Elliot focused and it took him many tries, but finally, he lit JUST the wick of the candle. He figured he would take away one of the components necessary for fire, so he cupped his hands around it and sucked all the oxygen out of the air near the candle, making it snuff itself out.

Melody was having more trouble. She couldn't seem to get the hang of the fire. It just wouldn't light no matter how hard she tried. She was seeing everyone else light their candles, and was starting to wonder why she couldn't just light hers.
Elliot had listened attentively to lady violetta's words, and spaced out on the candle, trying to imagine a wave of intense heat on top of the candle. Suddenly, as he was concentrating, the wick lit, but so did the ENTIRE candle. Fire shot up into his face, and Elliot shielded his face with his arm.
Melody had lost her appetite, although she did feel slightly better about going home now. She ate a bit more then headed towards the demonstration lab, where she entered, the first one there. Elliot, hearing lady Violetta say this, ran up to the buffet and grabbed a quick 5th serving before the buffet closed. He ate like crazy because he had an abnormally fast metabolism, it just burns off like *that*.
Melody was surprised when Dante sat down next to her. "I- um, I'm just worried about how my moms gonna worry when I never came home." She half-lied to him, she really was concerned about how she would react, but mostly she was scared she would be angry, and she may have left out that bit.
Melody was thinking about her mother all morning. What would her mother do without her? Would her mother hit her when she got back? All of these things made Melody feel uneasy, and she couldn't focus on the meditation activity. It was like a cloud of anxiety hung over her. Elliot, on the other hand, was fine with the activity, and could easily block everything else out. He had practised meditating before just to get some calm, so it wasn't new to him.

Afterwards, Elliot walked alone to the dining hall and got himself an omelette and some French toast, with tea to drink. Melody got some chocolate milk along with some bacon and eggs, and sat down, eating unenthusiastically thinking about her mother. Elliot however, sat next to Melody and started go urging down his food. Melody's mood wasn't being helped by this obnoxious boy. He was on his third serving when Melody got up and walked to an empty table to sit down, sick of him.
I apologize for my unexplained absense, lots of drama has happened this week, it's all family troubles.
Elliot walked to the back of the room after receiving the creeper, and picked up a black pillow lined with white stitches. Melody grabbed a white pillow with black stitches, and they sat two feet apart from each other, waiting for their next instructions.
Elliot walked out of his room, seeing Melody on the other side of the hall, looking extremely groggy. They both wandered down to the non-magical floor, Melody a bit slower that Elliot, and going towards lady Violetta.
I like it a lot, because in America it's all more modern I would think, rebellious teenagers skating around on flying skateboards seems funny to me, more realistic, but still kinda funny.
I'm picturing people in a massive ring throwing fire and curses at eachother mixed in with physical attacks.

I'm in.
