Bio

I'm no stranger to writing and roleplays, having written in quite a few over the years. I try to put a lot of thought into my characters, and even more into the projects that I take on, and I hold myself to a pretty high standard. For me, the story is king, not my characters, and I write with that in mind. Inter-connectivity and relationships between the different characters in a roleplay are what make the writing interesting, and that means that writers need to avoid selfishly making their characters the constant center of attention. As such, I try to write by a very specific maxim: Write for the story, not for your glory. If you've got an RP that you think I might be able to add to, please feel free to shoot me a message. Glad to be here!

Full Name: Robert Carter

Age: 31

Alias: Riot, The Walking Riot

Appearance: A broad-shouldered individual, Riot stands at Six-foot-two, with a strong build and a piercing glare. With dark brown hair, brown eyes, and rather pale skin, Carter seems rather unassuming outside of his gear, apart from numerous scars and evidence of past skirmishes.

Alias Appearance: Navy blue uniform covered in a specially-built blue combat kevlar armor shell, Riot's looks like a walking tank. He's a one-man riot-squad, and uses his shield for offense just as often as for defense.

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Personality/History: More positive than not, Carter grew up on the streets of Highrise, the oldest of four children. While never the biggest or the strongest in his neighborhood, he nevertheless found himself in far too many fights, especially when bullies threatened his friends and family. Sometimes he won, and sometimes he lost, but he never once ran away.

It wasn't until he was in high school that his family was killed in a gang attack, murdered by complete accident by an idiot kid who didn't know how to read, and mixed up the address. Carter initially vowed vengeance, but his sense of justice couldn't bring his rage down on an idiot pre-teen. Instead, he resolved that he would battle to protect those who caused such a situation to be so prevalent in the first place.

This is what turned him towards the police force.

Powers History: While in academy, when he learned of the "Protector" program, Carter volunteered, hoping to be able to better protect the innocent. Though the procedure was remarkably successful, during his years of training Carter eventually realized that the program was looking, not to protect the freedoms of the people, but to enforce the government's will upon them.

Upon realizing he was to become a weapon for the government, and not a shield, Riot eventually looted and then destroyed the facility where he was "created," and fled to Empire City to create havoc for his creators. It was then that Riot was born.

Working History Before the destruction of the "Protector" facility, Riot procured a rather extensive arsenal of gear and tools, which he uses regularly. He has become remarkably skilled at machining and engineering, allowing him to modify his equipment. For living costs, Riot survives by frugal living and shrewd investments of his parents' insurance policies.

He has been operating in Empire City over the past three years, doing his best to avoid too large of a reputation, leaving little evidence but battered criminals and the nickname, Riot.

Super Powers: Improved Human (speed, strength, reflexes, healing, mental), Expert Marksman (Firearms), Expert Martial Artist (Krav Maga, Boxing, Judo, some other forms)

Weakness: Reluctance to Kill - Riot looks to protect, not to destroy, and that often brings him into conflict with other heroes who don't believe that others should be given a second chance.

Confidence - Riot believes that he can take on any challenge, especially if he has a plan in place, but the truth of it is, he's not the strongest, not the smartest, and not the most powerful, but he believes that that will work itself out. Riot refuses to back down from a challenge, especially when he sees a wrong being committed.

Character Flaws: Riot believes that what he does is right, and has difficulty being dissuaded from that goal. He's stubborn and prideful, even though he believes strongly in innocence and freedom. Often, however, he sees things as a little too black and white - You're either with him, or against him.

Weapons: Riot is infamous for his impenetrable Riot Shield, but also carries an assortment of gas, smoke, and flashbang grenades, a collapsable nightstick, and other tools (lockpicks, ropes, grappling hooks, etc).

Riot carries a variety of firearms, but only uses them when necessary. He's also known for utilizing sandbag rounds, rubber bullets, and other non-lethal alternatives before turning to lethal force.

For transportation, Riot prefers the use of a rebuilt Harley Davidson custom motorcycle, with sidebags carrying heavier gear, including his second shotgun and high explosives. The bike is locked through the use of a perimeter scanner link directly built into Riot's helmet - No helmet, and the bike will lock itself down. Riot has a spare scanner link in his boot, but as of yet, has never had to use it.

Riot does have a "Protector" heavy-armored vehicle in his garage, taken during his raid and destruction of the Protector facility, but hasn't taken the time to work on it, as he's found no real use for the vehicle. (He finds his grapnel lines to be much more useful.)

Home City: Highrise, currently operating in Empire City.

Stance on Crime: Protection - Riot just hates bullies. Doesn't matter how big or how powerful. He'll face off against them all. Prefers to cause pain to criminals, instead of inflicting death, because pain is remembered, death is quick and easy.
Just curious, but are you guys still accepting people, or are you all full up?
I guess I'm kind of curious. Where to I post to let a group know I'd like to write with them? I don't think posting OOC in a story would be all the kosher, would it?

EDIT - Nevermind, figured it out.
Hey, thanks. You too! Always good to meet a new person. Everybody's new to me, so that works just fine.
Well, I just wanted to take a second to introduce myself - My name is Korban. That may be my real name, or it may not be. I shall not ever tell! <grin>

I've been writing on and off in collaborative storytelling forums for some time, but with school and whatnot I didn't have a lot of time to give this stuff a shot again until now. (That darned "real life" getting in the way of things.) I was pleasantly surprised to find that there are other people who like writing this kind of stuff as much as I do.

In any case, I wanted to take a chance to stretch my creative muscles again and write with some talented people. I'd be happy to give just about anything a shot, but I'm partial to original universes a little more than "fan-fiction," if only because it's a little more fun to discover things.

If you could use another writer, please feel free to hit me up. I look forward to working with you all!
