Nice first posts, everyone! This is coming along nicely :)

Rock Killjoy and KurtyKool - To be fair, I'll wait until KurtyKool finishes Grojan's CS and then decide who's accepted or not, since this isn't just on a first-come, first-served basis. No need to rush, though.
Alright, that's all I was worried about!
I'm definitely interested in this, but I wonder how many roleplayers you'd like to join? This looks like it would have to be huge.
First post is up! Feel free to put your characters in wherever they'd fit best. Just so you guys know, I'll be on vacation until Sunday and I probably won't be able to reply until then.

Angela glared at the figure on the television screen until she memorized every inch of 'king' Bradley's too-pretty face. His teeth obviously had been whitened to the point of glaringly bright, his face doctored until he looked every bit the young king ready to take the throne. He was, according to records, forty-six. His blond hair was perfectly manicured in curls across his head, and he wore a suit that looked to be worth more than its weight in gold.

She hated him already. And that was before his speech that proclaimed he would be getting rid of the assassins that had basically run the country since Angela could remember, and he was starting here - in her city, New Providence. That had been a week ago.

Crowds had gathered for another of his speeches today, one where he would be answering questions on his radical new program and generally making himself look good in the public's opinion. He had also announced a 'surprise event,' which made the assassin even more nervous; it wouldn't be good.

Angela couldn't decide yet whether he deserved to die today. Certainly, he should die, but it was only a matter of time. Although, there were bound to be dozens of other assassins after him, and she wouldn't let the others take all the glory. After all, she had a reputation to keep up.

Gun safely slung in a bag across her back, Angela turned off the television as she closed the door to her apartment. The session would start soon, but Bradley liked the sound of his own voice. It would be long before it was over.

She didn't mind being late to the party. Her destination was simple enough - the roof of an abandoned apartment building two blocks away from the central square. From there, she would have a clear view of the event through her scope. It was the best spot for an assassination like this, without a spot for a counter sniper if you were on the right side. The wind was finicky up high, but Angela didn't mind waiting for it to die down.

Throwing caution to the polluted breeze, Angela stepped onto the sidewalk and followed the flow of the crowd until she was where she needed to be. Angela slipped into an alleyway and climbed in through a broken window into the lobby. This place hadn't been used since - well, forever. A long time ago, it must've been beautiful. Arching windows lined the now boarded up entrance doors, reaching all the way up to the ridiculously high ceiling. The pillars lining the rotting carpet were crumbling but still enough to keep the building upright. People somewhere between dead and alive littered the floor in various stages of drug-induced peace.

Angela paid them no attention and made her way to the staircase, which was in surprisingly good condition. She climbed with ease until the top and came out on the roof, admiring the fact that spring was truly here. It was a gorgeous day, but storm clouds were in the distance. It would rain tonight.

Without bothering to see if anyone else was here, Angela set up where she would be almost invisible to the other buildings. She had to sacrifice her view of the doorway, but Angela wasn't too keen on getting shot today. It was impossible to not run her fingers along the cool, smooth metal of the barrel before setting it on the ledge. Angela attached the scope with practiced ease, and laid down on the concrete, peering through it at the city below.

King Bradley looked even more disgusting in real life than on camera. Usually, whenever she was on an assignment, her anger dissipated - but she simply hated the king too much. Her fingers itched to pull the trigger, but she would have to wait until he started his grand speech. She had made good time on the way here and still had a few minutes left to go. His makeup artists were applying last-minute touch-ups on the spot. It was certainly a funny sight, but Angela was too angry to feel anything remotely happy with the king in her sights.

Angela's impatient wait was rewarded when the event started, first with the sound of trumpets and a deafening noise by the huge crowd that had gathered for the event. From what Angela could see, most of them were commoners, hoping for a life where they wouldn't have to constantly fear their own assassination. They crowded the square and spilled out onto the streets - there had to be thousands of people here. It angered Angela even more that they all appeared to be genuinely happy; didn't they realize that this politician was just like the rest?

She flinched for a moment when the address began. He was loud, even from this far away; she couldn't imagine what it must be like down below, right next to the speakers. She didn't see anybody complaining, but that would make sense with the number of security guards down below.

"Friends, family, people of this country... Today is the dawn of a new world. Today, we will be freed from oppression!"

Deafening cheers from the entire crowd. Angela fought the urge to gag when he put his hand up, and the silence fell just as quickly. The people below were more like sheep than humans.

"Today, we will start with the persecution of one of the assassins who has kept us in fear for so long; he has killed over one hundred people, all in the name of terror. Today, this man, Hugo Simmons, will die."

Stunned silence from most of the crowd, but they roared when a man was brought up onto the stage; Angela grimaced when she realized she recognized him. The fact that he had been captured already wasn't surprising considering his total lack of discretion; he might as well have shouted "I'm an assassin" to the world. He was tall, with graying black hair and a face that looked odd without an easy smile. He looked as beaten as the dogs that wandered the streets; Angela was almost tempted to shoot him out of mercy, but she only had enough time for one good shot before she had to be up and running.

Seeing the arrival of an old friend in chains made her angrier than ever; the only thing keeping her from pulling the trigger was the sudden gusts of wind from all directions. She'd have to wait for the right moment to kill the man this country called king.
True, true. Give me some time to write a first post and then we can start :)
Random sounds best. Just so you guys know, I'm going away (again) from Thursday-Sunday, and I'm not sure how much time I'll have to reply and such.
I'd be fine with the chuunin exams in konoha. I can't wait to kick naruto's ass :)

O.o where is your CS kitty?

Right here! Sorry, I've been working on it on my own.

Name: Kaoru Takata
Epithet: None.
Gender: Male
Age: 11
Rank: Genin
Affiliation: The Village Hidden in the Mist

Appearance: He has messy, sandy blond hair and always looks like he's in need of a haircut. His eyes are a light sky blue, and always seem to reflect back whatever emotion he's feeling if you know what to look for. Kaoru is very short, around 5'2" - but that doesn't stop him from training. He's muscular for a kid his age, and is very skilled in taijutsu as a result. He normally wears black loose-fitting shorts and a white t-shirt. In the cold, he switches to leggings and a long-sleeved shirt. He prefers not to wear shoes in the summer, but during the winter he wears the standard issue sandals.

Kaoru is by no means the most powerful jinchuuriki, but he has enough chakra to wipe out a good-sized village. That being said, all that chakra has to go somewhere, and he channels it into his training. If he doesn't use up some of his extra chakra, he's bound to lose control of it when performing ninjutsu or genjutsu that require specific chakra control. He's not very good at controlling his chakra in the first place, so a lot of his attacks will get out of hand or won't be powerful enough unless he uses up a lot of chakra first. His bijuu is a six-tailed ocelot. She's perpetually angry, and lashes out at him simply for existing as her prison, claiming there’s no reason for her to continue living when she has to learn to work with him. Many times she'll dump chakra into his system out of rage, and he has to find a way to get rid of it. She constantly talks to him, belittling him and telling him how weak he is and that he'll never get anywhere.

Personality: Kaoru's not one to start fights, but he has been caught up in more than a few; this led to his abilities in taijutsu. He believes that he shouldn't even be on a team if he can hurt them accidentally, and doesn't think that he'll be able to learn to control his chakra. Many good-intentioned jounin have tried to teach him in the past, but it never worked out very well. Due to the bijuu constantly talking in his ear, he's selfless to the point where he will sacrifice himself for others without a second thought; he doesn't think he's worth as much as them, even if he is a jinchuuriki. He doesn't really know how to respond when people see him as more than a necessary evil, or a dangerous, uncontrollable cage. He's very soft-spoken but has strong opinions, and he hates more than anything to go against what he believes in. Many times, he simply will refuse. This small amount of willpower has kept him from being taken over by the tailed beast. On a good day, he'll go and get some groceries, go to training, and talk to a few people about simple things related to the weather. On a bad day, he can't even get out of bed; he'll miss assignments and training and tell them later that he was sick, or he had something more important to do. The Mizukage knows what happens when he has bad days, but there's not much that can be done. He pushes away the people who try to help him - they always end up being the ones who hurt him, in the end. There has been talk of moving the bijuu to a better candidate, but the Mizukage has a soft spot for Kaoru and sees potential somewhere in him. Moving the tailed beast would most likely kill Kaoru, and the Mizukage would at least want to see what Kaoru’s potential is as a Genin.

Signature Moves:
Dynamic Entry (Rank D): The user throws an object, usually a kunai, to distract their opponent while jump-kicking them in their blind spot.
Hidden Mist Technique (Rank D): The user creates chakra either from a water source or their own mouth (in Kaoru’s case, he needs a water source) and can make it thicker by kneading more chakra into it.
Shadow Clone Technique (Rank B): Where the user creates corporeal copies of themselves, and their chakra is divided evenly between however many there are.

Field of Specialty: Taijutsu, however he’s more evenly balanced between ninjutsu and taijutsu.

Weapons: Standard-issue kunai and shuriken.

Weaknesses: Although Kaoru is skilled in taijutsu, he just doesn’t have the height or weight in order to take on bigger opponents. In this case, he’ll normally resort to ninjutsu or using shadow clones. He can get distracted by his bijuu, and when she dumps chakra into his system his clones will be interrupted, or he’ll be forced to use up the chakra so he can more easily control his attacks.

History: He was born into the Mist as a normal child, and given the bijuu around age six. There were mixed opinions about him - whether he would grow up to be a monster or not. His parents were more scared of him than the most superstitious citizens, and send him to an adoption center less than a week after he was given the six-tails. Kaoru was adopted by a string of people who were just curious about the bijou, and would forget that he was an actual boy, not just a vessel for a monster. Each time, he'd run away back to the orphanage, and after the fourth time it grew to be his permanent home. He grew up with a few loose friends at the center, but he heard the conversations they had when they thought he couldn't hear about how he was too timid to function or how they were waiting for him to turn into a monster. Shortly after that, the bijuu started speaking to him, at first lightly chiding him for being so young and so foolish, but later becoming angry as the days wore on. She also revealed that she simply had no desire to live any longer, and was waiting for the day when she could wear Kaoru down enough to kill him. After this, he threw himself into his studies, chanting "shut up" to the bijuu in between every punch, every kick. She still talked, and told him how he'd never be good enough to be an actual ninja, not when his kicks were too low and his punches too weak. So Kaoru set out to prove her wrong, and he finally did when he graduated the Academy a year ahead than most children.
Oooh I'm so excited to see how this will play out!
They help keep things interesting, in my experience.
I'll probably wait a bit until closing applications, on second thought.
