Samuel was received by a horse snorting at him. Off to a good start.
He looked around confused at the tavern, an then at it's patrons. One of which was the aforementioned horse. For a second he thought he had seen a second horse only to realize what he was looking at was a centaur. And at that point he wondered where the hell he was, if this was a good idea, and most importantly, if it was too late to turn back and head out the door.

"Uh...Hey." he managed to mutter. He then hurried towards the bar, leaving water drops on the floor along his way
"Great, just what I needed."

Samuel tried to lift up the edge of his tunic to avoid it getting even muddier. It had been raining heavily all day, but it had finally calmed down into a drizzle. Which for him, was incredibly lucky, as he had run out of mercury to conjure magic disks to use as cover.

"A bloody umbrella would've worked just as good; but no, Sam had to show off" he berated himself.
What had started as a quick walk through the woods around treadwood had gone south really fast. He knew better than to follow Will 'o' the wisps into the forest. Curiosity killed the cat after all. He counted himself lucky for not having drowned in the swamp, but before he could thank his lucky stars for that, he realized he was as lost as a trout in the desert.

"Soaking wet, almost drowned and I am going to need a new spellbook. Great. Counselor Bayern is going to chew my head off when I get back." He looked around "If I get back." he sighed.

"But Sam had to follow the pretty lights"

He stumbled across the forest and spotted what he thought was a clearing. Surprisingly enough, he came face to face with a tavern, of all things. Who in the world would think of building a tavern in the middle of nowhere? Before he could ponder whether if it was a good idea or not to go into a strange building all by himself, the idea of a warm bed and a meal confronted him with the fact that he was cold and hungry. Not to mention, wet to the bone from his little swim in the marshes.

"Well, If I die, at least I die as I lived. Doing something stupid."

He trotted out into the clearing and towards the door of the building. He tried to shake as much as the water off of him as he could, put on his best smile, and tried his best to look decent. He grabbed onto his catalyst hid it under his sleeve

"Just in case"

Finally, he stepped into the building.
Alright! Thanks! and sorry for asking so many questions. I put up a CS, please tell me if it needs any corrections. Ill try to write a starter in a bit, although I might delay it until tomorrow
"My name is Samuel Osgood. The second. Just call me Sam."

"Give me a second, I'm about to blow your mind!"

Appearance

"I would say I am quite handsome, wouldn't you? Average height. Slender face. Sand-blonde short hair (a bit hard to get under control at times), and brown eyes. Most people say I am a bit of a wimp, but hey, when I fight theres no need to use my fists, so it doesn't bother me much. I used to be quite pale, but a few months under the Treadberry sun do wonders for your skin, so I have a nice tan now. The only scar I have is across my cheek, from that time Whiskers scratched my face after I tried to grab him by the tale when I was 6. My apprentice robes are dark blue, as is standard for my school. I carry around a components pouch made out of leather, and my trusty spellbook dangles tied on my belt from my waist. I also have tall brown leather boots and a small wand with a piece of quartz on the end. I no longer need it, mind you, but my teachers insist I carry it around in case I need a catalyst. I am ready to do magic without it, I'm sure, but after that one time I missfired a lighting bolt...Yeah, I have to carry it with me at all times."

Age: "I am older than time itself, keeping myself young through magical means and... Just kidding, I am 19"

Gender:
"Last I checked I was a man, but who knows."

Occupation:
"I am a proud wizard of the School of Conjuration. Teadwerry Institue of Magical arts, Alchemic Sciences and Transmutational Crafts. Go Griffins!"
Abilities:
"I did my homework! My specialty is,well, conjuration. Anything from dancing lights to magical tables. What? No! They are not party tricks! It's serious magic!"

Skills:
"Wait, really? I do magic, mate. Is that not impressive enough? Fine. I guess I am a decent mandolin player. I also do card tricks!

No, I am not a party magician!"

Personality:
"I am pretty easy going. I mean, life isn't meant to be taken too seriously. Yeah, the old scholars at Teadwerry didn't like that a lot. Bunch of stuck ups. What's the point of doing bloody magic if you can't have fun every once in a while am I right? Specially when one turns out with as much natural talent as I did.

Who are you calling insecure?! I am not insecure, you are insecure, shut up!"

Biography:
"I was born in a small house in Grand River Harbor. My dad was a shipwright and my mum was a stay home wife. Dad used to joke saying that she had to, or I'd wreck the home if left unsupervised. Yeah, I was quite a messy kid. Magic certainly did not help, let me tell you that. Neither of my parents know where the heck I got it from, since both of 'em were as dull as rocks. Turned up for the first time when I almost made the cat explode. Needless to say Whiskers did not want to play with me anymore after that. Ah, hes fine, his fur is just a bit messed up now, and his tail always points north now. I have suggested renaming him Compass or something like that, but mum does not find it the least bit funny. Bloody cat has more than 9 lives, I wouldn't be worried a lot about him. He is one tough son of a...cat, I guess. Im getting off topic aren't I? Anyways, my parents had to tolreate my magical antics for a few more years. When I was 14, they finally loaded me up on the first ship they found and I ended up in Treadberry. It's a nice place. Yeah, I've made tons of friends. I mean, really, tons. Yeah, I'm super popular... Aaaaanyways, that's me. What, of course all of it is true! Why would I lie to you?! Yes, I do have many friends! Stop buggering! What's with all the bloody questions?"

Likes:
"Cats. Most of the time. I talk crap about Whiskers but he was a cool guy. I like good food. Oh, and games, I really like card games. I guess I got it from my dad. Mum always talks about that time he almost gambled me on a poker table. I like pretty rocks. Ummm...I guess that would be it."
Dislikes:
"In case I haven't made it very clear, things that are too serious. I also don't like staying put for long. I've got feet, why not use them? Oh, and beets. I can't stand beets"
Fears:
"I fear nothing! At all! Not the dark, not death...not even loneliness. I mean, I can manage by myself. Yeah, doing alright... Oh, wait, grasshoppers! I hate those. They are like giant armored crickets. Ever seen one up close? Now, THAT'S the definition of terryfying."
Weaknesses:
"Bullets would do the trick. Most sharp objects too."
Other:
"I guess that's about it. I'm sure We'll be getting along just fine!"
Last question, I promise

What is the weather around the Tavern at any given time? Also is it against the rules for a character to point out the oddity of the tavern? I was sort of planning to star with an explorer, weirded out by finding a tavern in what he though was inhabited territory
Alright! Thanks! If you don't mind, I think I'll make my own for now, just to get the hang of it.

After reading the starter I assume either modern and fantastic characters are ok right? Are there any restrictions towards characters and such?

Oh, also, since I'm just going in, I was wondering if there were any plotlines I should be aware of (I don't wanna trip over anything)
Hey there!
I am new to this forum, and, well, you RP was the first that caught my eye. I was wondering if I could join, just to start getting the ropes around here. If I can, then, do I just pop in? Or should I make a CS first?
Aight, where to start?
I am an anthropology student, so I guess thats something. I love history above almost everything lse, and that is only followed by my love of myth, legends and folklore. So yeah, you can see as to why I would choose my particular career. I also love rocks (I have a collection) and play the harmonica a bit. I also like videogames, although I am by no means an expert on them. (Fallout New Vegas would be my favorite)

I have some experience with post roleplay (I used to be semi-active in another forum) and some experience as a writer too. I also have had a couple D&D campaigns (one as a player, one as DM) and a Mayfarog one (as player)

Anywho, pleased to make your acquaintance, and I hope to get around here well.
