This has to be the best thing I've ever heard someone - real or not - say about their own disability.

Yay!

She did love her bananas, oh yes...I'mnotadirtyoldman

*deep inhale*
*drawn out exhale*

I found that somewhat amusing.
Not as amusing as Mg2Mg5Si8O22(OH)2, magnesium iron silicate hydroxide, but still.

Shiori reminds me of one girl with MS I had drunken relations with during a university party. This is a good thing by the way XD

...
Potassium.

(Instead of both eyes being hazel, only the right one is hazel. The left eye is green.)

Name: Yuusuke Hanari
Age: 15
Grade: First year
Disability: Multiple sclerosis + Complete heterochromia iridum
Personality: Not bothered much by his MS, he makes light of it and tries not to think about it. Yuusuke loves to make people smile, always trying really hard to make someone's day by telling a joke, giving them a compliment, or helping them out if they need it. Other than that, he also loves animals. Especially cats, but only when they're nice to him in return. Enjoys wearing a pair of fake cat ears. Adores his older sister.
Background: Yuusuke had a fairly happy childhood, a lot of people understanding what he was going through. He had multiple sclerosis by birth, learning at a young age how to do things with the disease. Yuusuke's family was always there for him when he needed them, especially his older sister, Shiori, whom was also born with multiple sclerosis. Shiori and Yuusuke developed an extremely close relationship as children that stood throughout their lives so far.

From time to time, throughout the years, Yuusuke had panic attacks from the many sudden symptoms of MS. The first time this happened, Shiori was with him, on their way back from school. During their walk, his entire body suddenly felt like he was being electrocuted, he couldn't move, and it was hard to breathe. He fell face-first onto the ground, and fell unconscious from panic. The next thing he knew, he was in the hospital, surrounded by his family, who were being told a course of action for panic attacks.

In school, he didn't receive all that much hate or ridicule from his classmates. Most of it came from the same people, and he learned to ignore the name-calling. Other than that, it was all fairly well and good for him. He received a proper education so far, and hopes to continue that.

After moving from lower secondary school to upper secondary school, he decided he wanted to go where his sister went, Yamaku Academy. His sister was only a year older than him, so he would follow right behind her, she would be in second year, and he would be in first year. Shiori had sent letters, e-mails, and even had internet chats with the family, especially Yuusuke, telling about Yamaku Academy. She said everyone was really kind and diverse, and Yuusuke would like it.

Name: Shiori Hanari
Age: 16
Grade: Second year
Disability: Multiple sclerosis
Personality: Shiori is equal parts intelligent and affectionate, having both a big brain and a big heart. Isn't bothered by her disability, sometimes saying things like, "Being born with a disability is just playing life in hard mode," and, "MS stands for Microsoft. I run on Microsoft, and that's why I'm like this. It also explains the crashing." Shiori is fascinated with the Internet and video games; after her brother and schoolwork, they're her third favorite thing. She also developed a fascination for animals, like Yuusuke. Adores her little brother.
Background: Shiori was the firstborn of the Hanari family, and was born with multiple sclerosis. A year after she was born, her younger brother, Yuusuke, was born. Yuusuke was also born with multiple sclerosis, as well as having complete heterochromia iridum, making him have a hazel right eye and a green left eye. Both she and Yuu grew up learning how to do everything with MS. Throughout her life so far, she developed a very strong and close relationship with Yuusuke, and paved the way for him throughout life so he had it easier.

Shiori didn't have panic attacks from the sudden symptoms of multiple sclerosis, but whenever Yuu did, she always would rush to him and try to help him, worried to death about her little brother. The first time it happened, they were together, thankfully. When Yuusuke went into a panic attack, young Shiori took the liberty to pick him up and rush him to a nearby hospital, not having a phone or anything nearby. Shiori stayed there and called her parents from the hospital, and in a few hours, Yuu woke up. They were making plans for a course of action if Yuusuke went into another. And ever since that day, Shiori kept an extra watchful eye over him, making sure he was okay.

Shiori didn't have problems with school academically, always having the best grades and highest scores, because it came easy to her. The only problems she faced was name calling, but she stood up for herself often, even if she couldn't literally stand up that day. She would make sure that people didn't give Yuusuke trouble, and if they did, Shiori got on to them. That way, Yuu had it easier.

After moving up from junior high school, she would decide to go to Yamaku Academy, where other people with physical disabilities would attend, to learn how to cope with and overcome their disabilities. During, and after, her first year, she decided she would stay, and would tell Yuusuke about it, telling him that he would like it. The teachers were very kind and helpful, and the students were very diverse. Shiori was elated to find that her younger brother would attend Yamaku Academy.
So, I ended up making two characters. Whoops.

You have to understand that at a school for the disabled, you're not the only one with problems. The school wouldn't allow animals because there are students with huge anxiety disorders that can/are triggered from animals such dogs, PTSD and allergies would be a case as well where animals wouldn't be allowed. The point of school as well is to not only help students cope with their disabilities, but to also help them overcome them. If you intend on being in a work environment, you won't be allowed any form of pet in the office space, there is no coping mechanism allowed except for a 15 minute lunch and that stress ball on your desk. In the work force, you either work, or you're fired, no copings, no comforts. But that's just more like the corporate world anyway. You also have to understand that this is a boarding school, and like most boarding schools animals just generally aren't allowed. The school won't allow you to have one.But you also have to understand that I never said you couldn't have an animal companion.

Ah, okay. No animals then.

Then, I'mma get started on my CS.
I would imagine that you could argue that the blind have seeing-eye dogs, and some people have designated plans for panic attacks that may bypass regular school rules, so why can't the character have a helping-hand cat? Surely a school for the disabled would be open-minded to allowing this plan of safety to prevent harm because of a physical disability. And, the kitten would be equal parts medicine and entertainment. If you're trying to help these children become adapted to life with their disabilities, it seems it would be extremely difficult for progress, even reversing whatever positive progress made, to take away a method of comfort in case of a panic attack caused by a sudden symptom of multiple sclerosis.

In other news, I decided I would make a first-year male student with MS, multiple sclerosis.

In that case, pancakes all the way.

I prefer milk & cereal. One bowl is a snack, two is a meal.

But, say you had a choice of pancakes or waffles, no cereal in sight, and you were absolutely starving. What do?
Hmm...

I'm having internal debates about what I should do. It's like the friggin UN up there.
Speaking of international debates... pancakes or waffles? Which do you prefer?

Also, question for teh GM: would you allow an animal companion as a method of comfort for panicking? If yes, many kitty cuddles will ensue.
Soft kitty, warm kitty
little ball of fur
happy kitty, sleepy kitty
purr purr purr

I've not played a disability RP before, should be an interesting game. I hypothesize RPing as the disabled increases empathy drastically from the RPer to the disabled, having a good idea of what they have to go through.

I'll work on a character after I get the upstairs settled and I have my answer, m'kay? =^^=
Marcos brought a few downwards strikes directed at Pars's back, but was surprised to find that all of them were parried by the slaver captain. He did not let up his barrage of attacks, though. Marcos kept striking, in hopes to distract him from the swordsman in front of him. If Pars and he met gazes, Pars would be introduced to a fiery gaze of determination and malicious intent towards Pars. Hatred from enslavement, labor, humiliation, pain, loss, and everything that he had to deal with his whole life of being a slave. And now that he was free, he would love to see Pars and the rest have a taste of the pain.

Marcos stopped his attacks on Pars and stepped away when the captain-or at least he thought she was the captain- gave the order to stop. It was too bad; Marcos wanted to gouge out his eyes with a smoldering torch and hang him from his nails and hair. But, he kept his tongue and arm, dropping the now broken carving knife. Marcos was then approached by said captain, asking him to explain himself. "I came from the slave ship you just plundered. I was hanging on to the edge of your ship, and one of your crew helped me up. Then, I started fighting any slavers that got on your ship, throwing them overboard mostly. Afterwards, I went back to the slave ship and attacked Pars. And, when everyone else stopped and Pars surrendered, I stopped. That's how I ended up here," he explained.

Marcos would continue speaking. "If you have space, I wish to stay aboard your ship, and join your crew. I wouldn't have survived much longer on that ship, and there's nowhere else to go, neither no one nor nothing waiting for me. I'll pay off any burden I cause when I'm aboard." After he requested what he did, he awaited an answer from the captain. He was sure the girl in front of him was the captain. Surely the youngest he'd ever seen. By his estimation, a young adult's age of nearly two decades: twenty. A little lower than twenty. Marcos didn't mind following the orders of someone younger than he is. A life of following orders without being physically able to do otherwise taught him to be obedient.
