Death Frontier Nanase used to go to the grasslands as a child. However, the place was now off-limits to civilians because monsters
would also show up there. Her only memories of the place was that she would play with the other kids.
Nanase: (This place used to be full of people...No doubt that they would love to hang out here again...)
There were no monsters around. Yet, the atmosphere of dread was similar to Central Unitia's. It didn't take long for
her to spot both Pairah and Miolina. They were right under a lone tree.
Pairah: Took you long enough.
Nanase: I didn't knew I was under a time limit.
Miolina: Don't worry, there wasn't any.
Pairah: Hey!
Nanase: Let me make one thing clear, I didn't come here for you.
Pairah: Excuse me?
Nanase: I have business with my classmate.
Miolina: Awww...That's the first time you ever considered me one.
Nanase: That's all there is to it. If you wanted a fight, too bad.
Pairah: You shrew...You have guts saying that to my face...Not only you offended me, but you also completely ignores me.
Nanase: Miolina...do something about your friend...
Miolina: I would love to...but I feel like she held back her powers for too long...

Pairah:
I'LL BURN YOU DOWN!!! Nanase saw herself being assaulted by a multitude of fireballs. She had no other choice but to use her own powers to increase her speed in order to dodge the attacks. She took a brief glance at Miolina's face, whose perpetually smiling face seemed unchanged as always. However, Nanase still could spot something different about it.
Nanase: (So...she always knew...)
Pairah: Still up huh?
Nanase: Hey, aren't you making this too much of a big deal? We don't need to to this...
Pairah: HAAAAAAAAAA!!!
She dodged a bigger fireball, whose explosion almost threw her out of balance.
Nanase: Geez...If that's what will get me to talk with Miolina...then I'll deal with you first... (I'm really not sure what I expected...)
Pairah: Finally! I was starting to think I wouldn't be able to test how strong I really got.
Nanase: Oh? Ooooooh....I know what this is all about...You're a newbie aren't you?
Pairah: What about it?
Nanase: I've been in the same position as yours, some weeks ago actually. I went in the Hollow Night not even sure If could defeat my nemesis...All I had was my hard work and effort.
Pairah: What are you rambling on about?
Nanase: You still don't get it?

Purely Soldier Suddenly, a strong wind started to blow. Miolina knew it was Nanase's doing. Nanase summoned a large green sword, and two pairs of small wings appeared in her feet.
Nanase: It means that right now, I'm stronger than you. You're fighting a losing battle.
Pairah: Are you dumb or what? Have you seen the power of my attacks?
Nanase: They won't do much if they don't hit.
Pairah: Then I'll hit as many as possible until there's only charred remains of you!
Arizuka fired another barrage of fireballs, but Nanase easily dodged them while moving foward.
Pairah: Whoa! Is she flying?
Nanase: If you're impressed by just this, then you're even more of a rookie than I thought.
Pairah: Stop saying that already and just DIE!!!
Pairah caused an explosion right in front of herself in the hopes of hitting Nanase, but then, Pairah was struck by a
wind projectile from the sky.
Pairah: ARGH!!!
Nanase: I'm not done yet!
Pairah: !!!
As Nanase landed, she did an upwards slashing motion with her sword. Pairah avoided it, but was blown away by strong hurricane that suddenly appeared from Nanase's swing.
Pairah: AAAAAAAAAAH!!!
Miolina: C'mon Miss Arizuka, you have to do better than that.
Pairah: Easy to say shit when you're in the backseat...
Nanase: Hyaaaa!!!
Nanase continued her assault, not letting Pairah attack one, forcing her on the defensive with continuous, graceful strikes. She didn't want to deal with another explosion. Pairah went for a punch when she thought she had an opening, but Nanase easily side-stepped it and made her opponent trip. Then, she hit Pairah with the blunt part of her sword, pushing Arizuka away with the strenght of the wind.
Pairah: Argh...
Miolina: (This is extremely entertaining...though, I feel like my ears will suffer more abuse from Miss Arizuka once this is
over...)
Pairah: Dammit...What the hell? Why isn't this working?
Nanase: Don't make me repeat myself.
Pairah: Fine then...This next attack will...
Miolina: Not wanting to be a buzzkill...but you've been trainning this the whole day without rest...If you keep using
your EXS like that...
Pairah: Tch...
Nanase: ...Finally...
Pairah: In that case...it's back to mano-a-mano.
Nanase: And...I celebrated too soon...
Pairah ran ahead, channeling all her anger towards Nanase, who stood there, waiting for her opponent to approach.
Nanase: (Anger huh? Somehow...I see a bit of myself in her...Granted, my anger towards Hyde was one big misunderstanding...But when I look at her...)
Pairah: HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nanase: (I can tell that her anger is the result of something way worse...Whatever it is...It made her accept this power without second thoughts...)
Miolina: (It seems that the battle is over. A predictable outcome of course...But a necessary one.)
Nanase: (Guess I'll have to cling to these powers for a while longer until I'm truly safe from her.)
Pairah: THIS TIME I WILL...
Nanase blocked the incoming punch. The clash of her sword and Pairah's fist created a shockwave resembling a ring of fire. It wasn't hot enough to burn anything, but if any normal person came in contact with it, they would still feel an extreme heat in their body.
Nanase: Kurgh...
Pairah: Finally made you wince huh? Now...
Nanase: Keep dreaming you creep!
Pairah: Wha-

Nanase: This is what you get for forcing me to use this stupid power!
Arizuka saw herself being overpowered by Nanase, until she was flung to the air.
Nanase followed with a jump, then hit Pairah with a strike of concentrated wind that she gathered in her palm, sending Pairah flying towards the lone tree. Suddenly, Miolina jumped high and caught Pairah in mid-air.
**Music stops**
Pairah: ...What...do you think...you're doing...Don't...
Miolina: I wasn't helping you. Besides, from my perspective, the battle is pretty much over. The amount of guts and effort you have right now won't help you now. EXS doesn't work like that you know.
Pairah: I'm still...
Miolina: The ultimate victory comes after many grueling defeats. Trust me, it's going to begreat if you keep doing what I say.
Pairah: ...
Pairah released herself from Miolina's grip, then started walking away, but not before sending one last glare to Nanase.
Music:

Miolina: Man...the guy that came before her was so much easier to handle...Not that I'm complaining though...I always amuse myself with those thug-like types and their simple-mindedness.
Nanase: Someone is having fun at least.
Miolina: Before you begin, do you know why I stopped her from hitting the tree? Well, aside from it being an important part of the grasslands, she was going to land above these gravestones if I didn't do anything.
Nanase: (Graves?)
Nanase saw a pair of gravestones at the foot of the tree.
Miolina: Gotta have respect for the departed.
Nanase: Urgh...You're a real mystery...I can't understand you at all.
Miolina: You can't get a read on anyone.
Nanase: You are a special case...I always thought you were really shady, but then, I see you respecting the dead like this...Always going on these tangents that doesn't make much sense...Just...who or what are you?
Miolina: Oh? Is it that obvious? Anyway, That's not the question you came here to ask me.
Nanase: ...
Miolina: C'mon, I'm pretty sure you actually know the answer to who I am. I've never once lied to anyone, but at the same time, I've made sure to not tell a everything about me.
Nanase: If you don't lie...then answer me this: Was it you who told those creeps from the mysterious organization about me being an In-Birth?
The was a brief moment of silence. Nanase could see Miolina's smile getting wider.
Miolina: Color me surprised...I didn't think you of all people would reach such a conclusion.
Nanase: ...
Miolina: Congratulations, you've found out the truth Miss Nanase! That's right, I'm the culprit of your surprisngly real fantasy.
Nanase: YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS!!!
Nanase flew at full speed towards Miolina, with anger swelling up in her body, ready to punish the one that ultimately, forced her to use her powers when she wanted them to just fade away with time. When Nanase closed in however, she was punched in the stomach, immidietaly stopping her advance.
Nanase: ARGH... (S-she's fast...)
Miolina: It's understandable that you are angry. I have nothing to say that will justify what I did.
Nanase: *cough* Do you have...any idea...of what you made me go through?
Miolina dodged a sword slash.
Nanase: I almost got kidnapped because of you! You made me use these dreaded powers when I'm trying to live a normal life.
Miolina: I'm aware. Well, you survived so that's a plus.
Nanase: ...
Miolina: Yeah, I missed the point...
Suddenly, Miolina dissapears from sight, appearing behind Nanase and grabbing her right after.
Nanase: W-What do you think you're...
Miolina: Hear me out for a while okay?
Nanase: What more there is to hear about you? Release me this instant!
Nanase felt something similar to an electric shock coursing through her body, preventing her from moving. Miolina directed her gaze towards the city while making sure Nanase would fall in the ground.
Miolina: There it is, our marvelous city where we live in...Being victim of an unfair crisis. You see, all the chaos that has been plaguing the city is a necessary evil for a noble cause. I can't really tell you the full the details, but if this city generates enough chaos, something great will happen that will save it.
Nanase: What?
Miolina: It'll make sense soon enough, no need to worry your pretty little head around it. Believe it or not, We're all doing this for a good cause. The city is facing a crisis, but the city is also struggling back with all of its might. We will be having truly a great expectacle that will be marked in the history books for years to come.
Nanase: What part of this is great? People are suffering because of you guys...
Miolina: The ending will be worth it. I'll be needing as much people as possible to make this a reality, and you're included in it as well. Of course, you don't have a choice, unless you want to be captured and experimented by that organization if you don't fight back. Besides, won't you be needing those powers of yours to confront your friend? What was her name again? Phonon?
Nanase: (Yoshiko...)
Miolina: Yep. You still have things to do with those powers of yours. Wheter you like it or not.
She lets go of Nanase, feeling that she wouldn't go for another attack anymore.
Miolina: I might help you with that if you want to. I know all there is to know about this city...This isn't totally right actually since there's some mysteries I still haven't solved.
Nanase: ...
Miolina: Yeah yeah, you don't really trust me, so I'll let you think a bit about that. I know you'll come for me for
information, I'm sure of it. Now then, I have some flames to put out. See you tomorrow at school...my dear classmate.
Nanase saw Miolina walk away, not doing anything to stop her, as much as she wanted. She knew for sure Miolina was
up to no good, but something was stopping her to go after her suspicious classmate.
Nanase: (C'mon...move...you're not paralyzed anymore...Teach her the lesson she deserves...don't fall for what she'ssaying Nanase...)
