i know, What I meant is that she's in service to the queen, but the queen tells her to go with the people there, since they'll need her defense more than she will.

Oh sure then.

I'm going to assume the answer is "no", but gonna ask anyway. Can I join Clayman with Maria mid-mission by being one of the White Queen's rooks? Obviously she'd be one of the newest ones, but her absolute defense would obviously be considered a bonus when protecting a person so important.

I don't have anything planned for the actual defence, other than a bunch of golems running around. The main mission is in the temple/ruins.

Hey all,I'm back. But I admit a bit lost and unmotivated. Unless I am really holding some story back, I might take a break as Nuka for a bit longer. Just know if someone really wants to move that lost plot forward just let me know and I'll add what I got. Looks like most of the players are in other stories. Just being honest.

Clayman only picked up again recently, but if you're lost you're free to ask questions.
Y'know, I think 2000 is covered. But I can't help but feel this needs a reply.

I won't lie, I haven't read all the posts, because I would catch sentences and make me flinch

Looks like we're on the same boat.

Truth is, when you're your average-looking, maybe not that attractive female, and you try to integrate a new group... It's difficult. If you're a male, I'm sorry - but it'll be very hard for you to put yourselves in a female's shoes.

That's odd, I find this rather... Silly.

I've spent a good year backpacking and occasion travel on my own. This means that to have any social contacts, you need to approach individuals or groups of people you don't know. I've approached a dozen of people. Hell, I've held a sales job. What it, in my experience comes down to, is that guys generally have a higher risk/reward ratio to mingling; something that drives them to either get better at mixing with new people or to stop trying. Girls have an incubation time, even if you don't look like *insert visually attractive celebrity here* Guys generally have to make-do with first impressions. Even when you did get into a conversation, generally for people it's far easier not to invite 'that awkward guy' than 'that awkward girl'. Especially in a mixed group.

Rather than going 'woe is me' for the first couple times you strike out though, you quickly learn that it's far more productive to simply change your approach and work on your attitude. I came from a rather exclusive group of high school friends, so meeting new kinds of people was hard. So there I am in a foreign environment, a 20 hour flight away from home. I didn't really have anywhere to crawl back to though, I didn't even have internet. tl;dr I didn't have a choice but to get better at meeting people. Here's what I learned; don't get discouraged by a few bad experiences. Just keep at it. The better you get at it, the better your chance of getting a yes. And what do you know; I did get better and more comfortable at approaching people. I can even be an arrogant dick while doing it, hell, that's how I introduce myself.

If you deny there is any sexism, you're either purposely avoiding realizing it, or you're so exposed to this kind of behaviour that you don't even realize that it is there.

There's discrimination everywhere. Gender, ideology, race, accent, education, etc. If you're on the receiving end this generally makes... Well, a lot of things harder. Try getting a job when you have dreadlocks and a beard (arguably these make interviews a lot more difficult than say, having a vagina.) Here's a secret though; just because something is harder doesn't mean it's impossible. It doesn't mean you have to swallow your identity or beliefs. It means you have to change your approach. At worst you have to get a haircut or wear a different shirt. Unless of course, you live in a patriarchy.

Because those communities used to be the outcasts, and that now they're the new kind of cool "uncool" kids, it's not the same thing as 20 years ago. There are trends, and looking/acting like a nerd/geek is one of them. I suppose this is why so many males have such a hard time accepting new females, or acknowledging that they might actually be more of a veteran. Because it used to be such an exclusive community, the kind where you need to know someone else in order to be part of it. It's like how most people think gamers are males, because it's how our sexist culture works - things for boys, things for girls.

Yeah, it's a new thing. People will get used to it soon enough. Not so much because of feminism, but more because of ;"Yeah I'm a girl, but what you should be more worried about is BOOM HEADSHOT. Check dat killstreak bitches."

Seriously, that'll get you a lot more respect. It's true that gaming and geek culture has mostly been a male-dominated culture, but that also means it values competition. Kick enough ass and people will have no choice but to respect you. Except maybe some teenagers. But guess what. Puberty does that.

I am sorry if I offend anyone, but even if I wouldn't be a feminist, I would still get a bitter laugh at most of the responses here. Saying that you don't think there is any actual discrimination towards genders is simply being naive and ignorant. Refusing to see inequalities is the best way to perpetuate them.Everyone's allowed to their opinions, but it comes a time where you have to make a distinction between your personal opinion and actual facts and statistics. It's not because you haven't experienced it as a male that it doesn't exist or doesn't happen to females.

Go into any PvP game and see what shit people yell at one another. Here's a small revelation; most of these people assume everyone is a guy. I think guys are generally a lot harder on each other. Even in my MMO-days, you didn't want to PUG as a male priest. People would make their priest female because they had at least a chance of others assuming they were girls. At this time gender-shielding was far more accepted than what I gather it is now, though.

Just quoting one of the most famous internet quotes:
Tits or GTFO!

You guys are the bait so they don't have to make a fuss entering the ruins?

Rather they deciphered something shortly after the initial deployment.

Let's say to 1 third normal. The ability is meant for her to act as a wall, standing between her allies and whatever is attacking them. Originally i just had it make her immobile, but that version was going to be a normal ability.I'm leaving it as is. I don,'t plan for Maria to have any offensive abilities that aren't primarily defensive. Her rediculous strength serves as her attack. Shield bash anyone?

Cool, works for me.

Heya, welcome to roleplayerguild. Your character looks in order, if a bit basic, for the most part. One thing of note is that our active abilities work with a posts, rather than in-game time, and other is that I'd like to see how far your shock spell can jump with it's active. If you'd fix and clarify chain lightning, that'd be great.

Also a bit of a nitpick, but if you could use links or hiders for your images? That'd make the entire thing easier to read over..

T_T I'm so proud of you, Adeline. I'm not sure if it's because I've been playing more outgoing/pro-active characters in other RPs, but I've finally made Adeline step up for once. Is it too soon for her to change out of her cowardly and negative personality? ...maybe not, since I've been playing her for so long.

Hah, now I'm all curious to see what she did.
A.) As a GM it's fine to make a certain option attractive. You can make it attractive to stab the poor old man, like describe how he hurls racist slurs if your psychotic character is also a minority, or describe his big fat purse if your psychotic character is largely motivated by money. Telling people what to do, on the other hand, is asking them to write your story for you, which is silly and a big turn-off for a lot of people.

B.) It's always good to have established goals. Both short and long term. Whether you want everything to be known to everyone or not depends on the nature of the roleplay. Both sides have pro's and cons, which are to be weighed according to the playerbase and direction of a game. If you want a mystery-game and surprise your players, by all means hide them. If you want a game more about combat or romance than information-brokering, keep it out in the open.

C.) Having a prophecy is fine, but blindly obeying it is stupid. Maybe the prophecy says something about a grand clash of blades at the last day of summer, but if I have a character who just wants the giant dead and at some point has a clear shot at said giant... They're probably going to take it. You need to be able to deal with this as a GM. Saying "Your character can't do this because plot." Is kinda like having invisible walls in video-games. It may be less epic, or less dramatic, but you can work around it and still have that clash. Maybe using bow and arrow is seen as cowardly by the enemy, a previous henchman takes up the mantle of commander and despite the loss of the giant, the evil army presses on because... They're simply not impressed or defeated; just enraged.

Here Cometh the Wolves still needed James (and maybe Saul) to post. So, no rush there.

Well, I for one think Saul's reaction would be good.
[Active] Titanic Defense: Maria replaces her armor with Titanus' own, turning her into an impregnable fortress of steel. The armor protects her from any physical damage, but greatly reduces her mobility. Duration 4, CD 20.

How much is her mobility reduced exactly?

Titanic Shield: Maria summons Titanus' shield, which has the same properties as his armor. Any physical blow that contacts the shield is turned away, and the impact behind the shield becomes negligable.

Defensive utility is great, but it's very easy to make a defensive character OP if you unlock decent offenses later on (the plan was to have a 4th ability slot introduced in a pre-guildfall mission.) I think it's best to offer you a choice regarding this ability; you can lower it's effectiveness a bit, or leave it like this but have me be a lot more picky about Maria's future abilities.

Titanic Crystal: Maria summons a crystal shield that absorbs any harmful magic directed at it. Each spell it blocks lights up one of the 12 crystal sections that make up the shield, and when 3 or more are filled Maria can release a shock wave from the shield, consuming the magic to force anyone in front of the shield backwards, as if she had Shoved them. (Every 3 crystals lit simulates 1 level of Shove)
[Active] Titanic Refraction: Instead of a shockwave, Maria can release the magic stored in the shield in it's original form, casting the spell meant for her at whomever she chooses. The spell is unchanged (If it was set to track her, it will still track her. If it couldn't effect the caster, it still won't.), but she releases it in the direction the shield is facing. Duration 1, CD 5+ CD of the spells released, if any. Only one spell in every set of three crystals can be cast.

Looks good.

And the rest of her character seems in order also. Just clarify/adjust a bit and I'll add her to the list (which I totally need to update.)

Can't wait for custom tabs to be implemented. This RP would benefit from it so much... I don't have to hunt for my own mission posts.

Yeah, that´ll be great indeed. It'd also save my having a dozen of links in the OP.

I was writing now and I felt I had to comment on something. At some point in the past, someone pointed out that the character "Simon Getskilled" had a... suspicious name. I hadn't realised that, as I always read it "Get Skilled" and only realised it could be "Gets Killed" when someone else (sorry I forgot who) pointed it out. Maybe a second reading of sorts? Haha!! Sorry, sorry...

I actually stole it from this.

chukklehed said
I probably only saw it that way because I was watching a youtube video, and one of the characters was "Guy Diesatstart". It had a scene that went:"What's your name?""Guy. Guy Diesatstart. And his name is Dude. Dude Alsodies.""Do you ever get the feeling your names bring with them a sense of impending doom?"*Shrugs*

They've lived so far and their parents seem to have made it to the point of reproduction. It's not so ominous when you put it into perspective ;)
