Rayla: What is that thing exactly?

Tiane: It's a device made with the purpose to insert knowledge into someone's mind and changing their nervous system to adapt it to these new memories...However, it's still in test phase and supposedly, only lesser powered psychic users can withstand the strain of the device.

Hiagor: Psychic Users huh? They were planning to use that on Miss Kaori right?

Nancy: Most likely.

Andorina: N-No way...My friend is an Psychic User?

Tiane: From the looks of it...yes...

Andorina: ...I see...To think she has such power...

Hiagor: Psychic Users have been showing a lot lately. They're still fairly low in number, and due to misinformation about their powers, can't control it very well and as a result, they end up causing unwanted destruction.

Andorina: N-No way...She's going to be like this as well?

Nancy: Miss Andorina, have you noticed something odd about your friend's behavior?

Andorina: ...Well...She was going through some therapy last month...I'm not sure why...

Hiagor: Maybe that's how the mysterious group deduced she had said powers. One of the traits that a Psychic User has is increased senses. Maybe, all of the weird things she was having is because of this power.

Rayla: But...wouldn't they had to know what she said to her therapist to actually deduce she was awakening to her powers? And even if they somehow knew, it is still an assumption that they've made. With that in mind, it's safe to assume they were willing to risk an innocent life to test their weapon out...

Ted: Speaking of which...what happens if a normal person uses said device?

Tiane: ...Part of their nervours system might receive permanent damage...like losing motion of one or many limbs...or losing one of their senses...

Suddenly, Tatianna showed an hearing aid device on her ear and a spare pair of contact lenses.


Rayla: T-Tiane...Don't tell me...

Tiane: I hade my five senses affected by it after I woke up here in the Guild...I can't smell anything...Taste anything...Feeling pain is almost non-existent...And I have to use these to at least hear and see better.

Rayla: (...This can't be...)

Tiane: Well...It's what I get for being so feist...

Rayla: It wasn't your fault...nobody knew what would happen. Don't blame yourself for losing your senses.

Tiane: ...Still...I'm taking it as my punishment. Maybe...If I wasn't such a rebelious child, I would be living together with the other orphanage kids right now.

Hiagor: So in a nutshell...Some crazed organization are kidnaping people who are supposedly psychic users in order to test a prototype weapon that might serevely hurt normal people if used on them instead. I understand what's happening so far...What I don't get is why you were so interested to take Tatianna to this place instead of the hospital. What good would it make to get this information way early.

Rayla: He's got a point...

Nancy: I answer your question with another one: Do you honestly believe the police would share information about the Compact Glaive? They would most likely make it easy for this mysterious organization to seize Tatianna and put the blame on some random terrorist attack.

Hiagor: I see...You did the right thing I suppose. I assume that you've earned some scolding from them.

Nancy: That we did. While we, the guild are allowed to patrol around the city, the cops never really called for our backup. We mostly get requests from the people instead.

Rayla: Why that doesn't surprise me.

Nancy: And besides...One of our members has a personal story with this device. I would introduce him to you but...You all would have to promise something for me. Not you of course Andorina.

Ted: What kind of promise?

Nancy: That you must use this information in order to help the city. We're dealing with a conspiracy here and we're going to need as much help as we want. So, what do you think?

Rayla: Keep it to yourself then...I've only came here to have Andorina talk with Tatianna.

Tiane: Wait, what?

Andorina: Rayla?

Rayla: This city...is beyond help...I'm just satisfied enough helping the people around me.

Then, she leaves the place, Andorina runs after her.


Tiane: Of all people to refuse...why her?

Ted: I'm out as well...I can't see myself harming other people whether they're good or bad...I'm sorry...

Ted also leaves the room.


Nancy: What about you Mister Detective? Are you going to refuse as well?

Hiagor: On the contrary. If fact, I was waiting for an opportunity like this...You're going to put that explanation on hold though...These Scattered Resolves bothers me a lot. I want to bring as much people as possible for this cause, that's why I've become a Detective in first place.

Nancy: I see, I'll be waiting for your return.

Hiagor: I'll surely bring a bunch of brave people with me, just you wait!

Hiagor takes his leave.

Nancy: Still on the fence I see.

Tiane: Kinda...Maybe I'm finally reaching my answer.

Nancy: Go right ahead, oh, and take this with you.

She gives Tatianna the Compact Glaive.


Nancy: You're going to need it in case they attack you again. Don't worry about getting your body hurt by it..."he" said that since your body is now adapted to the new information in your mind, you won't lose anymore body functions.

Tiane: If you say so...I might use it if I feel like it.

Then, Nancy was left alone in the Laboratory.

Reeta: C'mon man, you gotta open up more. Living alone is no good at all...Trust me on this one. We all want you to smile and enjoy life more with the people important to you. You might be able to live in a shell but what good that will do? I can't really imagine a life like that to be a happy one...

Kurosato: Man, these cup noodles really hits the spot. I'm starving after all that talk.
Thug: Same here boss.

Kurosato: I'm still amazed by Glenn's resistance, how are you feeling there buddy?

Glenn: My face feels like a mashed potato...Not mention the other punches I've received from the beginning of the match...Seriously, how is she's this strong?

Kurosato: She is an Ancestor Mage after all...Something that should've been common knowle...Oh, right, you guys skip class to hang out with me...Anyway, all I have to say is, she could've defeated you even faster.

Glenn: Then why didn't she do it?

Kurosato: Maybe because she doesn't want to rely much on her inner strenght. I'm sure she trains herself everyday by watching the enemy's movement and reacting accordingly.

Glenn: Makes sense I think...But anyway...If she's this strong, why isn't Spring Zone at least free of those bad guys already?

Kurosato: It's because of the Four Comets Group. They're composed of four big gang leaders...I heard one of them has ties with the Yakuza...

Glenn: Whoa, really?

Kurosato: Yes, no matter how many times she beats them up, they are ordered to keep rampaging around the city...Or else they'll get a rather nasty punishment. She isn't trying hard enough to solve the problem.

Rayla: Oh, Hi Nancy.

Hiagor: I assume you're the Guildmaster then?

Nancy: That's right. I'm Nancy Serena, Founder and Leader of World Crossers Guild. Right now, I'm helping the Unitia City Branch out since it's the newest.

Andorina: She's...So pretty.

Nancy: Am I now? I keep worrying that age is starting to catch up with my looks.

Hiagor: What are you talking about? You're like a radiant flower. If only Rayla followed your example more, she wouldn't look so rough all the time.

Gleen used his Giant Fist technique again.


Rayla: (It completely covers his body, so i can't see what he's doing behind that attack.)

She braced herself and blocked the attack, being pushed quite a bit away after getting hit.


Rayla: (This time, the attack was aimed below a little bit below the neck.)

Glenn: NEXT ONE!!!

He went for another straight punch.


Rayla: (Hmmm...What if he...)

She waited a bit, then decided to back-step the next attack, staying out of Glenn's reach.


Glenn: GET BACK HERE!!!

Rayla: (Alright, it's worth a try.)

Glenn lunged at her again, when his fist grew in size again, Rayla decided to strike with a fist enveloped in a glowing white aura.

Thug: T-There it is! One of her famous punches!

Rayla: HYAAAAA!!!

Glenn: !!!

She felt her punch stopping, Glenn was pushed away a bit. When the fist went back to normal, she saw one of his hands close to his face while the other was closed.


Rayla: (I knew it, that was an illusion after all...Just what is this guy anyway?)

Glenn: Just a minor setback...I'll crush you in the next attack...HAAAAAAAA!!!

He approached Rayla, then went for another giant punch.


Rayla: Hya!!!

She dodged the attack by arching her upper body backwards, then, using the momentum, threw an upwards kick that hit Glenn in the chin.


Glenn: Argh!!!
Thugs: Ah!?

Andorina: She did it!

Rayla: It's not over yet!

She did a backflip in order to stand up, then ran at him.


Glenn: Dammit...I WON'T LOSE!!!

This time, both of his fists grew in size and went at her direction. The moment she feels she's close enough, she stops while feinting a punch, then jumps above Glenn, making him miss his strike. She lands behind him.


Glenn: Wha-

Rayla: *takes a deep breath* HMMM...
Thug: Glenn! Behind you!

Glenn: Kurgh...

He turns around, only to see her enveloped in a blue aura, ready to strike him.


Glenn: OH..(SNAP!!!)

Rayla: HAAAA!!!

She hits him with a magic enhanced backhand attack, sending him spinning in the air, then landing on the ground. He tries to get up as fast as he can, but gets hit in the face, forcing him to stand up. Then, Rayla goes for a headbutt, sending Glenn back to the floor.


Glenn: AAAAAAAAARGH...

Rayla: I've figured the secret of your illusion. You use the fist to cover your movements, then watches my actions and reacts accordingly. All I had to do is trick you into attacking first.

Glenn: Grrr...No way...You bested my strongest move...

Rayla: I have to admit, that was pretty clever...but that's all there is to it. Without that trick of yours, you just have your strenght, and we know how well that went. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to enter that building with my friends right now and you guys better not block anyone else's path.

Glenn: Not...yet...I'm...Not done yet!

Rayla: Sigh...

Glenn gets up an attacks Rayla again, she manages to evade his fist, then kicked his leg in order to make him lose balance, then, stompted his head in order to send him to the ground again.


Glenn: URGH!!!
Thug: Oh no...Not even Glenn can beat this girl...What the hell is she?

Rayla: Now then...ARE WE finally done here?

Glenn: Mmmmf!!! *tries to shove away the leg that was stepping on his, going as far as punching it, but it only made her press harder.*

???: I belive that's enough, Miss Holy Hammer.

Rayla: Huh?

She looked to the voice that spoke up. The Thugs took a formation and bowed to the person that was walking off the building.

Thugs: WELCOME BACK BOSS!!!

Glenn: Bhush?

Leader of the Gang: What did you guys do to anger her this time? I thought I told you to not make such a fuss.

Rayla: So you're their babysitter huh?

Leader of the Gang: That's right, my name is...




Andorina: Whoa...I was expecting someone more...rough looking. No offense

One minute after he leaves to search for a convenience store, Rayla, Ted and Andorina arrives in the place.


Andorina: Good to know I get to walk through Spring Zone one more time.

Rayla: You're welcome.

Rayla: Your guess is as good as mine.

Tall Man: Huh? Sorry, but boss is talking with our little friend...I might have to ask you to...

Glenn: I'm unlike anything you've ever faced before! My fists are going to finally take down your legacy.

Rayla starts the assault, landing some good hits on Glenn, who staggers but doesn't fall on the ground. He tries to hit his punches but misses them.


Glenn: Urgh...Why you...HAH!

He went for an uppercut, Rayla used her elbow to block the strike, then countered with her own uppercut, making Glenn fall on the ground.


Glenn: Argh!

Rayla: Hya!

She went for a kick while he was still down. Glenn managed to roll away despite the pain in his jaw.


Rayla: Well now, at least you're as sturdy as you look.

Glenn: Heh...You haven't seen nothing yet.

Rayla: All am I seeing is...

Before she finished her sentence, Glenn went for another punch. What Rayla didn't expect was that the punch suddenly grew up in size. It was roughly three times Rayla's height.


Rayla: Argh!!!

Getting hit by it, she was sent flying and landed near Ted and Andorina.


Ted: What just happened? Isn't he a common thug like the others?

Andorina: Look! His hand is back to normal.

Glenn: This is my ability! I can make my punches grow in size, not giving anyone a chance to run but behind them. Cool isn't it?

Rayla: If that's the case, why it only felt like I was punched in the face?

Glenn: What? She survived it?

Rayla got up, shaking her head in order to shake off the dizziness.


Rayla: It was a clever trick...but it will only work once.

Ted: Wait Rayla, I'll go with you.

Rayla: Huh? Why?

Ted: Himika told me to buy something for her today...and I might need someone who's more willing to beat up the bad guys for me...

Rayla: Sure, I don't mind more bodyguard duty.

Ted: More?

Rayla: Yeah, I'm going to take Andorina to visit Tiane at the Guild.

Ted: I see. I don't mind passing there first then.

As they left the classroom, they saw a red-haired girl heading towards them.


Ted: Isn't that...




Rayla: It's about Lucent right? He didn't show up.

Reeta: Oh man...Where he could've gone to? He's not going Tatianna on us right?

Rayla: I doubt he would want to go rogue...

Reeta: Seriously, is he willing to go this far in order to not interact with people?

Rayla: Worried as always about him huh?

Reeta: I mean...are you not?

Rayla: Yes, but you seem to show it more.

Rayla: Anyway, You can't just blindly search for him right now. Just return to the orphanage and wait for me.

Reeta: You're right...

Andorina: Hello again Rayla, I'm ready when you are.

Rayla: Someone that I...That Tiane indirectly helped. The girl she rescued is Andorina's friend. Andorina, this is Reeta, a 2nd year like me.

Rayla: Before you go...what was the name of your friend again?

Andorina: It's Kaori...Kaori Osamu.

Ted: Kaori huh? I would like to meet her when she's all better.

Andorina: Why is that?

Ted: Well...She might need more friends to support her...so...

Andorina: Oh...How considerate of you. In that case, I'll make sure to introduce you to her.

Rayla: Yeah, Ted is a good kid. (And really bad at hiding his worries.)

Andorina: Good-bye everyone.

Rayla: Bye, and thanks for sharing your lunch.

As Andorina left the rooftop, she saw the purple-haired girl staring.

Ayame: So, you've met her fate-to-face.

Ayame: That's right! I searched for her almost everywhere. After seeing her dedication first hand, I know she has what it takes to make part of my group. Once school ends, I'll have a heart-to-heart talk with her.

Hiagor: Your boss is sure taking his time.

Tall Man: You're right...I wonder what he's doing right now.
Thug: By the way Mr. Detective, why do you carry a deck around? You say you're not good a gambling...Are you perhaps good at magic tricks?

Hiagor: Something like that. I actually use those tricks to cheat at poker, get the good cards for myself and win some info from guys who are rather fascinated with that particular game. There's something oddly satisfying than seeing someone's lucky streak break apart.

Tall Man: That's cool.

Hiagor: Of course, I can't do much against someone that can actually see my hand movements. So anyway, since we're using my spare deck, I can't switch cards right now. I just have to make sure they don't see the pattern behind the cards and I'll be fine.
Thug: Neat!

Hiagor: Alright dealer, I want a double down!

As she eats it, she feels a rather "homely" sensation coming from it, reminding her of her mother's cooking. Andorina noticed the smile and just did a single nod.

Ted: (Well, isn't he brave?)

Ted: (But at least he's willing to fight...)

Rayla: (Sending his children to a dangerous place...Can't say if it's on purpose or just plain negligence...Either way, we have some talking to do if we ever get to meet.) Guess I wasn't specific enough...Self-Defense is alright. Don't fight unless they attack first. Hopefully, I was a bit more clear on this matter.

Rayla: Anyway, in case you decide to take a stroll, Spring Zone is your starting point, specially in, well, it's spring. The cherry trees are in full bloom until summer arrives.

Andorina: It's my favorite place as well. I had the opportunity to take a walk and appreciate the view thanks to meeting Rayla.

Ted: How did you two meet anyway?

Andorina: Oh, I reconized her face as being one of the girls that helped take down those "evil janitors".

Rayla: Hahahahahahahahaha!!!

Andorina: I mean...nobody knows what they are so...That's all I can think of to call them.

Ted: Oh yeah, there were other people that stepped in right?

Andorina: That's right. We don't talk muc...But I keep hearing her talking about creating her own team of hall monitors that defends the school. She always seems so dead serious about this project.

Rayla: (That...doesn't sound like a bad idea actually.)

Ted: I guess I heard a word about that too. Who was the other one?

Rayla: Someone that came here to visit her younger brother. I didn't really get her name, but she knew how to drive a car and how to do first aid.

Andorina: Hmmm...Doesn't ring any bell...

Ted: Maybe she'll come here again.

Rayla: Hopefully, I'll see her again.
