You once instantly translated foreign languages out of thin air, so what's wrong with instantly knowing a foreign computer system and knowing how to download all of its data? It really is not any different at all.

To be fair, no one is going to list every piece of military and non-military technology in their nation sheet. I know I didn't. Not only would that take an ungodly amount of time to do, but why would I display all of my offensive and defensive technologies for all to see?As for the computer system bit, hacking and such in SciFi NRPs is almost always portrayed poorly. The biggest offender is how writers present computer break-ins of military-grade hardware/software as something that can be done in mere seconds. Which is ridiculous.

Agreed. Sadly, it seems some people do not know how to distinguish OOC knowledge from IC knowledge
Yeah, I'm here. Work has control of me and I'm wrasslin' ot. Expect a post tomorrow or tonight. Probably tomorrow after Z's
Are we bringing up the Rogue or Duck arguments again?
You're not making yourself look any better, Duck.
Planet N1

When the Plaerique heard the being try to speak in its language it backed off, feeling threatened and it hissed, but as it it did the other Plaeriques grouped up on it and shoved it, making clicking sounds as they spoke to each other, forcing it to calm down. However, as the Plaerique hissed, one of the Hiveships began to move in. The largest one, the one that had stayed back from earlier.

"Beings."

A message was being broadcasted. Telepathically, as a radio signal, sound or electronic wave, anything. The Praefectus decided to communicate, but it didn't know the best way.
It's telepathic communication is non-invasive compared to what it does to other Esurienti. To non-Esurienti it's like whispers, not really inside the head at all.

"We. Are. Convergence."
"We. Studied. You. To. Learn."
"Sorry. If. We. Frightened. Beings."
"We. Did. Not. Know. Your. Language. Until. Now."

There was a pause, a silence.

"We... ... ... call ourselves... ... The Convergence."

There were pauses, but they were quickly getting better at communication with the other beings, grasping their language.

"We sensed the fighting, and we... witnessed another species that... acts like... us? We wanted to kill them. We are... attracted to war, we like to... observe. Learn, evolve, spread. Th... things. Like us, we dislike. We... wanted to see if you would attack us if we.... attacked them."

"We will not fight beings like ...You. Unless you harm Us. If Co-existence is possible, we must meet."

And then everything went silent. The whisper did not speak again, it waited for the beings response. However, on the hull of that ship, something began to happen. A few of the Plaeriques began to make noises and curl up, some lost their hold on the hull and began to float off. They began coughing and gagging, one by one they eventually stopped moving, excreting secretions from their mouths and other areas. It was harmless bodily fluids, but what it meant was that they were beginning to die.
The last few of the Plaeriques would only have mere minutes before they would begin to die as well. They made barking sounds at the Beings and opened and closed their mouths, trying to simulate something... what they needed, but they didn't think the Beings would catch on, as they didn't know how to properly communicate. The Praefectus had released control of them, as they were dying from being without oxygen for too long.
Ah, my bad. The only reason the Convergence would try to dominate or control a planet would be to kill the life on it because they enacted war against them. Most Esurienti eat the creatures that inhabit a planet. And no, they do not distinguish every sentient being to be food like the other Hive Mind. They know the difference between a foraging and herding creature from a being that has power and intellect. Other Esurienti act like plants or crops, taking nutrients from the ground. They don't really care for items or resources and are actually not fond of extermination.
Head on battles, the Convergence would need all 200 of their ships. Maybe half to fight just one Nation. But their ships will have long intervals before any arrive. And the 200 may not even come to this galaxy. But 1 Hive has the ability to take a Nation on when it has landed on a planet and is fighting a Nation on the ground only. It can, not saying it is guaranteed, just increased chances.

The Convergence prefer co-existence, to learn from other races and adapt and evolve. They get a "good feeling" from actually evolving into something new or adding something new, so they like to observe other species and take their traits
I'm sorry, I don't know why I didn't see it before. That dispute made me think of The Avengers
First of all, I said I didn't care who Rogue was. Second of all, why don't you both just drop it? Tell me, no, tell Keyguy what the Title of this thread says. The more that Rogue is talked about, the more accusations as to who Rogue is and/or how shitty Rogue is will end up in a thread massacre. Dammit I'm all for discussions and free topics but jeezes, this has gone on long enough. This is not progressing the roleplay. Now if Keyguy is actually fine with you two wailing and going at each other, fine. But I don't need to witness it at every refresh. This stuff has gone on before I joined and after. Now it may not be my place to barge in and say stop seeing as how everyone else has stayed calm but can we please further the roleplay?

Is Rogue in this roleplay? No. Has Rogue corrupted or affected this roleplay? No. Is Rogue here? No. Rogue is/was an individual that played in a previous roleplay. and has nothing to do with this roleplay, whether or not he inspired any actions or results within this roleplay.

The only thing making him relevant are two players accusing one to be the individual and another simply speaking about what the individual did. What does he have to do with the roleplay and why must people be outcasted and berated because of him against each other? That is not a public event, that should be handled with PM's and not broadcasted to be forced on everyone else.
I don't know who rogue is and I don't care. If you are it does not matter to me at all. You are a logical, sensible and intelligent individual without power hungry gains and abuaive conduct. You are A-OK in my book
