Kazen and Cid took their seats at the control panels and began the firing sequence for the stadium. Raslan's grand machina stadium began operating slowly. The massive structure was not built over the water as numerous other stadiums. No, Raslan had a very specific and peculiar stadium. This stadium was one of Kazen's and Cid's design, the monolith of a structure extended out over the nearby harbor, and once it was in place it settled in. The stadium would encompass the whole of Raslan City's harbor while the tournament was in action. This scene was quite a spectacle of thousand year old technology and modern design; something Kazen loved.
"Cid, I think we've finally done it old man." He said with a grin as the gears and machines began working in conjunction, this machine would change the outlook everyone had on blitzball. It was Kazen's gift to the game.
"Don't get too cocky yet lad, there's still a ways to go before we test the sphere pool. But everything is running in the green zone." he said as he looked over the monitors in the control room and grinned alongside Kazen.
"Cid, this is our gift to Raslan. The stadium that this city deserves." Kazen said with a nod, he wanted this to succeed. For himself, and for Cid. The man was like a father to him.
"Kaz my boy, you'll see soon enough. Just wait, and don't take yer eyes off of those screens until we're in the clear." Cid said in reply.
Kazen continued to enter the commands necessary to control the stadium as it moved through the edge of the city, the harbor had been cleared away already, and it would remain closed to water traffic until the end of the season. This wouldn't put any of the locals at a disadvantage as most of the harbor had been used to stall Gummi and Airships. There had already been hangars and storage facilities set aside for the ships, and with any luck the stadium would be in place within the next few minutes. It was then that Kazen's wrist computer relayed the message from Xerson.
"Kazen we need to talk, meet me at Merric's lab." the computer announced aloud to the room.
"No, no boy. You'll have to wait. I need you here!" Cid said before Kazen could even ask to leave.
"Vilg oui." Kaz muttered under his breath in Al Bhed, his second language.
"E raynt dryd puo, fydlr ouin suidr." Cid said in reply, reaching over and giving him a swat to the back of his head.
"Rao, rao, rao! Fydlr ed!" Kazen said as he brushed Cid's hand away.
He'd have to leave soon, but luckily the stadium had eased into position and was ready for the next stage.
"Cid, I'm sorry, but this is very important. I have to run." he said as he stood and grabbed his overshirt. He was covered in dirt and grease, but he could change clothes later.
"Yeah, yeah. Give my regards to any you see on yer way out. And boy, you come back later. I refuse to run the sphere tests without you here." he said as he waved the boy off.
Kazen made his way out of the control room and down the hall to the lift. He headed up to the Raslan streets, and once there he caught a transport across town to one of the many entrances to Merric's labs. He chose one he frequented, it was in a back alley near and old hangar. He accessed the security panel and groaned quietly as the power was off. He kicked the converter box on the floor near the doorway and the screen flickered to life. In seconds he had keyed in his access code and stepped into the lift on his way down to Merric's lab. Once he'd stepped out of the lift and into the hallway he smelled the dank smell of darkness and dust.
"Xerson? Are you down here?" he called as he looked around the vacant lab, the work space was full of dust and as he activated the lights he found the mess that Alister and James had left behind, as well as the suits and the rest of the gear.
