I wish I learned how to use a longsword. I know some super basic things, but that seems like such a fun sport. Maybe even legit fencing, too, but longswords are cool.

Yeah that's something I want to get into as well.

The problem is only that while the fencing community is small, the classical swordplay community seems even smaller.

I've mostly only stumbled upon people who make swords and weapons, or who appreciate and collect.

Definitely not sport. One of them looks nice, but something tells me they just wouldn't hold up hitting anything. They don't look durable like legit longswords. Unfortunately, I have a katana.

Ah, I only ask because I just started fencing and got excited because I thought you did too.

My friend has a mock version of one of the LOTR swords (I'll have to ask him which) and we use it to stage fake executions and just dick around.

On the other hand, his brother has a real sword which he uses to chase my friend around the house. Or at least he did before he moved out.

Fun times with blades.

There will always be people who hold onto old identities of people as "better", but I'm the same person, like me or not. As much as I like my last name, the original reason for choosing it as a sceen-name no longer applies to me. Blitz suits me better now as a person and I prefer it.

But, isn't Toellner your actual last name?

This kinda surprised me, but thanks! ;]

Now, I'm not about to jump to conclusions, but I'm willing to wager the "Holmes" mentioned is actually Sherlock Holmes, and not Holmishire.
Squee = George RR Martin confirmed!

I knew something was wrong with you Gigyas.

True; I suppose I was referring to people who face more consistent "hatred" rather than more radical, instantaneous backlash generated by actual and intense dislike (see: Darthwarman). Nat's a good example, really, though somewhat of a special case. In fact, I might be a good example - I was an idiot, an insecure 15-year-old, back when I joined, involved with the pointless thread and all that, and that whole thread got everyone riled up; but I doubt the hatred or even irritation at this one thread and the people in it was nearly as high as folks professed. It was just another bit of drama, a new plot twist on Spam: The Sitcom.I'm sad that I never got to really know some of the older Spam members - not those who left before my time, but those who have faded at the same time as I've found my stride here. Folks like you, actually - although you've returned now. I saw enough of them to like them but not know them, sorta sucks.

I've had months of inactivity at times, but I'd never go and say I was a part of that group. I've always kinda lived up to my accidental namesake in that I jump in, crack a few jokes, rile people up, and then disappear into the sidelines.
