A possible and probable course to take would that she was assigned as a squire to a Captain or Veteran of the Royal Guard. Thus, while a ward of the Royal Family, she is also made the responsibility of the aforementioned Captain (or previous captain)/Veteran to train, educate and discipline, effectively raising her. This isn't altogether too uncommon of a situation in these sorts of quasi-Medieval-Renaissance settings.

More simply put: She was not officially adopted by the King, but taken under his custody before giving her an official House and Title by having her become a squire to a person of note in a favorable position for her. Essentially, she'd be the adopted person of her guardian/master. This would be similar to (but not exactly the same as) how in some legends, King Arthur is an "adopted" son of Sir Ector, even as King Uther was still alive.

Talking about Swords, I can still change my Jian, right? Right.

Oh, if I might make a suggestion: You might want to replace the Foil with something meant for actual battle, like a Smallsword or a Rapier. The Jian could be replaced with a Broadsword/Basket-hilted Sword as the fighting style would be similar to a Jian, but it'd keep with a Western Renaissance sort of theme.
Derp, sorry. I wrote that with 25 hours of being awake. I'm fine with DarkFey joinin' in as I stated back in Steam.
Unfortunately, as much as I enjoy your rather humorous signature and as fun as it may be to have you.... I'll just quote our GM from the front page:

Hello, thank you for showing interest in Game of Tails -- unfortunately, this RP has had all of the necessary players pre-recruited, and as such we are not allowing new people to join in. Should any of our pre-existing members leave or drop out for any reason, the roleplay may open up a spot for newcomers, but as of right now we are not looking for more people. Thank you for your time, and better luck elsewhere!
Sorry for lack of posting from me. I haven't been able to write anything at all due to various circumstances. I'll try and get a post done tonight or tomorrow.
Yay, I'm relatively proud of myself! I drew a portrait of Anisette! Don't mind the nakedness, lol. I just haven't decided on clothes to give her. As for my post, that'll be coming up tonight or sometime tomorrow~ Expect some spirited and lovely soldiers, and the cool-headed Commander!

.. I don't know what I'm saying.

Haaaaaaah? Or at least possibly haaaaaah? Also ready, steady, freddy.

Is the way I phrased it confusing, or something? I just mean that she doesn't appreciate it if someone just likes getting into brawls or starts fights for no reason at all, or merely for the sake of starting something. It's just one of those honorable/chivalry-like kind of factors to her.
*Ahem* Double post, but I wanted my sheet to be in an independent post of its own.
Character Sheet — Version 1

Name: Anisette Melassa Pasticiotto, prefers being called Anise by friends
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Race: Dog-Human

Appearance: Portrait
Height: 175cm (5'9")
Weight: 62kg (137lbs)
Hair color: A Mixture of Light and Dark Brown
Eye color: Green
Skintone: Rosy
Misc: Temporary armor picture

Personality: In public, Anisette is a fairly serious, independent and dedicated woman in regards to most matters; though she is also possessive of an overall warmhearted and solid disposition that prevents her from seeming uptight or cold. Anisette believes that the ideal commander is one that can capture the hearts of those they lead through examples of valor and steadfastness, striving to fashion herself with the image of a reliable, loyal and level-headed woman with a cool temperament. She is strong-willed, though not to the point of being vainly stubborn, usually being able to accept when she is at fault or willing to go along with another's plans if she realizes they are more beneficial; she does, however, think ill of tactics that she feels are far too "cowardly", accepting that they have a use but typically refusing to act with underhanded and tactless methods. She speaks clearly and resolutely utilizing a decent handle on vocabulary and relative tact, exuding an aura of strength and confidence that is highlighted whether she is directing the order of battle or merely practicing for her eventual role of managing her Duchy.

Owed in part to her position as a princess, heiress to her own Duchy, and most especially as the knight commander of Graelian's forces, and also due to her days in the Graelian Officer's Academy, Anisette has great love for her country and its people, being particularly nationalistic and willing to go leaps and bounds to advance Graelian's welfare, so long as it adheres to her—admittedly flexible—"knightly" code of conduct. While she had previously seen the heiress to the throne, her cousin, with indifference, she gained a good deal of respect for her silver haired relative when she unhesitatingly stepped up to the position following her parents' demise and displayed interest and willingness to help the country grow. Contrastingly, Anisette sees the current state of the military and the militia charged with safeguarding the outer townships to be unsatisfactory, noting the relatively poor structure and coordination as weaknesses in her beloved country that need to be resolved.

In private matters amongst close acquaintances, friends, lovers and everything between, Anisette conducts herself much the same as her public persona, though a slight bit more quiet and half a degree more reserved, she is on the selective side with her choice of company and friends. Status notwithstanding, it would be accurate to metaphorically describe her as like a somewhat sociable, but ultimately serious and hardworking secretary type of individual that focuses on her work with professionalism and without confusing business and leisure. Overall, she is well-mannered, graceful and ladylike, aware of her own charms to know to act tactfully prudent and feels secure regarding her dual status as both a Lady and a Knight. She is not an excitable person, maintaining her calm and serious atmosphere should her plans or the situation go in an unexpected or negative direction. Quite intelligent and having inherited some of the calculating traits of her parents, she is a loyal friend and perhaps a terrifying enemy.

In contrast to a certain Countess, she feels like she could do with losing a few centimeters of height; furthermore, both in-and-out of battle, she knows the importance of some theatrics, but isn't personally interested in anything too flashy. In the affairs of love, Anisette is relatively innocent near the point of naive, having only gained impressions of the subject from peers rather than having gained any experience for herself other than less than satisfactory run-ins with the opposite gender—experiences of which lead to swaying her preferences.

Background: Of royal descent, Anisette is the only child of the duke and duchess of Pasticiotto. Though Graelian may be a relatively peaceful backdrop, the web of political and social intrigue within the royal family and indeed the rest of the nobility were and to this day remain to be stark full of ambitions and the subtle nuances of treachery. The duke and duchess of Pasticiotto were no strangers to these kinds of ambition, themselves vying for the throne and looking for opportunities to assume the mantle of King and Queen in their brother and sister-in-law’s place. By the time that Anisette had been born, her parents’ unsavory and treacherous ambitions hadn’t wavered in the slightest, though fortunately for the stability of the kingdom, Duke Pasticiotto—in line to take the throne after his brother and his brother’s children—was not the most courageous of individuals and while his wife served as his driving force and the more calculating of the pair, she did not have much in the way of bearing in the court, meaning the couple’s ambitions were mostly consigned to wishful dreaming and fantastic plots.

Ill-begotten aspirations aside, Anisette’s parents did love each other and, by extension, cared for their child. While by no means perfect parents, Anisette’s mother did help instill upon the developing child a sense of tactical cleverness along with a penchant for planning and careful calculating; meanwhile her father had provided for her in the form of expensive but altogether quite effective private tutors. Needless to say, the earliest stages of Anisette’s life proved a fruitful basis for the individual that she is today. Without much in the way of positive or negative events during the first six years of Anisette’s life, an irrecoverable disaster occurred two months after her sixth birthday: impacting the entire small family Duchess Pasticiotto passed away in the course of giving birth to what would have been Anisette’s sibling, both mother and child unable to survive the event.

While the duke had been slowly gaining an encroaching influence over Graelian’s nobility with the help and tedious planning of his wife, her demise had an impact on both his will to push forward and his prowess in gaining political victories over his peers. The force that may have eventually pushed him to (preferably peacefully) depose the reigning King gone, the duke’s advances had ceased. Now a single father with a young and saddened daughter, while himself devastated over his loss and still left with a duchy to manage, the duke looked to Anisette and had decided that the best course of action for the both of them was to merely send her away to an independent environment where the girl could be cared for and did not have to be reminded too strongly of her mother.

A six-and-some-months year old’s protests were of little consequence in the face of a father that had completely made up his mind, and the winds of change brought her to a boarding academy of particular prestige. While initially lonely with little contact at the time from her cousin, aunt or uncle, and no actual friends to speak of, it were these following years that helped mould Anisette further, instilling discipline and honing her already sharp mind along with also refining her physique. In her long enrollment at Graelian’s Academy, it was also realized that she had a great magic potential, which when combined with Anisette’s developing into a powerful physique, concise tactical mindset and royal descent put her on the track to be a high ranking officer in the military at the very least upon graduating.

Through from the first days in the Academy, Anisette’s father had sent her correspondence letters of which had increasingly began to bear the hints of the duke’s ambitions for the throne, thoughts that had been making a resurgence in his mind over his years alone in the Pasticiotto Castle. While initially subtle undertones, it began to become clear to the developing commander that her father had less than noble intentions and feelings for the ruling party of what was now her “beloved country”, much more for the duke’s own brother and Anisette’s uncle. First denying herself the idea that the person she looked up to as a loving father had such thoughts, further and more blatant messages had forced the truth upon her. Anisette began to feel dejected—even disgusted—having a father with such seditious thoughts. However alienated she made herself to the duke, however, she was still his daughter, and it was unlikely that anything would ever be attempted, so while she no longer accepted letters from her father, she did not bring his plans to anyone’s attention and merely warned him to keep them as mere thoughts.

The rest of Anisette’s days in the academy were relatively unremarkable. She made good friends with Mystere Chiffon and the rest of her family—their castle being rather near the academy—after several sparring matches and through the already positive and friendly relationship between the royal family and the Chiffon family. On the other side of things, Anisette had chosen to avoid her fellow princess and cousin’s attempts to be friends due to a sentiment of guilt by being the daughter of someone who might have betrayed Solia and her family given the chance, and as Anisette had already developed a sort of selective taste in company. Now on the threshold of graduating from the academy, Anisette petitioned the nobility as well as the king to reinstate the position of Knight Commander in the interests of Graelian resuming its participation in war games. The office of Knight Commander within Graelian’s government had been left empty for some time following the country’s withdrawal from formal participation in wars and was managed by the kings and queens in the interim as completely dissolving the standing army would have been a poor move. Already having gained some note among the influential classes of the country, the first portion of the petition was accepted: and the nobility had come to the logical conclusion that Anisette herself would become the Knight Commander, an offer that both out of loyalty to Graelian and to further distance herself from the ruined image she had of her father, she accepted.

The second part of her petition: Graelian’s renewal of participation in War Games, however, was not something that could be deliberated and decided overnight and it isn’t until Solia’s decision that such became reality...

--- Powers and Abilities ---

Position: Princess (Mind you, not THE Princess) Anisette, Heiress Apparent to the Duchy of Pasticiotto; Knight Commander

Affinity: Magic (No Elemental Affinity) — the full array of elements are usable, but use more energy to manifest than if there were an affinity for a specific element

Magic Potential: Very High
Physical Fitness: Very High

Weapon Specialization:

  • Longsword (Hand and a Half Sword) + Shield
  • Broadsword + Shield
  • Spetum

--- Special Attacks ---

Name: Barrier Arts — Meteoric Mirror
Type: Level 2-3 Close to medium-range earth-water-energy explosion
Desc: Taking up her shield—or in cases where her shield is not present, the bottom of her fist—and bracing it on the ground or kneeling to brace her whole body, Anisette’s crest forms on front of her shield before a coruscating golden and blue half orb covers the area in front of her ranging in size from large enough to cover just her to enough to cover an entire unit of soldiers. The barrier is specifically designed to absorb or even negate other crest arts with special focus on defending troop formations against crest cannons.

Rather than weakening when the area of protection is expanded, it uses more energy. Closer inspection reveals that the barrier is made up of multiple layers similar to the layers of a planet, interspersed with various layers of “water” energy with each of the four earthen layers and three water layers having the approximate defensive power of a fortress wall.

The layers have different properties in that the earthen layers will deflect, shatter or absorb an attack, and the water layers will explode outward upon the earthen layers being broken, holding an effect similar to a phreatic explosion with the intent of blowing away the breaching attack. In addition, any latent energy that has been absorbed by the attack along with the remaining energy of the shield can be directed back at an enemy in a one-directional unfocused explosion, or it can be directed into the ground to make a simple wall of stone or a trench in the ground.

Even for Anisette, the ability itself uses a hefty chunk of energy and can not be used in rapid succession unless she wants to faint mid-battlefield. It’s completely impractical for defending against anything other than crest arts, even if the explosion following the barrier can theoretically wipe out an entire unit of troops. The potency of the ability is cut to 75% if she is not using a shield

Name: Strike Arts — Onslaught Renderer
Type: Level 1 Fire Elemental melee attack/close ranged explosion
Desc: Anisette activates her crest while shifting a short distance backwards, she then charges forward with a choice of staying on the ground or leaping up into the air, ultimately lunging at the enemy in a lightning fast direct attack. The energy generated by her crest surges her weapon with and travels to the very tip, manifesting itself visibly as bright white energy. Upon contact with the enemy, Anisette thrusts her weapon forward and the focused energy is released in an incredibly short ranged stream of fire elemental energy with the intent and power to pierce through most personal defenses, or damage or break weapons and armor. If Anisette misses her intended target for whatever reason and the attack stops in the air, the energy explodes outward like a shotgun, peppering a cone in front of her with droplets of magma-like energy for a short distance of roughly three meters before the energy dissipates into the air.

If Anisette hits the ground, the energy is pushed into it before rocks and dirt burst up and away from her with no particular magical energy, but with enough kinetic force to hurt someone.

Name: Strike Arts — Royal Skysplitter
Type: Level 2-3 Non-Elemental Attack
Desc: Not compatible with her Spetum, Anisette starts with her sword sheathed or at ready, assuming a stance ready to slash at someone. After manifesting her crest, Anisette makes a horizontally-aimed quickdraw-like slash, releasing a blade of energy that can slice near anything not under the protection of Frala in half, dealing significant and harrowing damage to anything in front of her. The blade of energy travels outward, expanding and simultaneously losing power the further it travels until it dissipates several tens of meters away. Royal Skysplitter is Anisette’s second most powerful attack in terms of its ability to do damage and her attack with the most range with the best way to avoid it being to duck or jump over the rather thick blade of energy. The actual passing of the energy is enough to cause small torrents of wind in its wake, potentially throwing people that dodge out of balance or completely blowing them away. If the attack is blocked and the target in question isn’t completely destroyed, the sheer force behind the attack will likely push them back a great distance.

Name: Destruction Arts — Unbridled Reaper of Graelian
Type: Level 3 Explosion
Desc: Anisette’s largest and most powerful attack that leaves little compromise in its destructive power and wake, but also takes up the most energy, making it something of a last ditch attack to end a fight with another commander or a hero. The knight commander prepares to use this ability by first warning any nearby allies to clear out of the immediate area before she takes a deep breath, drawing Frala directly into her body and fueling it into her crest. After a short pause, energy gathers into the palm of her hand and she leaps up from the ground in a fashion similar to the start-up of Onslaught Renderer. The energy at her palm crackles before a bright equipment in the form of a shining blue spear manifests in her grasp. The sheer amount of power focused in the spear displays itself in the air as a coruscating, agitated, churning warping of light and crackling of lightning like energy. After Anisette is high enough into the air, she arches her back in a way that looks like she’s drawing a bow before she hurls the spear at the enemy with all of her strength.

The spear travelling through the air looks similar to a falling meteorite with crackling energy following in its wake, sounding like a deep and ferocious roar that shakes the ground beneath it. Upon contact with the ground, vegetation in a 50 meter radius is wiped away and the very earth splinters and cracks as a pulse of energy travels through the area in a spherical shock-wave, with the spear digging into the ground or the target and releasing a plume of soil several meters into the air from its entry. The area around the impact completely explodes with crackling energy and leftover particles. The attack is so wholly devastating that there is little need for fine aiming: anything within this 40 meter radius would be unable to dodge or block under normal circumstances, being completely wiped away or at least severely damaged. The heat and concussive force generated outside of the event horizon is enough to blow away troops and damage those around it for up to 200 meters.

It is possible for Anisette to throw the spear itself for a ridiculously long distance as Frala energy propels the bright equipment; there is little loss of power over the distance that it is thrown. The only real way to counter this ridiculous attack is to not allow it happen at all. It takes several precious seconds of preparation and concentration to start up and she will have her units and allies retreat out of concern for their general safety. Another method of preventing the attack would be to have her expend enough energy that she can’t use it to begin with.

Name: Reinforcement Arts — Bright Power Burst
Type: Self-Focused Energy Bursts
Desc: Actually Anisette’s primary use for Frala, much of her fighting style and overwhelming strength is built around the utilization of this ability. It first functions much like other methods of utilizing Bright Power to “buff” oneself: Anisette infuses her body with Frala and processes it into Bright Power. The factor that separates this ability from other Bright Power Open type abilities is the action following the initial process of power injection. Working like a magical engine of sorts, the bright power is driven to chosen points on her body or injected into her weapon, affecting upon her an arbitrary and powerful jet-like vector of energy that effectively propels Anisette and her weapons to break-neck like maneuvers in close combat. Through this method of propulsion, Anisette is able to keep up with or overtake opponents that would normally be more agile or quicker than her, moving with extreme precision and striking with extreme destructive force.

She can use this ability while wielding a shield to have power equivalent to using a weapon with both hands, and to make two handed combat more potent by several degrees of ferocity. The ability is incorporated into many of Anisette’s combat techniques and is used for movement, attacking and defending, it can also be used in conjunction with all of her special moves to help position herself and add power behind the strike.
Yaaaaay, IC goodness!

I won't be making the deadline that I had set up for myself for my sheet, mostly due to parental interference. It'll be up just a few hours past, though. In other news, Xaltwind asked if I could post some more information in the Franlanthe knowledge convo, so expect some more "common Graelian knowledge" shortly! For now, I need a nap.

Edit: Please use the IRC Chat when you can! It gets lonely in there ;;.
I'm interested in seeing where this goes, if you'll take me.
