@Buddha I was thinking of Wars of the Roses but I wanted more of a civil revolution than a civil war, as it were (throwing out the Norman conquerors and all that).

Indeedy. They can be of any class, although most likely to be underclass/fourth sort as it would be in a strenuous situation that any potential abilities would have first surfaced as they're not permanently at full strength. Beyond that I'll leave largely to creative freedom but I will have a proper CS layout up before long.
@Buddha

Lovely! Any questions/suggestions thus far?

I have considered changing the scenario to a fictional European country to make it less tied to actual history. What are your thoughts on that?
The Lion Guard (or Guardians)

Premise

You are a Guardian. Rather, you are a trainee attempting to become a Guardian. And what is a Guardian, you ask? Why, they are only the most superior soldiers in any nation's army; those with the best training and innate skill! Most importantly, however, is their strength and agility which are far above those of other humans. Indeed, you are a veritable Hercules (Herecles)!

The year is 1171 and war rages across Europe. Or rather, it is more of a Battle Royale between the major players on the national stage while civil wars erupt. The discovery of those with potential to become Guardians has caused even minor nations to flex their military muscles and the status quo has been severely disrupted. No longer does your wealth, population nor the size of you army determine your prestige and power; now it is the number and skill of your Guardians.

And now you wish to join the illustrious ranks of your nation's soldiers serve your country. Or maybe you're poor and want the sizeable wealth awarded to successful Guardians? Or maybe you just like a scrap and the standard tavern brawl no longer presents any challenge? All kinds try to join the Guardians but it is not easy to pass the selection system and dozens fall by the wayside, abandoned as failures. Make sure you're not one of them.

Explanation

So, you've read the (relatively) poorly written premise and are still interested? Excellent! Now read on to find out how the first act of this RP will start:

-The RP will start with a tournament between players and NPCs as trainees compete to be accepted into the Guardian ranks.
-This will be set in Northumberland (North England) where the always slightly rebellious counties have used the disruption of the status quo to declare their independence of the English King whom they regard as a foreigner.
-Due to the nature (and thus far few numbers) of the Guardians, the conflict has reached a stand still. While the English King has more wealth and a far superior army, the new Kingdom of Northumberland has slightly more Guardians and the two sides have reached a stalemate.
-There is currently an uneasy peace, now that it is Winter, and both sides are desperately attempting to increase the size of their Guardian forces for a new campaign to start in the Spring.

This is the most basic of basic information and I plan to thrash it out more once some interested is accrued. Any questions, please ask!
Matthias Joseph Paris

April 14, 1912 | 22:00 (Titanic)

"I don't think we've been formally introduced."

Matthias looked over the rim of his champagne glass at the young lady standing in front of him. The ballroom was alive with activity, waiters rushing back and forth (as calmly as possible) with bottles to refill the passengers' glasses or restock the buffet table and all others dancing on the floor or huddling around the edges of the room near the food tables. Matthias was one of those avoiding the dance floor for two reasons: he did not like to dance and it would also distract him from why he was here. Still, it would not do to make a scene by acting unusually so he was forced to converse with the lady as if he were a legitimate passenger.

"My name is... Joseph. May I know yours, ma'am?" The young lady looked to be of his age and had no ring on her finger so he was quite aware of why she had approached him; there were very few unwed men in the room and even fewer of an appropriate age who were not crew members. Coming to the ballroom had been his intention to blend in and not create any events which might disturb the natural flow of time but now he was regretting not just staying outside on deck where it was quiet and he could go about his business without interruption.

Movement beyond the doors on the far side of the ballroom caught his attention. A group of men who stood out, their clothes slightly off from those around them and their manner was of those trying not to be noticed or stick out. They were organised and clearly heading in a specific direction, all of which aroused his suspicion.

"Actually, I'm afraid I must be elsewhere. Goodbye, ma'am." Matthias bowed slightly before striding around the edge of the room and out through the large doors on the other side, looking up and down the hall. He hefted his cane and slid the top away to reveal a blade. Satisfied it would not stick when he might need the use of the blade, he concealed it again and strode off in the direction the suspicious group had headed off in.
This looks like a great concept, I'm definitely interested. I'll be working on a CS overnight and get it up tomorrow, hopefully.
I just need to finish off the history for the CS but otherwise it's good to go (I was at a wedding on Friday and suffice to say I'm still not 100%).

I'm interested in this, I am busy this weekend but I hope to get something up for Sunday.
I'll be getting a post up tonight when I'm back from work!
