary. Be mature about it. Basic physics, chemistry, knowledge. Fighting against armored knights and you're a(n) Thief/Assassin?

-Fall back and gracefully call for the aid of party members.
-If you're alone you can just run. They'll get exhausted chasing you.
-Go for the spots between the armor, trip them, do some basic actions. You don't need to be over dependent on skills.
-Hinder their movements and act as annoying disruptions for your capable front/back line mages or warriors.
OR if applicable
-Surround them with fire and smoke them out of their thick and heavy armor. Players still feel pain/heat. NPC as well. Unless they're possessed armor mobs/undead/some other heat/pain resistant creature.

This is role playing and Ike-san has given us a vast variety of freedoms. We get to be creative~

Even characters with high levels can't fight the terrors of gravity. While this is a video game like Silver-san mentioned, this isn't any regular video game, it's a VRMMORPG. All players are able to

Because this basically hits the nail on the head, a lot if not ALL of this will come down to you as a player. An RP can't run on a single person's back (especially mine because I'm pretty sure we've all realized I'm still new at running one of these). If we reach a point where conflicting events take place for instance Jimmy said his sword broke and explodes into tiny data particles and then two posts later Sarah decides her armor broke but instead it just falls apart and sits as a pile of metal, sort of contradicting what Jimmy said happens. Just let it roll, it won't destroy the universe.

For mounts which is something everyone seems interested in I've decided this: In the start there will be no mounts but as we go on, we can make up quests or situations where you gain a mount (since I want them to be something rare not the average player has), as for flying mounts those are even more rare so maybe if we delve so deep into the RP it gets to that point we can use them but mostly your travel between kingdoms is restricted to Skyships and the like. Stats/Numbers and that whole song and dance can be spoken about but won't make up the structure of the RP. You should limit your abilities and possibly use situations like warning your team that you're out of MP, Mana, Energy or whatever you'd like to name it. This is a team-based RP so we should interact with one another as much as possible.

Which brings me to the next point. "But Ike how can we constantly interact without spamming the IC" and my answer to that is Collab posts. Say guy 1 and guy 2 decide they're going to do a small quest/dungeon together. The majority or bulk of this event can be kept in 1 single albeit large post. How you go about writing it together is up to you but I would recommend something like Player 1 writes a paragraph then PM's it to Player 2 who continues the story and writes the second paragraph. Then you go back and forth slowly building onto the post until you reach the end or a point where you would like to end and possibly switch it back to a solo posting sequence, allowing others to maybe join in on your situation or something else, be creative. I've only ever done Collab posting with one other person, but I imagine in this format you could possibly go up to 3 or even 4 players working together on a single post. The downfall is this would create this god awful beefy monster posts. But I think that's better than coming back and seeing three people have created literally 4 pages of them just interacting with one another. I hope that idea works for everyone.

Now I will have to make the IC post and approve the last of these characters/character changes, so I have a little bit of work to do. Real world work kept me longer than they said they would so I got home later than I thought, sad life. PM me if I haven't added you to the guild list (WHICH STILL LACKS A NAME AND IF NOBODY COMES UP WITH ONE WE WILL BE REINCARNATED OR REINCARNATION OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. Just an FYI). I'm not sure what else I need to really say other than good luck, have fun and remember to always brush your teeth.

I hope I got everything...

Ooops: Things I forgot to add.

Yes there will be items that have special traits but they will be shit at first and won't really get good until later. Please do not ever really focus on levels or leveling up since leveling up means you gain more abilities, we will be forced to complete a requirement before we can level up (refer to first post). I would recommend the first section of the RP we focus on trying to build up what exactly we are as characters, try adding information on to help define the game and the world. Also various aspects of the real world are present here. Such as marriage, owning a property and the like since I can't think of other things right now. I imagined most players are forced to reside in their guild hall for a bed (also safety since everywhere in the world is open to PVP) but if you wish to have your own place my only requirement is you wait and 'earn' it.
Since we all can be considered 'inhuman' in a way, being able to use magic and such we can do some inhuman feats like survive much higher levels of strain than compared to reality. Gravity would be normal, but our bodies are not as much. Can you be penalized for moving too far or landing too hard? Obviously there is a limit, you can't just plummet 40 feet into the ground and walk it off like spider-man but can your body survive being smacked by a bull and thrown 10 meters across the ground before being trampled? Yes most likely.

I think the easiest way to discuss this is breaking it down into sections. For basic mobility-based skills people should think "is my ability meant to disengage/escape so I can't be attacked or is this ability meant for me to engage with." Splitting it into those two different aspects matters because its much easier to run straight into an enemy than it is to simply run away from one, like Batman for example. He often is seen literally leaping into the enemy or coming out of nowhere with a surprise attack but when he decides to run away, he's required to use a smoke bomb or a distraction to conceal his escape. So when one is making their ability they should keep in mind the abilities MAIN purpose, but this is all subject to a lot of "ifs" and a player should be able to their abilities as they see fit.

I agree that such a massive gap closer is unnecessary really, 20 meters would be considered 'out of the fight' to me unless you're a long range-based class like long bowman or sniper. I think people should drop defining the actual distance they move and focus more on HOW exactly they move. For instance a teleport spell by a mage should require a casting time, making it slower than actually moving at the start but being able to appear anywhere instantaneously would beat out most other classes' in a long distance whereas an assassin who would have some sort of flashstep/shadowstep spell would be able to instantly use it and disengage at that very moment but be forced to scale time with distance, going X amount of feet would take Z amount of time thus not being as instantaneous as a teleport. One should also take into account your character's physiology, a meaty knight in armor should barely be able to pull off a combat roll while a mage in cloth armor should be able to tumble, fumble, bumble and bump as they please.

tl;dr - A logical gap closer should be well, logical. You shouldn't be able to traverse an entire area in a single second and your ability should be clearly defined on its requirements and limits. Distance should be relative to your situation/level of skill.

Did that help?
More characters I see, don't worry guys we will probably be starting the IC tomorrow (considered today depending on where you live I think..) but that will have to wait until I figure out what I want my passive to be cause right now I'm slightly stuck but that's okay, not the point.

But I do have a point. I wanted to ask how all of you feel about your grasp on the game's reality. I fear some may not understand the leveling system or how your character is intended to grow. I also would like us all to discuss the physics in the game, mostly about how you would go about writing what you do. I do want the world to feel semi-real where you bleed, get broken bones, feel cold/hot/sick/sleepy and such but I also want to see game-themes enter the world such as item durability, friend notifications and messaging and other such things. I feel like for such a complex world a lot of things need to be addressed so people feel comfortable writing about it. So if those who feel unsure about any of this, please re-read the original post and then post any questions/confusions you may have otherwise I will assume we all totally understand 100% how everything is going to be forever and always until the end of reality. Basically, this is the last chance before we begin to hash out any issues we may have.

I'm also going to state now that tomorrow is the deadline for new applicants, for now. I'm getting off now and hope to be on later but I will be checking in from time to time from my phone.

What about things like aging? Sure in SAO, no one aged but being trapped in there for a while and with the way the game is described as I think aging should come sooner or later. Things like changes in physical appearance like haircuts and gaining muscle too?

For body size, weight, hairstyle and other things that could change but age probably not since the game doesn't reflect your real world appearance.

Hm, nothing more I can think of, except...WHAT ABOUT THE REAL LIFE BODIES AND THEIR DECAY WHAT IF TIME RUNS OUT WITHOUT THE BODY FUNCTIONING AND NOBODY CAN PAY FOR MEDICAL BILLS WILL OUR CHARACTERS JUST DIE THEN.such confus. Also, what does DPS stand for, by the way? You mentioned it on that list of "so far we have..."

Nobody knows. We don't have contact with the real world so nothing about it matters to us anymore.

DPS - Damage per second, usually in games where you form a party there are the tanks, the supports/healers/etc and the people who do damage (usually mages/rangers/rogues) other classes do damage but never on the level of a true 'DPS'.

So yes, I was going to join, but uh. Looking at characters, lack of pictures. Makes me sad, pure-text RP's in character bios make me go EHHH. But maybe another time tho :v

Oh I'm sorry, I would hope you didn't feel so strongly about something small but its only a game. Good fortune on other ventures :P

So I assume this is still accepting new characters right?

Yes :P

I think I'm happy as is with my character, but later in the game a mount would sure be nice. << Thieves/Snipers need horses for speedy getaways, right? Nothing too unlike the class. I couldn't imagine having Lovissa on a pegasus going "Hi ho, Silver!" and flying off into the sunset, plain in sight of every noble and dandy who she'd stolen from. That doubles as a question. How are mounts/pets going to work, anyway? Do we have any stable ideas?Because I'm curious if I'm allowed a horse. If not, perhaps something you can train for your art. Like a thieving little ferret, or a white rat. Or a cat? So many decisions.

Yes there WILL be mounts and I'll explain this in a post before the RP starts. I've been trying to think "What functions do I envision in this world and have I addressed it enough to give people a strong idea." One of those things I've missed is mounts, along with PVP, how the HUD would work, how realistic combat is (there will be visual effects and injuries that inhibit possibly even scar players), so if you have anything else you feel I'm missing please share it because I need to like have a concrete world we're all walking into.
