History: John was Born in the nearby town of Bloomington and moved to Champaign as a child with his Mother. He grew up on Paul Avenue in a small, single storied house and lives there still with his elderly Mother who has the early onset of dementia. He never had many friends as a child and has almost none now as an adult, leading a reclusive life between work, home and the grocery store. Life hasn't had much excitement to offer John, and he has grown used to that and has been more than happy for it to stay that way. When speaking with other people, his store-clerk politeness easily breaks down with the slightest nudge to reveal the self loathing, despicable repressed human being underneath. John is ignored by his co-workers, who he has no affection for, and lives only for the weekends when he gets to spend time alone, fishing in the local lakes. He has become the store's resident Gun Smith, owing to his natural ability with small mechanical objects, although John has never fired a gun in anger. He avoided conscription to join the recent Vietnam war by claiming a leg injury, affecting a limp even to this day as he has lived with the lie for so long.
On the day the military came and the town was put on lock down, his store was looted by a large group of angry, desperate locals. john joined in the looting, stole a whole duffel bags worth of firearms and fled home, where he has stayed ever since. He has spent the last few days keeping his mother quiet and lying low, waiting for things to blow over...
Equipment: Keeps a colt .45 in his jacket with a few spare magazines and a pump action shotgun next to the sofa. He has kept a medium sized rucksack in his bedroom filled with food and ammunition as well as a few other basics in case he is forced to dash from the house at any point.
