"Hah!" Aria blurted out after hearing Cronic's whisper. This land was so full of people who outright hated the Thalmor, even if they hadn't been personally affected by their interventions. It was good to know. The less allies and influence the Thalmor had, the easier it would be to find reasons to throw them out of some of Skyrim's holds. Ulfric's supporters didn't allow them entry at all, while Empire-supporting holds were still quite wary of the underhanded Altmer, but acceptive nonetheless.

"She'd definitely fit in then, if we could find this wanderer. Couldn't she be anywhere in Tamriel right now, though?" Aria questioned, shrugging a shoulder.

Introduction -

Twenty years after the Reapers were destroyed and sentient life safe from extinction, the galaxy finally begins to settle back into what it once was. It's taken twenty years to heal, rebuild and mourn billions, but the galaxy is slowly returning to normality. The only political change is the strength of relations between the Council races - ever since their narrow victory over the Reapers, they have stood strong together, leading sentient life into a new era of (relative) peace and prosperity. Most disputes and crisis are now solved around a table, and rarely do the militaries of the galaxy get deployed as a first course of action. But, of course, not everything can be solved with diplomacy...

On the edge of human territories before dark space, a flashpoint has surfaced. An unknown enemy has attacked several colonies and ships in the area, leaving no survivors, only corpses of innocents and debris - whoever or whatever is doing this is openly challenging the Alliance with such horrific acts. When an expeditionary force went to check the situation out, their fleet was annihilated and the deployed Marines quickly surrounded and mercilessly cut down. It looks grim... Though, one man sees an opportunity in this mysterious and dangerous event.

Under the command of the fiercely enthusiastic Colonel Aldrich Kaiser, Alliance Marine Force Recon is a relatively new unit yet to receive it's real baptism by fire. If Marines don't do the trick, Force Recon gets called in. High-risk yet battle-scale missions are a speciality to the single platoon of soldiers, so this coming operation might end up with their christening as a renowned special forces unit. Or, the enemy may be underestimated and the new Force Recon unit be destroyed before they can really be recognised. Either way, they have the green light to commence operations in the area - no turning back now...

New characters and players should always be welcome - just leave it to them to see to how they join in, if you're not sure yourself. It could just be a matter of a newbie showing up at Fairy Tail one day, right? ^_^
"Uhuh... I think yesterday might have gone a lot worse if we didn't have two fortunately good archers backing us up." Aria shrugged a shoulder at Cronic before setting her gaze on the flames, watching them dance to the bard's music. But where might they find another unique person as themselves? They were like helpful civilians, but they could pull off what entire bands of mercenaries would have difficulty in. Their skills spread across fighting prowess, different fields of magic, things like minor repairs to structures, everyday know-how and more. They weren't just the Odd Jobs duo because they kicked ass... It was because they did odd jobs! Any new addition couldn't just be some meathead with a huge sword, or some kind of devious battlemage.

"You think maybe we might find someone here? Travellers pass through every day. Most of 'em just don't settle down."
"That's the Justiciar! I'll take him!" A Nord girl's voice rang out from the chaos of the battle. The blonde broke from the fighting and went straight for the hooded Altmer, but the Thalmor agent just stood there with his cruel-looking Daedric sword.

Aria watched this battle scene from her past as she had so many times. The nightmares were relentless. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't change this... She couldn't save her friend in time. As the Nord girl moves to swing her dual blades at the Thalmor, one of her arms is violently taken off by an insanely fast dash from her opponent. Her wounded body lands behind the Thalmor, the poor soul is too shocked to scream out in pain. The Thalmor approaches his prey, pointing the tip of his sword at the girl. But a sound from behind him takes his attention off his kill. Aria roars, tearing through the Aldmeri troops in her way with an inhuman strength and pace, knocking and slashing them aside like skittles. She leaps for the Altmer for a killing blow, but just as she's going to make contact... he vanishes in a puff of purple smoke. Not waiting to ask how he did it, Aria breaks from her berserker state and runs over to her dying friend, falling to the ground and cradling the girl in her arms. The two couldn't be more than sixteen years old, and here they were fighting and dying for each other... Before the Nord girl passes away, she starts sobbing quietly, repeating "I'm sorry...!"

Aria holds the girl tightly as she slowly gives in to darkness, turning limp in her friend's arms. Just another comrade she can't save, no matter how hard she fights. The battle around the two finally ends in a decisive victory for the young Imperial Resistance scouting force. Everything is silent, save for Aria's crying...

"Sa... Sarja... Wake up! Damn it...!"

The Altmer's smug, cruel smile flashes once before her eyes, and then...

"LOREN-!..." Aria jolted, but calmed as she remembered what this was. Just another harsh reminder that she couldn't change the past or bring back anyone she loved. And a refresher.. of that face she wanted to drive a dagger into some day, even if she died doing it. She held her face in her hands for a moment, trying to regain her bearings. It was Sundas, early in the morning. The stray cat had already gone, and judging by the absolute silence of the shop, Cronic was out too. No knocks on the door, no requests... But damned if the previous day's work and Jarl Balgruuf's payment wouldn't keep Aria, Cronic and the curious stray fed for a while.

Aria stretched, let her chair rock forward as she groggily stood up to stretch some more. She hadn't bathed since the middle of the week, and her lightly padded outfit was getting dirty, no thanks to a horde of vampires and their thralls. The bloodstains were hard to remove! So the plan was to quickly throw some water on herself and go find Cronic in less gory attire.

An hour or later, give or take a few minutes, she'd show up at the Bannered Mare in a traditional Akaviri kimono, black with grey flower patterns and some simple socks and sandals. The red rose tucked into her hair added a little more feminine touch to the young lady that Whiterun knew as a keen sword fighter. Aria didn't look shaken - she was used to the nightmares by now. In fact, she looked cheerful. Taking a seat next to Cronic at the fire, she let out a relieved sigh and nudged him.

"I closed up for now, don't worry."
"That advice sucked! Eat this!" Blaze yelled as she finally began to unleash her charged spell. The idiot went straight for the roar, leaping and throwing her leg at it. The flames that surrounded her in an aura suddenly left her and rushed forward in the form of a large claw that pushed against the barrage of iron. Blaze landed on two feet and immediately started to back away from the clashing magics, puffed out and unable to cast magic again any time soon. The talon of flames began to waver, letting a few shards of metal slip through and slice along her skin or dig deep into her body.

"...Well, not the way I envisioned going out..." The girl laughed nervously, lifting her arm to see it dripping with blood. Still, Torie was in reserve - and not knowing that made Blaze think this is where she would meet an untimely end as a human cutting board. The pain made her tear up; she didn't seem to give much of a damn about the whole 'dying' side of things. There was still time to move, right? So why sit there...?

Oh god damn it, if I meet Iggy in heaven or hell some day I'll never hear the end of this...
The moment Reaver saw the flaming blade coming down on him, he summoned a large wave of raw darkness magic to make contact with it, using his free hand. As the Fire Dragon and the Darkness Adept clashed it made the whole castle shake. Then came the sword's explosive property, ending the clash and sending Reaver sliding back across the floor. The deranged young man looked at his burned hand and tilted his head curiously, before he began to approach Igneel again. He was torn between disappointment and astonishment. How could someone with so much power just... ignore it?! The boy could have anything he wanted, yet here he was spouting the usual nonsense that Guild Mages spouted.

"Naive, pathetic, blinded, ...yet not weak. You are an odd existence to me, Dragon Slayer," Reaver murmured across the hall as the second band of smoke disappeared. He quite simply gathered a sphere of darkness magic in his free hand and fired it at his opponent. It wasn't very strong, but then it wasn't made to impact. As the sphere got within range, it would leap after Iggy in the form of a snake. If it did catch him, it was going to constrict him. All the while, the Dark Mage continued slowly stepping forwards.
"Don't kid yourself! You're the one who's not walking away from this alive, Emiya!" Espada roared back as he engulfed his arm in another blade-shaped wave of raw magic power. He swept it across the huge platform, neatly cutting stone ornaments and small buildings down. Not that he expected it would be enough...

"Heh, but regardless of who lives or dies, we're all going to be unable to fight after tonight. Can't be much longer now!"
"Minerva believes we were magic once, but we've been confined to these bodies... Not just humans - everything was just a magical presence. Energy." Kuro lifted his guns slowly to the two mages, the pressure around him growing as he prepared to fight. "Minerva found a way to obliterate existence, so that we can all return to our true form, together. Personally I don't care what she does or where it takes us... She's my sister, and Espada is my brother. Even if their insanity comes into question, I will defend them to my last breath. You won't get me to stand down - not unless I can be assured of their safety... If they died I would have nothing. This is why I fight you people!"

Amelia raised her finger as if to suggest something, but she was cut off by the sudden attack.

As Kuro finished, he flipped high above Chris & Amelia, unleashing a hail of elemental bullets on them that even the likes of Joseph would have trouble dodging. Ice, fire, water, rock, light, darkness and more - this was his true power and skill in unison - not the raw magic energy and simple gunplay he fought Tamotsu with. He fully intended to mow his opponents down with more variety than they could handle.

"WALL OF FLAMES!" Amelia called above the gunfire. With a sweep of her engulfed arm and a gasp in exertion, a massive barrier of fire appeared between the two sides. It was a lot of effort to pull off something like this without time to prepare, so much that it tired Amelia physically. Before she could join Chris for a counterattack, a stray shard of ice dug into her right shoulder, followed by a brief lightning strike that caused her to jolt and shake herself off. And as if that wasn't enough, an invisible wind bullet caught her feet and she tumbled forward clumsily. The barrier wasn't incinerating everything that got fired through... So much for being ready!

"Chris~... I need a bandaid for my shoulder." Amelia pouted playfully. Of course she wasn't taking the deadly battle seriously! This was Amelia - she didn't even take her short fight with Kinzoku seriously a few years ago.

(Misa & Meli will join in here soon/when it goes bad ^_^ So let's assume they're still kicking the crap out of another wave of grunts)
As Jessica's pet reached the top level of the mountain-fortress, the highest tower, Arthur dove off the creature's back. As he landed, the platform of the tower was engulfed in a storm of dark and light magic. "Knock knock," he murmured as he began throwing dark mages around with his dual-casting.

The Neko from the screenshots left the magic cannon to charge in the hands of the weapon crew, so that she could deal with the new arrivals. As she stopped and waited for Jessie and Arthur, she held her arm nervously. The poor girl had a shock collar, so she clearly wasn't here by choice... But that was a terror tool - no wonder she helped the enemy in favour of being electrocuted.

"This is the only warning I'll give you... I have to ask you to leave..." Mari gulped as Arthur stopped his attack. This girl was the only one left now... His eyes flicked to the cannon as it's aim adjusted, the charging had just begun. The next shot would mean curtains for the innocent people of London, and they couldn't let that happen, no matter what.
The moment Luka and Tamotsu entered the shield room, a dagger of ice flew at each of them. Needless to say it was a predictable thing, and Luka easily rolled underneath it and brought her twin guns up ready to fight. "Ah, we meet again, Ice-bastard. I guess I didn't shoot you hard enough last time... How is it that you're still breathing?" she growled at Zephyr, as he wasn't fighting for the moment. Her eyes flicked to Takashi for a moment and she smiled brightly, "Hey, Takashi!"

Zephyr rolled his eyes as he fell out of the spotlight. Seemed like Minerva was giving the four a little reunion time before she started dishing out commands. "...Tamotsu didn't turn me into vapour, actually. You know that magic the evil boss lady uses? Saved me at the last second. But not for tea and crumpets. As you can probably guess, we're fucking slaves now~ ...And we don't have much time before we start trying to kill you two against our will."

Luka just shrugged before looking back at Zephyr with a game-on smirk, "It's fine - I don't have a problem shooting you in the face, Icey," she chirped innocently.
Yah. Like, the characters having a reason to take it seriously is so much more fun. x3
Speaking of Magicka, I'll do that tomorrow too.

Blaze and Kinzoku are more just fighting for fun, except Kinzo is happy enough using deadly force. Reaver just wants to kill Iggy because he's not worthy of being a 'true' mage xD
"We need a bigger team. Province is going frickin' crazy, and not just because of the war..." Aria yawned, watching the stray's expression as she scratched its neck. She could've sworn it nodded at her for a minute there, but she was getting pretty tired now. Before she shut her eyes, Aria tipped the potion down her throat, letting the empty bottle fall upright on the carpet when she finished.

"...Don't worry, little guy. You'll always be number three..." The redhead yawned again, and was soon enough asleep in her typical kicked-back position. Not that this night would be different from any other. The nightmares just continued, regardless of how the day went.
As the Odd Jobs shop lights went out, a passing guard smiled beneath his helmet, giving the building a nod. A lot of people were finding themselves in the young duo's debt for all the right reasons... Nobody would disturb them, or think to betray them as long as Jarl Balgruuf held them in high esteem. They were saviours, but they would never be dubbed as such in the open.
(Aaaand morning! You do it, I'm gonna go to sleep now. xD)
