Leith listened to the teenager's story. It gave him an idea of how many mages they were dealing with. The power that they supposedly gave the kid interested Leith. If he could, he would have asked about it, but it sounded like the kid thought they were looters. Leith shook his head and checked his cloak to see if his hand was covered before addressing the child.

"We are not looters. We've been assigned to the task of tracking rouge mages and stopping them. They've attacked villages other than this one. Besides, who would be stupid enough to loot a village that is still smoldering?" He glanced at Grey before he continued. "We'll leave, but could you answer one more question? Where did they go? We could possibly find them ourselves, but the information would help."
Darius

The next few moments were a blur. A child had come from the wagon and helped secure the ropes long enough to get the wagon across. Then everyone hurried to protect her while he sat and regained his breath. When everything was done, Alaira and the child were on the ground next to him, and Ssarak and Meirin were out of sight. He stood up to see over the edge and was relieved to see that they were alive. It would be a shame to lose over half of the guard for the wagon.

Alaira seemed to know the child, and was looking devastated at the fact that she was here. Darius nodded to himself. The child, Lyn, would be a great tool in making Alaira see how her impulsiveness could have killed someone. He glared at her unconscious form before he went to go check on the wagon driver.

"I am sorry for all of this." He pointed at Alaira over his shoulder with his thumb. "It was a stupid, stupid move, but I believe that she will have a change of attitude very shortly."
I'm here.
Darius felt another rush of anger as Alaira ran off into the smoke. and towards the water. That woman is insufferable! He didn't know what the half elf was thinking, but she might just go make a bad situation worse. When they got to the center of the bridge, the men who were fighting each other now held their daggers to the ropes. demanding that they hand over the wagon or fall to the river below. Darius mentally let out a string of curses. Now he was pissed. He glared at the two men from across the bridge and had an idea. Now that he was angry, he could use his ability to- too late. Alaira grabbed the men and succeeded in helping them cut the rope.

Darius's mental curses turned vocal as he ran towards the end of the bridge, ensuring his own safety before anyone else's. Once he had made sure of that, he turned to the rope that Meirin and Ssarak were holding to keep the bridge from falling. He flinched at the shout in his head and hurried towards the rope, grabbing it and anchoring himself to the post as well. He really hoped that Alaira was a good fighter, because she sure as hell didn't think.
Leith

Leith was glad that the carriage was large enough for him to sit far enough away from Althalus to prevent the shrieking he got whenever he got too close. Although it didn't stop the buzzing from being as loud as it could be. The next few days were quite uncomfortable for Leith. He was glad to be free from the carriage and stretch his legs when they arrived at the latest scene that the mages had made.

The carnage was sickening. Sure, he had been through the attack at the college, but this was different. This was a village that had been slaughtered, not just a college with late teenagers to adults. Children were a part of this attack. Leith cupped a hand around his mouth and stared at his feet as he tried to get his stomach under control. He looked up when Grey started speaking. He said something about the carnage being the work of a Noxomancer. Leith nodded and looked around, there were signs of decay around, but also the signs of really hot fire, from the looks of the a Yarosmerian soldier's sword. The fact that some of the bodies had been ripped apart and chewed on gave him a cold feeling in the pit of his stomach.

"It might not-" Leith's voice cracked, causing him to cough. "It might not strictly be a Noxomancer. This could have been the work of a Demonmancer. There is a large variety of demons with different abilities. Decay can be one of them, and so can Pyromancy." He gestured to the body parts scattered around. "And some of them can have a bit of an appetite." Leith shuddered, this place was almost too much for him. He followed everyone to the house that was untouched in silence.

The house made Leith uneasy. Why had it stayed unmarred while the rest of the village was destroyed? When Grey tried to open the door and a kid shouted out from an open window above them, Leith became more uneasy. Something wasn't right. He let Althalus and Grey speak before he spoke in a quiet voice. "There is something wrong with this kid, I agree, but the thing that disturbs me more than that is the fact that this house wasn't touched by anything, while everything around it has been. No decay, no bodies, nothing to show that it was protected. Why is that?"
Darius was no stranger to walking, so he followed the wagon in silence, only speaking to get the names of the people around him. When they had approached the bridge and Ssarak made his suggestion of talking to the duelling men, Darius nodded. It was a valid plan, but he agreed with Meirin and was about to say something when Alaira started to speak. He listened and grew confused as she finished talking and raised her hand.

He held back a shout as the half elf shot a bolt of electricity into the grass to the side of the road. He had not been expecting that, and when he noticed that the grass had caught fire, he could not believe the that she had done that without much thought. Sure, he had thought this to be an ambush as well; he had been on both sides of them, but the rash decision frustrated him to no end. If the fire were to spread as quickly as it had sprung up, it could become a big problem and take half of their fighting space, if not all of it.

Frustration gave way to anger quickly. Why? Why had she done that? It was a stupid, stupid move. What would it gain? Drawing out the ambushers early could be used to win the battle quickly, but the risk was too much for the benefit it could have. Gods, that was a terrible move. I hope that she is a better fighter than thinker. Darius unsheathed his sword and glared at the back of the half elf before he turned to Ssarak.

"I would have told you the same thing Meirin did, but Alaira thought to risk a wildfire to tell you the same thing. Let us wait and see if she is right before we do anything else." Darius turned to watch the fire and see whether or not Alaira was correct.
Darius could not understand why a woman would be a part of this mission that the vampire, Lucilia, had asked of them. It wasn't just any woman. No, it was the one that had stole his kill in the attack. Not that he would say anything about it, though. He could have his opinions, but when it came to a job or a task, they didn't matter. It was something that he had learned from his training. From the moment that the had entered the room until they finish the mission, he was working with this woman.

When they were dismissed from the Lucilia's office, Darius headed straight for the room he was given after he learned that he was a "mage," as they were so called. He had learned in the two short months that he had been there that for him, his anger was what allowed him to use some of his abilities. He was able to figure out how to do something without needing to be angry for it, but it took a bit of concentration to do it.

Darius quickly gathered his sword and dagger and additional clothing before he left for the courtyard. As he got closer to his destination, he heard voices. He heard something about tavern brawls and smiled. It had been a long time since he had had a fun fight. He turned a corner and saw that everyone from Lucilia's office was there plus one more. He looked at the newcomer. Another woman? Heh, I am definitely not in Yarosmere anymore. He stood off to the side and waited for the mission to begin.
Leith and Satori

After Ssarak had left her office Lucilia arranged a meeting with Satori in Underhaven. They dind't stay in the common or even VIP areas; no, Lucilia had a very special place for people like her. Far below Underhaven and the college itself was a fairly well light and sophisticated hall. Here vampires mingled like royalty, feasting freely on blood and flesh. When Lucilia entered they all dropped what they were doing to pay her respect, but she did not awknowledge them. She had business to do.

Eventually Satori arrived to the grand hall and taken into Lucilia's private chambers. Lucilia had prepared drinks and confectionaries, but this was not a social meeting, and both women knew this. Satori was quick to gauge the purpose of Lucilia's reason for calling her here as Lucilia had lower her wards, so their conversation started and began with Satori asking questions about the mission. "I am willing to assist however I can, but you are aware that my personal testimony is not always admissible by the laws of other nations."

"I am aware of that Satori, hence why I only ask for the use of your Investigation Squad. And please-"

Satori raised her hand, already aware of Lucilia was going to say. "I understand my friend. Regardless if Ssarak is one of my most promisng students, I will not allow that bias. I will have the Investigation Squad do a thorough search on both parties. Good luck with your journey Lucilia. Godspeed."
Back on the topside, Satori had gathered the members of her investigation squad together. She only called up members induvidually and assigned them different tasks and missions. when it came to Leith, Satori had specific orders for him.

"Leith, it has come to our attention that certain guest of the college may have overstayed their welcome. The college will never deny a guest to it's grounds, however we feel that certain residents do not have the college's best intention in mind. You are to observe and investigate the given subject as subtly as you can. You will not engage them directly nor are you to inform others of your task. Within this portfolio is the full details of your mission, however after one hour after opening it shall burn into flames in order to keep the knowledge of your mission a secret. Do you wish to partake in this mission, fully aware of the responsbilities and risk involved?"

Leith nodded. "Sure, It'll be first really productive I've done since the attack." He rubbed his right arm as he thought about his month of studying demons as well as his regular classes. He looked at the Daemon Artes that had fused itself to his hand. He was still reeling at what Tyrael had told him a few weeks back; if he kept the gauntlet, he would slowly turn into a demon.

There were two options out of that, though. Sort of. Either he gave up his hand and become entirlely left handed, or become a Fallen. It was a term that, since it was related to demons, left a bad taste in his mouth. He still needed some time to make his decision, and time to do some research on becoming and being a Fallen.

He shook his head to clear his thoughts and looked back at Satori. "So, who is this guest that I have to investigate?"

"That, Leith, would be detailed in your portfolio. Maintain the upmost discretion and do not allow your personal bias cloud the objective of your mission. You are dismissed."

Leith smiled. "Sure thing. I'll get results without bias." He took the portfolio and gave a small wave to Satori as he left the room. He needed to go someplace quiet to study the documents he had tucked under his arm, and he knew exactly where to go.

It was time he went to the library.
Leith raised his eyebrows when Lucilia mentioned the Forest of Symphony. It had been close to where he had lived five years prior to coming to the college. Maybe he could go pay his respects while he was there. When the group was dismissed, Leith nodded and waited for Althalus to leave before he left.

Once in his room, Leith grabbed the sword that he picked during the demon attack. It now had a sccabard to rest in. He also picked up the pair of runes that he had commissioned from Val. He looked around his side of the room to see if he missed anything. I think that's everything. I should get- he paused as he glanced at the trinket sized Saphira Sword. That could come in handy. Without another thought, Leith took Saphira Sword, put it in his pack, and left for the west gate.

He arrived at the west gate to a scene that looked unusually familiar. Grey had dropped several papers onto the ground and was picking them up. Coco was there, helping Grey pick up the papers. A small gust of wind blew a couple of the papers towards Leith, so he bent down and picked them up. He looked at them and saw that they were wanted posters. He smiled as he looked at the illustrations. They were well made, but they didn't help much with identifying who it was since they were illustrations of disguises. He shuffled through them and frowned when he saw one of them.

The drawing was of a mask that he had seen before. He shot a glance at Grey and saw that he was still picking up papers and not looking his way. He pocketed the familiar wanted poster before handing the other posters to Grey. "This has been the second time I've picked dropped papers off the ground today. I wonder if it'll happen again."

*Evil Laugh* Gooood. Gooooooood.

I think Leith is going too, so with Althalus that makes five. Four for sure. It should be noted that I don't actually to have a character I control in a mission I control. But, dammit, he would refuse (and be terrible at) the other two. >_> Why did I explain this to you? No clue.

Yep, Leith will be doing that one.
Leith yawned as he picked up his papers. He hadn't exactly slept that well for the past few days. Between his studies and insomnia he was starting to wear out. It was starting to become another cycle of issues that caused his insomnia. He couldn't sleep, which made the buzzing in his head more prominent, which caused him to be unable to sleep. It was a problem that he didn't want to address until he absolutely needed to. It was how it always happened, even before he had insomnia. As a child, he neglected to tell his parents that he was being ostracized because the other kids thought he was a vampire.

Hell, I don't think they even knew until after the fight a few years after the fact. Leith smiled at the memory before chuckling at how yawning brought his train of thought to memories of his childhood. His thoughts were cut off abruptly, however, when he heard someone speak behind him. He flinched and concealed a shout as stood up and spun around to see who spoke. It was Annabeth He gave her a embarrassed smile. "Ah, hello Annabeth. You startled me. And yes, a hand would be nice," he said as he went back to picking up some of the papers he got. "So, what brings you this way today?"
Erik picked up his pace, cursing to himself as he did so. He had slept in, and on the day he was supposed to be somewhere, too. He had his guitar case and survival gab slung over his shoulder while he carried his unstrung bow in his left hand. When he saw the gathering group, he gave a sigh of relief. It would have been horrible for him to have made the journey to Fool's Redoubt and missed the job because he slept in. He saw that everything thing was packed up and started jogging over towards the dwarf, almost tripping when he saw that giant moving tree and the six armed girl. This was definitely going to be an interesting job.

He gave the dwarf an embarrassed smile when he arrived. "Glad to see that I'm not too late. I'm Erik, the amazing musician." He chuckled. "Not really, but I try."
