Jessie chuckled as her excitable friend took the bait, dropping a tip on the table and racing out of the restaurant. It wasn't that Jessie didn't want to help tutor Zoey, it was just that there were so many other things to do, and this would at least be exciting. Grabbing the money Zoey had dropped on the table, Jessie pocketed it before heading for the door. As soon as she'd cleared the threshold and stepped out into the open air, the technokinetic girl sent out a mental call, 'hearing' her prized invention respond with its own signal. Dropping her backpack onto a nearby bench, Jessie began to retrieve her supplies. Her goggles, designed to withstand high winds and give information on a dozen different spectrums. Her costume, the reddish-brown cloak with its orange hood. A click of her booted heels confirmed the magnets embedded inside were functioning. Grabbing a few padlocks, Jessie dropped the backpack to the side of the bench and locked it there, along with sealing its pouches. She had her own small security system built inside as well, so anyone trying to steal her stuff would have a nasty surprise.

Finally done getting ready, Jessie took off running in the direction of the fire. Her heart pounded in her chest as her boots pounded against the wooden slats of the boardwalk. Ahead was the railing leading to a ten foot drop to the street. As she approached, Jessie BLINKED out of her position and reappeared above the railing. Pushing off with her heels, she propelled herself into the air, gritting her teeth and willing her board to--

Catch her! The homebuilt hoverboard rocketed out from under the boardwalk where it had been following her and snapped to the magnets in her boots. Lightning Bug whooped excitedly and leaned forward, commanding the unique invention to rocket through the city streets until she could see the fire. Grim was here already, because of course she was. Jessie slowed her approach and flew the machine higher, getting a bird's eye view of the scene. It was chaos, with a dozen vigilantes ambling around, ducking in and out of the burning building as it threatened to collapse. Grim would be one of them, if she didn't have a friendly Bug in the sky.

"Lightning Bug to Grim, come in Grim." She said, keying on the communication link she'd built into her goggles and Grim's mask. "I've got eyes in the sky, a nice overview of our little campfire. Got a lot of competition today, you're gonna want to move fast before everyone else saves all the civilians." Jessie looked up at the circling helicopter and squinted as she realized there were some kind of small drones hovering around too. "Not to mention the government boys are here too, I'll be keeping an eye on them. No sense crossing Uncle Sam today, am I right? Let me know if you need anything, I'll be watching out of you."

Keying off the comm link, Lightning Bug reached out towards a nearby drone, sending it a mental signal to come closer. It quickly broke off from its patterned loop and settled on her outstretched hand. "Hey there, little buddy." She said, examining it closely. Let's find out where you come from... Bug began to probe into the complex computer programming of the drone, digging for where it came from and what it was doing. The process was slower than she'd like, there were layers of layers of encryption here that even her naturally aligned brain was having trouble parsing. Finally though, she had a breakthrough.

Dr. Fang

Surveillance Swarm

Bastion Liaison

Sh!t.

Pulling her mind out of the drone, Lightning bug looked around at the chaos below. There, beside Devil. That was likely Dr. Fang, with the laptop, getting live feeds form her drones. Live feeds that Lightning Bug was now caught on, tampering with one of said drones! She turned back to the tiny robot in her hand and grimaced. "Uh... Hi Dr. Fang! Sorry about that, just checking to see where the swarm of robots came from please don't arrest me I'm just trying to help!" She cried before tossing the locust-like robot back into the air and making a beeline for the other side of the burning building.
I'm here and interested!
The long sleep has not caught me yet
Jessie had to crane her neck to look at the fashionably dressed woman who sat at her table, being unwilling to remove her booted feet from the chair she'd commandeered from another table. Jessie had been staring at one of the TV's dotting the place, forcing it to flip through local channels looking for something good. However, it was all breaking news about this fire, something she wasn't interested in dealing with. Now however, she had a distraction in the form of her friend Zoey. At the mention of Professor Devil, Jessie quirked an eyebrow. She leaned back in her chair and tossed her head backwards, looking back into the restaurant with an upside-down gaze.

"Well I'll be damned..." She muttered, irritated with herself that she hadn't recognized the red-skinned man earlier. Of course she was familiar with the Bastion, everyone who lived in Bell Reach was. However, she had known of him longer than that even, he and her father had moved in the same circles before... Well, before the Boom, at least. It was odd to see him slumming it at Little China though, one would think he could at least afford Uber Eats or something.

The hanging silence of Zoey's question brought Jessie out of her mind with a start. "Huh? Waiter?" Jessie looked around the place, then down at the egg roll she had speared on one of the cheap, wooden chopsticks. "Uh... You skipped the line, didn't you?" Jessie asked with a smirk as she realized the source of the rich girls inevitable confusion. "Zoey, you have to go up to that counter and order what you want, then wait off to the side for them to make it. It's called Fast Casual, I think. A step up from McDonalds, but not the places you're used to." The brown-haired girl said with a chuckle.

You go order, I'll get started outlining the paper for you." Jessie said, taking her boots off the stolen chair and leaning over the table. She paused as she reached for the book however, her eyes glancing over to Professor Devil, then to the TV showing live footage of the fire, then to the suddenly-half-empty restaurant, and finally landing on her friend. Jessie leaned in closely and put on a conspiratorial smile before motioning to the fire coverage.

"Unless... You'd be more interested in some... Extracurricular activities?"
Ducking through the throngs of people crowding the beachside, Jessie Beadle set her sights on her newest target: Little China. Only the best quick-serve chinese place this side of the bridge, plus it was located right on the beach! What else could you want out of a place? Finally breaking through a crowd of huddled tourist, Jessie twirled in place and let a few small crackles of electricity dance outwards from her hands to give them a show. She liked showing off her powers, and there was really no harm in it. Just last week she had seen a brawny guy lift up his own car and carry it into a spot after he couldn't parallel-park it himself. Bell Reach was a very 'Power friendly' place, after all! Waving at the delighted tourists, Jessie continued her beeline for Little China.

Ducking in front of a girl with short black hair, Jessie waved an apology with electricity sparking between her fingers. Pushing the door to the restaurant open, the girl was surprised to see the amount of people inside. There was a line halfway to the door, and most of the seats in the place were taken! Glancing around she could see only a couple people she recognized. The lifeguard on the beach for one, and the red-haired man looked somehow familiar... No matter though, she'd have her own company soon. Stepping into line, Jessie pulled her phone out of her pocket and stared at it. The screen lit up in response, and the keypad flashed as Jessie silently told the device her password. Navigating to her messages, Jessie began dictating a text in her mind and transmitting it to her phone.

Hey, I'm at Little China. You're meeting me here right? We both know I work better on a full stomach, don't leave me hanging Zo'!

Jessie set down her container of lo mien and scrambled for her notebook, scribbling down more ideas for future projects as reruns of The Office blared in the background. She had to hand it to Arsenal and the MARAUDER, that project had gotten her back into the groove of things. In addition to a bunch of new custom sims upstairs, she had tentatively reopened her commissioning process for metahuman tech and had been putting together some small 'quality of life' improvements for the local metahuman populace. Anything to endear her to her peers after all!

A small whirring buzz alerted Jessie to the presence of one of her drones entering the room. "Yes, I'm still eating and watching that!" She called over her shoulder. "I will also not hesitate to decommission you if you take away my food!"

"Sorry Miss Beedle, this is actually business..." The familiar robotic voice of Amy called out. "It seems someone with a burner email account has gained access to your private email, and is reaching out to you with a job."

Jessie paused for a moment, weighing the possibilities. It could be a hacker, someone looking for blackmail. Could be a sting. Could be a jealous rival. Or... It could be interesting...

"Computer! Pause playback, bring up new emails!"

After a moment of parsing through the archaic language present in the body of the email itself, as well as running the attached images through every filter and reverse search possible, Jessie was... Interested

Body: First of all, no way am I copying that burner email every time, have a new address on the house. Don't worry, it's completely secure from prying eyes, I made sure to check all the loopholes. And yes, that includes the one you found that let you in on my email in the first place. Good job with that beeteedubs, you managed to impress me. Of course, the job and payment impressed me more, which is why we're now speaking.

I'll let you know up front, I've never attempted cloning tech before, but I have some resources at my disposal which make me confident I can pull it off. And realistically, if I can't do it, nobody can. I'll need some time to build and test everything, though I know you want this done quick. How quick are we talking? As long as I can test just enough to prove the concept, I can bend my ethics enough to move to human trials. Also, you say you're looking for an 'adult aged' clone, but that's a big window of time, do you have ideal age range?

Excited to work with you! --Jessie

@Bluetommy
Alright, finally kicked myself into gear and got this bugger done, let me know if she needs changing!
