Character Creation

I have had a thought on this recently and wanted other opinions on this matter. Since its such a major thing in rp'ing characters are key. Personally I am very invested in character development and their stories, and even little habits. Not to long ago I began to look into how to deepen my characters development and it help me point out things about characters making them individual. Such as how they talk, body movement, their personality is the biggest thing, how differently they can act around other characters and if they act differently than you would? Even taught me how to fully image and elaborate my character. I have a few reference links just for those purposes:

So my general question is do you make new characters often? Do you feel they are noticeable characters? And when you do make your character how do you usually get inspired for new characters? Does your characters ever seem too "out of character" or "Stepping out of character" for you to feel connected to them? Or do you have that one main character that you cherish or use often?

Usually I don't like using CS's but I have even found it really helps using an advance CS just soulfully for yourself to help you imagine and understand just how your character works if you plan on trying to plan out all these little details.

First off let me start by saying I'm Killas, an enthusiastic in-late-teens, female with insanely ridicules colorful hair. I been friends of the guild for a few years and I have been rping for about 7-8 years. I like being chill buddies. I am going to admit I am a bit of a procrastinator but I will truly try to keep decently consistent with posts. Being involved in a good plot with deep character development will keep me hopping on the wagon everyday.

Writing is a passion and so is getting creative with someone else about it. I play a shit ton of video games and MMO's, watch anime and drama tv series like Vikings, Dexter, Being Human, etc. I am open to all kinds of humor. Tumblr'ing, tweeting, blogging, whatever I am online and home nearly every day due a health condition keeping me home bound. I enjoy a healthy amount of time spent communicating with one another, I like knowing we are both comfortable with what is going on in the rp or the decisions made in the story. I have fun learning about the other player as much as I do learning about their characters. :'D

And to clarify I don't have any request that you roleplay Male or Female, FxF FxM and MxM is totally fine with me but MxM Is my preference Yaoi is something I adore to play roles in, it be Shonen-ai, Fluff, or Smut. Which answers one question: I do not mind smut but I do dearly wish to have story depth or drama to make the smut even better. Pure smut is just WAY over done for me. So in advanced here are the rules I have:

The basics

Grammar: Grammar I am not too much of a prick or a Nazi about but do punctuation as well as you can, I can't STAND getting confused over a sentence because a comma wasn't included in the WHOLE paragraph! Don't you ever get confused?? Don't do me that way, use your commas please. (Ps: lesser text talk, the better)

Length: I can understand that writing a lengthy line of a few paragraphs can be a pain in you aren't into the story; but if thats not the case then please DO feel free to write as much as you want, I am invested in high casual-advanced and will match up with you! It feels rude to write so little after someone rights so much. I happen to get carried away with writing more in a reply than needed. Hehe. ^__^'

Maturity/Sex/Drugs/Abuse/etc/: No problem friend! Infact I really insist you use gore, violence and mind fuckery! These are alright with me. I love having a steamy scene here and there just not all the damn time. I could care less about the drugs if they whip out a joint so be it, and violence is a nice spice to the story sometimes too. I just hope you don't intend to make your characters helpless, in pain and in need 90% of the time. *sigh*

Location:I am looking to rp on the site right now since I am interested in being social with other players but being on a PC I am available for anywhere else and will be willing to try new programs or IM's. I do e-mail, use the Hangout extension, I don't like skype, and PM's are preferred on the guild. I also have my own hosted forum site we can use if you wish. But messaging or PM'ing would be easier on me than IM'ing.

I'd like an invested partner: Its pretty common to drop from an rp from lost interest, I'm not asking you to do this but if you feel it's just not that interesting as you wanted, or things aren't that good in the story then tell me. Maybe we can elaborate the story more and make it to our liking, and if not we can both walk away. In general I'd like to talk a little time to time and be good friends, so if things don't seem to be working out I'll understand and super glad you tried with me.

Character sheets: I could care less if we use one or not, but even if you wish to do so then I don't care if you imagine your character as in realistic or anime because the best part is you imagine the scene differently than I do. Therefore; if your sheet is an anime character than ditto, I like anime, real photography person? Still great, gives the realism effect. If you don't want to use a sheet then thats even better because then I can learn more and more about your character as the story goes.

If these rules are simple enough then before you PM or anything I guess I should suggest some things that could get things going such as my interests. I am not that picky about settings like, Sci-fi, fantasy, modern, school, etc but just to bolden things the categories I really am interested in is Nordic fantasy, or Dark age era's, such as in medieval.

Defined Categories

To accentuate the things I would be interested in and most of these are in SHORT just for us to get started so I don't expect them to stay that simple and boring:

- In a medieval era or in the Mid-century A war has brought sickness to the large city, and demolished portions of the town. Walls were built around the city and now things have fallen to hell. People are dying and the corpses are usually left unattended. Is anyone going to fix things around here, or is it just going to fall to shit? (MxM FxM FxF)

-Two characters meet at a bar one night and leave together. One gets a nasty surprise when they find out the other is a vampire and goes on from there (We can elaborate) (MxM FxM FxF)

-One character is a drug dealer and the other is a buyer, they decide to hit up again to hangout and things go from there (We can elaborate) (MxM FxM FxF)

-One character gets his/her drink roofied and finds that they were taken to someones locked house only it seemed they weren't the first victim. The more the kidnapped character is encountered with the kidnapper it turns out to be their closest internet friend. (Serial killer based) (MxM FxM)

-Both characters are in a mental institution and are both patients then begin decide to buddy up *cough*lovingly*cough* and decide to work together to escape (MxM FxM FxF)

-Again, an Asylum to the mental institution "The Red Retreat" Stationed out on an island for escape precautions. It is portrayed to the citizens as just a facility for the mentally damaged when in actuality it is where many scientist of all kind use these patients as experiments, filling them up with the idea that their actions are "treatment". These treatments get malicious and uncivilized. A victim (Your character) is meeted by a scientist and an assistant that could potentially fall deeply for them and begin to expose the secrets to the victim eventually planning an escape with them. (MxM FxM)

-ANY plot or story you would be up for trying I will definitely listen!!! Don't be afriad to share you ideas I am just as dumbfounded when it comes to random plots. ALSO, we can talk about the characters we want to use and make a story that could fit them nicely.

One last big thing you need to know. I'm not big on doing fan rps. I get to anxious and antsy about writing the characters wrong from the way they should be. Sorry but I can't do those. ALTHOUGH, I can do a fan based rp as OC's. Say we do a Vikings rp, Shingeki No Kyojin, Deadman wonderland, etc. Just as long as I don't have to be an actual character from the show but still get in our own characters stories. So in short, Original Characters please!! Don't ask me but I really am uncomfortable with any furries, or furry like characters, if they just have certain attributes like heightened smell or hearing that is fine, anything of that sort. But with all the tails, ears, or fursonas isn't so much in my comfort zone... Lets just say it might have bad experience? Sorry!

I really don't mind if these characters are Demon, Angel, Fae, Werewolf, elf, drow, vampire, etc just whatever character you find would fit the story then so be it! I also don't mind backstories for your characters just try not to go to crazy in the beginning? As the story goes on and I find out more about them it's perfect! But I can't take an overwhelming story all at once.

All in all here is an example of my work just incase my style isn't exactly what you were looking for (Sorry it might be confusing this is a three week old reply that was on a just started rp! To summon it up he just met a man named Shadow.)

Example

Killas was feeling squirmy but didn't dare to move any limb except his hands so he continued to pushing his fingers raw over each other and pulling on the loose strings hanging off the tattered mess on the so called sleeves. He nearly began biting the inside of his cheek if he didn't pay attention to his own movements he would have done worse tell-tales. The elf began to get increasingly self conscious about his own body language seeing how comfortable and loose Shadow's muscles were, was he being too worried about this. He couldn't think about physiologically why Shadow was so calm and adjusted well around him, he was positive he was over thinking all of this way too much.

Killas perked up shifted his shoulders and then sat back trying to relieve himself forcing himself to believe that the man on the couch with him was nothing to immediately worry about, surely his father wouldn't let anything happen by the hands of this stranger right? However the circumstances he was going to try his best to control his paranoia and have a decent, normal conversation at the least. He soaked up the silence that they shared for the moment being and used it to analyze the facial features on the purple haired Shadow. It was odd for him and he still didn't understand what was going on, this man had a strong relationship with his father, why?

It was antagonizing the elf not knowing, his teeth released his bottom lip finally hearing Shadow talk to him expecting him to explain why he knew Darkell and his intentions in their house. Instantly he was dismayed by what Shadow told him he configured his face in offense, What the hell is this guys talking about? skeptical he parted his lips and deepened his brows, there was no way he was accusing him these insane things like they were facts. He shot up ready to defend himself, wait, did he just ask about the beatings? Breath shot so fast in the blonde's lungs he choked on it staring wide eyed uncontrollably shaking. How could he describe all of these things so vividly, how could he know these things.

"N-no, stop!"

he attempted to make the horror movie that was playing in his head stop. This was so surreal he wanted to convince himself he was having a deranged dream that he couldn't wake up from. But it was all very real in fact he could feel the sting in his throat burn like a open fire, it felt like someone pouring citric acid in a open wound as Shadow went on. His body shuttered and coughing to relieve this stiff pain Killas hardened his face.

"Why, why the hell would you say that? How do you know this?.... I can't be talking to you about this." he warned this now alerting person, he couldn't get a grip his chest felt like it was mangled and ready to burst, ears red and pounding with blood he restrained himself from getting over emotional.

I didn't do it, I didn't do it, I didn't say anything, I don't know him, stop him, stop his lungs from working!

The blonde wasn't taking this well he even overlooked the insult about not admiring the house enough, which he found absurd since he lived in this house since he was deported. Flashes were hitting him like a steady rhythm, the shame and guilt, the fog that trapped his mind in soiled thoughts and memories. His stomach churned a image burning behind his eyes of laying stiffly on the tile floor waiting endlessly like a dead dog waiting for the predator to think the prey is done and dead, being a rag doll ready for disposal but that was the thing wasn't it? It never ended, the limbo of never gaining perceptive before the next attack begun before every hit and exploitation. It was like your body didn't even belong to you, your own skin was a putrid drape and you were a revolting abomination.

"A-and your not even going to tell me your name after the shit you just said??" Killas exasperated finally realizing just where he was and who was causing these things to come back. It wasn't fair, his father lightened up and he wasn't so violent. He couldn't relapse these memories now. This boy was definitely in panic mode now, he was ready to ask a million question a minute. With his heart fluttering inhumanly he continued, "You can't tell me who I am to my father, who are you to tell me these damned things?" Was this purple haired man going to destroy everything he had going for him now? So many questions eating his mind. "I demand answers, what the hell does Keyas mean?" Killas blinked a few times he couldn't take himself apart now, he couldn't, overwhelming anxiousness was unfurling like a wild fire.

Welcome!~I love FMA and would be delighted to see how that cosplay turns out. I am quite a big fan of gender-bend cosplays. I always wanted to do one myself, but I have not done one yet for some reason or another. I do however have some ideas for a female versions of the fourth doctor and Light Yagami.I sorry my first question was a bit hard to answer, I don't blame you. I just decided to put it out there to spark a conversation. I have trouble picking between my favorite anime as well. It is nearly impossible.Noragami is one of my favorite anime that is airing right now. I am also watching Hamatora, Pupa, and Samurai Flamenco. I am enjoying all of them, however, I have to say I am quite frustrated with Hamatora and Samurai Flamenco at the moment, for reasons I would rather not go into detail. Thank you for the complement, it took me a while to find that exact gif from the opening. As for the lyrics, I know them by heart. I might change it to Guilty Crown soon, though.

Haha yeah I am just excited to cosplay Fem Ed because I am literally 1 inch shorter than that little fry, but I can deeply understand his hate for milk at the same time. Gender bend cosplays are intriguing being able to come up with your idea on how a character would be with the opposite gender and a fem Light sounds so awesome!! Sadly the con I am going to is in like, two more months. D: I know a little about the game The World Ends With you, but I know enough that, that cosply will be awesome. xD

Nah don't mind it, with so many animes out there it really is hard to depict just which one is the fav, but its such a conversation starter question, its hard to avoid.OH! and I forgot one, Dead Man Wonderland is at the top of my list its so gruesome I can't get over the opening song as well. I would title more of my personal favorites but that might just end up as a list. Haha.

I read the Pupa Manga so its sooo exciting to see it getting aired! Its more different than I expected but then again any animation based off a Manga or book is going to be different for viewer interest purposes.

The entire song memorized? Wow, I have a hard time remembering a entire song alone, except the majority of the opening song for Noragami since its just so catchy and the band Sleeping Sirens seems to be the new modern jap band getting good hits.

Seems we have a few cosplayers in this thread :'D The next con I'm going as Fem Edward Elric, due to him being my spirit animal and all, hahahaha.

Personally I think it's difficult to even pick an anime that could be my favorite because here is so many different things in an anime that are better than others. Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion including R2 has such a insane suspense and plot twist factor. Then we have classic Cow boy bebop which is fantastic, FMA + brotherhood, but I think my favorite is the newer anime Shingeki No Kyojin.

What newer animes have you guys been watching? I'm recently watching Noragami.

Ps: I love your Darker than black siggy and Vash siggy, the manga was great.

This week on Noragami: "Things get deep"

I was wondering if anyone has seen the recent episode of Noragami on 3/2/14, and their ethoughts on that? I know things were getting pretty serious with Yukine being a little punk and increasing Yato's blight but DAYUM. Things got real cray, I mean cray all over the place. Over all I do think it was a great episode and the character development is fantastic, and not to mention the little animations on the lighting. I guess it's not just the pretty colored eyes that draw in attention.
