The story so far...
April 1, 2015 19:56
A group of students board the last train of the evening leaving the school district to the inner city and a strange phenomenon occurs; the atmosphere changes, the city seems darker, more desolate, and their electronics no longer work properly—constantly projecting strange noises and static. They find themselves in a world that mirrors their own, where the conscience of people exist in the form of Persona and can be summoned through the medium that has become their cell phones and handhelds. A place where denizens called Shadows roam the city, devouring all they come across and changing the very landscape with their unnatural presences. These students have been given the ability to combat Shadows, to change what both worlds reflect in one another but…

Recently, there has been a spur of violent crimes...It wasn't something people initially paid mind to but has now come to the attention of the public as an epidemic with no known cause—even people who have never lashed out at anyone, those who can easily control their tempers, suddenly become violent and temperamental. While they seem to mostly be in their right mind set, the sudden change in personality doesn't make sense, especially when it's affected so many people on mass scale including young children and animals. Even so, there has yet to be a serious incident and it is because of this that the residents of Iwara City remain unconcerned with what's going on. What's a few thousands victims to the six million other citizens, right?
SettingIwara City
The year is 2015; Iwara is a highly developed city and at its center is Iwara Radio Tower, a structure so massive in scale (approximately 600 meters) that it can be seen from virtually anywhere in the city. While the inner city is a metropolis, the outer city contrasts this with its suburbia although large in its own right as it almost entirely circles the inner city. Oddly, all the schools are located in the same general area; the various elementary and junior high schools, but those that stand out are West Kokusai Senior High School, Kanagawa High School, Tennoji Junior High School, the all-girls Eiwa Senior High School, and the private school Karasuma Academy, making for a very diverse gathering of students and teachers. However, the schools are located far away from the city and residential areas and the trains are the only means of reaching the schools for many students.
West Kokusai Senior High School is the second largest high school in Iwara City (Karasuma Academy being the largest) but largest of municipal schools in the district. This massive building is six stories and has a large population of varying students. It’s industrious and busybody students largely reflect the inner city from which majority of the students live.
Kanagawa High School is a small and old building although well-maintained. While the facilities are rather uninspiring when compared to West Kokusai or Karasuma, Kanagawa has a reputation for its academics which sometimes push to brutal levels. However, because of his size and more community-oriented system, Kanagawa tends to be more lax with its students.
Tennoji Junior High School is an average junior high which excels at sports rather than academics. Unfortunately, while they have many winning teams, there are no high schools in the area for their students to follow up on their athletics. The athletic facilities in Tennoji are very diverse and large in size, sometimes even renting out space to professionals.
Eiwa Senior High School is the oldest, still-standing school in Iwara City. It was originally built as a school for girls and even in the present is an all-girls school. Despite its age, a lot of time and money is invested in keeping facilities up-to-date and has expanded from one small building to thirteen over the course of several decades. Slightly upscale, the school expects a lot from its student body and their academics.
Karasuma Academy is a private academy that offers K-12 classes meaning that most of its student body has been attending Karasuma since they were able to start schooling. Massive in size, Karasuma Academy still manages to hide itself behind foliage and open fields—it is very exclusive and only the elite are allowed to attend.
Rules/InformationPosting limit: The posting limit will be three times a day MAX. The minimum is one post every three days, that’s twice a week and I hope will be accommodating to people with busy schedules. If there’s an issue please tell me!
The story so far…: Above you’ll see a ‘story so far’ section, that is to hopefully keep people up to date with what’s going. Chances are a plot relevant event won’t happen unless everyone’s posted at least once but just in case, I’ll be putting what’s currently going in the roleplay in this section so anyone who has less frequent posts or had to leave for a while knows what’s going on.
Unexpected absences: If you need a break for whatever reason (and “not feeling like it right now” is an acceptable answer to me, don’t force yourself to write if you’re not feeling it) then please PM me or post message here in the OOC. We’ll give your character a reason not to be there however if you don’t say anything and don’t show up for two weeks then we will assume your character has fallen prey to Shadows and/or has become one of the violent citizens and are in a mental hospital. We will then move and (possibly) find a replacement.
Reservations and Character creation: I don’t reserve spots, characters will be judged based on quality, you can find the template below and feel free to hit me up with a PM if you have any questions or would like me to look over your character in private. IN REGARD TO BACKGROUNDS, if you have information you’d like to keep secret about your character, then send me the information via PM. After all, it’s more fun when we don’t know everything about your character!
Naming your character: This setting takes place in the fictional city Iwara City, in Japan. Unless your character is foreign, they should have a Japanese name. A real one. I won’t be allowing “Hikadalika Yashamuka”, it really takes away from the immersion of the roleplay.
