Background:
The year is 2099. Overpopulation and pollution has run rampant, staining the once green earth. Mankind looks to the stars for salvation. Space travel becomes commonplace, and is largely controlled by mega-corporations. New Gaia is the largest off planet city, located on the moon it has a population of 1 million. Several smaller space stations orbit the earth, each with their own population. But man made platforms are costly and limited in size and sustainability, which is why everyone is racing to find the closest habitable planet. To reach such a goal, Yamato Enterprises has created the largest space vessel to date, a behemoth of a ship roughly the size of Neo-Tokyo creatively called The Yamato 01. Best described as a moving city, it is capable of carrying a population of more than 500k. The ship is completely self sustaining, able to manufacture its own food and recycle its air. Its run like a small country, with a government, president, economy, police force, etc. The idea was to create a ship that could travel for extremely long periods of time, reaching out to the furthest stars.

Plot:
The Yamato 01's maiden voyage was planned to take 6 months, and quick tour through the solar system to test its mettle. At month 4, the ship left the solar system and broke off all contact with earth. It was presumed lost, a malfunction was assumed to have killed everyone on board. 7 years later it returns, locking itself in Mars's orbit. All communications attempts have failed, all you know for certain is that it's emitting a distress beacon. You have been hired by Yamato Enterprises to retrieve their lost property. Your mission: board the ship, find out what happened, and return it to earth's orbit.

Notes:
So basically big space ship disappears and returns several years later out of nowhere. I don't want to say more than that, because part of the fun is the mystery and discovering what happened. I do have a plot planned out, and will reveal more if it helps garner more interest. But like I said, I'd rather not spoil the mystery. Feel free to ask questions :)

  • you don't have to be a soldier

  • Cyberpunk themes are encouraged, cyborgs welcomed

  • there will be action and fight scenes

A flash of light and a loud crack split the air, silencing the sound of the planes and trucks and shouting. Ella’s gaze smoothly moved down, her hands and shirt stained in dark crimson. There was no pain, no fear, nothing except a blaring beeping getting louder and louder until she awoke with a gasp, grasping her stomach. The alarm clock read 10:13PM as Ella’s hand came down like a hammer, turning it off vigorously. Ella’s apartment was plain and empty, with several large windows along one side pouring sunlight into the room. Unpacked moving boxes hid in the corners and an assortment of clothes scattered over the floor.

Her hair was disheveled and lipstick was smeared all over her mouth. She didn’t remember putting on lipstick, but she didn’t remember anything from last night. A warm shower woke her up and reminded her about the meeting for the movie today. She was already gonna be late, so she didn’t bother rushing. By the time she reached the studio she was 15min late.. She’d feel more guilty but its not like the DP is vital to a script reading. As usual she forgot her access badge, luckily the security guard on duty recognized her.

Discreetly as possible, Ella snuck in trying to get to the table full of food in the back without getting caught.
Yup, pretty much.
Working on a post.
Ughhh, really not in the mood to write, but I figure better to post sooner rather than later.

Name: Ella Lindgren
Gender: F
Age: 29

Position: Director of Photography. In essence she is responsible for the "look" of the film, how it turns out visually. Largely her time is spent managing the camera crew, lighting, equipment, and technical aspects of filming. She also likes to overlook some aspects of editing like color grading and special effects.

(pic just a reference, couldn't find satisfactory pic)
Appearance: She’s a bit of a tomboy, almost never wearing skirts or dresses. Kinda short and a little thin, she has a bit of a inferiority complex. Her hair is short and messy, so she just hides it under a hat. Wearing glasses bothers her so she just keeps a pair in her pocket only pulling it out when she needs to. Posture and elegance are things that she doesn’t have, although not entirely her fault.

Personality: Ella is hardly if ever satisfied with her work. There’s always something she finds off about her images, one reason why she’d never make a book; she’d be way too picky about what to put in it. She’s also way too stubborn and easily tempered. If someone keeps her waiting or is difficult to work with, she’d have no problem walking out on them regardless of who they are. She also tends to lash out at anyone when she’s upset. Although, she has been getting better with her temper especially recently. If you stay on her good side she can be jovial and fun to be around. Ella can be a bit of party animal, for better or for worse. After a few drinks she tends to get frisky and a little too friendly.

History: When she was young Ella her parents would take her to the family cabin every winter. Every year a deer would show up, and come unusually close to the cabin. The first time it came, Ella was afraid of it. A strange creature appearing in the night, who wouldn't be? The next year she saw it again, this time Ella's fear was overshadowed by curiosity. She watched it majestically strut about in the fluffy white snow, showered my moonlight, it was a sight she'd never forget. Another year passed, this time she bought a disposable camera to get a picture of the deer.

Years passed, and her interest in photography grew over time. Shortly after graduating she enrolled in an art school. During her short time there she made a lot of connections and became friends with a lot of students. She also squabbled with many of the teachers. Before she could graduate Ella got into a disagreement with her parents, which eventually led to them basically disowning her. Fortunately she was more or less self sufficient at this point, working as a photographer for a small newspaper. However she did drop out partially due to financial reasons and partially because she felt there was nothing left for her to learn there.

Working her way up the ranks, Ella eventually found herself overseas covering wars. Crawling through the mud alongside soldiers, the experience was terrifying but she couldn’t imagine going back home to her dull life. Eventually she would be forced to after getting injured by a landmine. The incident put a limp in her step, preventing her from returning to the front.

The sudden return home put her in a state of depression for some time. When she was over there amidst the gunfire she felt like she was doing something, making a difference. But back in the states, it was like no one cared. For a short time she made a living as a paparazzi and doing work for adult websites, basically whatever was easy and paid. It took a chance encounter with an old college friend to pull her out of her slump. Her buddy got her a job working on movies which was more fulfilling than what she was doing.

Miscellaneous:
Trying to quit smoking
Walks with a slight limp

I'm still up for this. I had a lot planned out for my character and I'd be disappointed if it all went to waste.
Limited internet? Like, limits how long you use it? That sucks.
*sound of crickets*
