I'm almost done with a netrunner character! I'm just running into one small problem: netrunning rigs are expeeeeensive. Any advice? My chick's got nothing but the cheapest clothes and light pistol, but I'm still having trouble building a rig with what's left.

Gwen "Cipher" Potts
"Sometimes I dream in code and even those dreams are lightyears faster than you pathetic meat lumps."
LOOKS
Gwen Potts is a short, slight woman, her frame low on both fat and muscle from days of nonstop netrunning. Her skin is milk pale, a sharp contrast to her hot pink hair and eyes. There is nothing imposing about the netrunner in person, except maybe her sharp wit and sharper tongue.
ICON
On the net, Cipher appears as a hot pink cat, complete with whiskers and a coat of flickering and changing hexadecimal code.
PSYCHE
Cipher is a highly competitive, egotistical adrenaline junky who spends her time on the net pushing herself to go further in the unexplored potential space, to break more rules, to get more secrets. She's smarter than anyone else she knows, faster than anyone else she knows, and more than a little paranoid. Gwen trusts no one, a lonely pastime, and lives for the next run. In person, Gwen is sarcastic and prone to saying exactly what she thinks when she thinks it.
HEAT
Gwen Potts is a nobody, wanted by no one. Cipher, on the other hand, is an enigmatic net entity wanted from the theft of millions in corporate secrets. She hasn't cracked the feds yet, but its on her bucket list.
STREET CRED
Gwen is a nobody, but Cipher is slowly gaining a mixed following of fans and people who'd gladly fry her brain through her neon pink interface plugs.
THE STORY: NETRUNNER
Gwen Potts was born to corporate technician Rache Potts and his wife, Eva. She has an older sister, Robin, but hasn't bothered to check in with the fam in quite some time. As a kid, she was shy and reclusive, often bullied for her preference for machines over her fellow students (not that it was her fault that they were slow and stupid as a whole). By the 3rd grade, Gwen had mastered everything the school's computer literacy department had on hand and was hacking into the system to give herself straight A's.
Halfway through high school, Gwen gave up on the redundancies of public education and dropped out to continue her growth as a netrunner on the only real place to learn: the net. By 18, she was hired by Militech as a combat programmer during the third corporate war. Despite being the youngest programmer in their arsenal, Gwen quickly rose through the ranks by destroying Militech's enemies on the net.
Then she disappeared, taking a bunch of stolen Militech netrunning gear, gear their computers don't remember ever existing.
A few months later, the cyber entity Cipher was born, a cute, pink cat icon that's made quite a bit of trouble for the corps by hacking into their netspace and stealing sensitive information. Gwen supposes she could always sell this information if the going gets tight, but the main idea is the thrill of the run, avoiding NetWatch and corporate netrunners alike, getting faster, getting smarter.
