Bio

Old and beaten hat, don't take anything I say to heart because it only rarely comes from my own. Been waving around this RP stick for 12+ years, and if there's one thing I've learned it's that keeping things interesting is top dog. I'll take a character who is interesting and challenging for both me and the plot over the same group of misfit archetypes any day of the week. Plots follow the same rules. Unless it breaks the mold somehow, I'm just not that into it. Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu

Here's her pic for now if anybody wants/needs it.

That's all that's really necessary for that first post anyway :p Hopefully the site can get updated shortly.
Hopefully my post is up to par. It's a little hard to get in the zone with three other people watching the World Cup in the same hotel room as you (I don't even like soccer/football xD)

I like the way this is turning out, at any rate. We have some good diversity in our characters and stuff, and a good group of writers.

Anyway, I messaged you my skype info so I'll be able to lurk in chat like a creeper and all that good stuff.

It was a kind of eternal darkness that, drawn out for too long, made you forget about the darkness and the passage of time. It hand indeed lasted for quite a long time, and as people came and went in the chat, the Valkyrie had phased out entirely into her own world. She had long since gained awareness, and even so had only spent the last decade or so in meditative silence, forgoing even conversation with other Keys. She grew to enjoy the darkness, in a very martyrlike sense. It was her place, the place where she belonged, where she could contemplate her own existence. Her successes and failures all existed here within her memory, and her mind was active, even without a body. In a world without enemies, she was her own sword and shield, but also her own fiercest opponent. Like boxing against your own shadow, there was no victory to be had. But there was an always-looming defeat.

But Aegis Nobilis, Alias Code Valkyrie, knew. Her life devoted to training her body was the life she needed to go back to. Her mind was so sharp that any further attempt to sharpen it could only serve to dull the blade instead. She was not blessed with great intelligence, like some of the others, and she thought she was even somewhat bland, and that imposed limits on the blade of her mind. Without balance, she couldn't grow any further. Many of the other Keys boasted about their intelligence, the things they had learned, the endless limits of their own imaginations and thoughts, but for the Valkyrie, her limits had long since been reached. She was a fighter, a tool. It was not her place to philosophize or aspire to great learning. Her wits were all she needed, and as long as she kept them active, it was enough.

In a moment of weakness, she longed to swing a sword again, to feel her sword arm flex against the weight and resisteance of itself and of her enemies. She let herself want to be chosen again...

...No way. There was no way. After all this time, she was chosen...?

It was nothing short of a miracle for a despondant girl who had given up on hope. This was her final shot, her final chance, she knew. Whoever had bought her, no matter what sort of person they were, she would serve them. She would make them proud, but most of all, she would bring them absolute victory. Failure was not an option, defeat was not an option. Compromise was not an option. Driven by the burning memory of her past, and the smoldering fire of her own heart, her will hardened into unbreakable steel.

The darkness faded into itself and she waited in a different darkness. She had run this course before in the past, and knew the drill. She was waiting to be synchronized with her owner's phone. She waited for only a short time. Her owner had spared little time in synchronizing her. It was a good sign, the sign of someone who was excited. Naive, perhaps, but excited. It mirrored Valkyrie's own feelings and brought a small smile to her heart.

The simple script flashed before her eyes once the synchronization was complete, and Valkyrie would be... no, she was in her new home. It was, of course, a far newer device than she was used to, and it took only a moment for her to get accustomed to her surroundings.

The phone seemed to be loaded with several different things, games, music, photos, all the comforts of the modern world in a small package. It was nice, honest, and full of life. The sort of place that Valkyrie could get used to. At the moment she was looking at...

'Kya-' she uttered sharply before regaining control of her own voice. The phone's camera was looking at... herself, or more precisely her key. It seemed like her owner had been taking a picture of her, which meant that the screen she had just looked through presented a fair close-up of the young girl's face. It had surprised Valkyrie, and made her jump. She immediately regretted her loss of composure, but it could not be taken back.

"...Ahem," she cleared her throat. Of course, that wasn't really necessary, but she hoped to get the young woman's attention, and maybe she could stop holding the phone so close to her face. Valkyrie herself was displayed on the phone's screen, rather than the picture that she was trying to take, so it must have been awkward for the both of them.

"Greetings to you, my new Owner." A quick scan through the files on the phone gave her a name. "Your name is Sofia... yes? Shall I call you as such?" The overly formal, strong voice rang out through the speakers of the phone, which Valkyrie considered 'more proper' than speaking directly into her owner's mind, at least on their first meeting.

"You might have noticed that you have an app on your phone, which directly correlates to my current status. You can use different functions within to see my stats or any other information. Later on, you may also use this function to, erm, cast me aside, if you find me unsatisfactory. As a Key, of course I am ready for this eventuality."

"The most important feature I would like to introduce is the feature to select my name. By default I am designated the code Valkyrie, but this is merely the name that other Keys know me by, and it is not truly my 'name,' per se. If you would like to personalize me, I do have that functionality. I would be pleased to respond to whatever you choose."
Not that it matters so much, Phones, since she's your key so you have access in the first place, but my Aegis hasn't been put up yet on the site (her profile, anyway.) Dunno if you forgot or just hadn't gotten around to it yet. My Hoo-man too. No particular rush on that, obv. Just thought I'd point it out in case you forgot in the hype and rush and stuff. I've got a good internet connection and some decent free time off-work in this hotel, so I should be able to post shortly after you (And fairly regularly from here on.)
That's a good point that probably wants clarification >.<

Anyway, just wanted to let everybody know that on Sunday I'll be away for 3-4 days. I'll be on the road travelling across the country. I should be fine and on schedule after that, but I will be working, so I might not be 'as active as before' for what that's worth xD
For the record, on Sunday I'll probably be away for 3-4 days due to being on the road across the country for work. I'll be working after that but I should be able to post with regular frequency. I'm just on Key duty for now anyway so I've a ways to go before I can post in the first place.
Still here, but I'm pretty sure the RP is dead. The Skype chat's nonexistant, and everybody seems to have disappeared. Everybody's enthusiasm bled away over time I guess.
Everyone settled in quickly, which was natural for the group. Even Sarah, as socially strange as she was, melted into the relaxing atmosphere that her host was so careful to set up. With an absent member, the group felt incomplete, but they got along fine with just the five of them. They meandered and conversed and snacked for a while, but the topic of conversation eventually drew to their ever-increasing workload.

Sarah frowned. This was the first time that it had occurred to her that they might be overworked. Work was her life. Perhaps she had just been on autopilot the whole time. But some Correctors had school and families and other obligations, and Sarah wasn't quite sure how they were supposed to handle everything. It was a troubling thought, and her gut response was to just stop thinking about it, but for some reason, she couldn't just dismiss her senior's musings.

In the end, when asked for her opinion, she just shook her head in silence. It was far too early for her to draw any conclusions, and as far as the notoriously quiet girl was concerned, there just wasn't any point in saying anything if you weren't sure about what you were saying. She didn't have to wait very long for the subject to change, either. Her phone went off both quietly from her pocket and a bit louder inside her headphones, a catchy jingle from an anime she watched recently. It was time for work again.

Not a great way to start a party, but with this many of us, it shouldn't take long. She stared hungrily at the pile of sweets in front of them while watching Soshi and the others plug themselves into the DgtWld through their various phones, and as she clipped her visor back onto her headset, shoved a few hard candies into her mouth. She didn't expressly need the visor, but she liked to use it while she was away to hide her eyes while she was using Cnnt.

It was a unique sensation, like literally being pulled from her body. A sensation like a laser crawling up her body in a solid, unbroken line, and the world fell away when it reached her head. Her senses faded and would come back when she was fully transferred to DgtWld. In every way, she would become Serenade, a being of her own creation, yet not too far from herself. Without opening her eyes, she felt the weight of her clothes shift as her sweater and pants were replaced with a dark skirt and long jacket over a white collared shirt. Belts and pouches for utiliy crossed over her body in several directions, and with a little bit of mental focus, she summoned the weight of her cross-pointed pike in her hands. Serenade could summon smaller one-handed spears, but preferred the weight and versatility of the larger weapon. Normally, she would put the weapon away after running an initial test, but today she was in a bit of a hurry to get back to reality. Her combat style was a physical-type, and within the group, she was always on the front line. She lacked a strong offense like some of the other members, and tended to instead focus on protecting the more vulnerable members from harm. In other words, she needed to be ready to react at a moment's notice.

She opened her eyes and looked around at the familiar sight just in time to hear E.G.'s ominous prediction, and Ice's pithy retort. In her head, she smiled and laughed, but the emotion didn't quite make it to her face, and her stony demeanor remained unchanged.

The group shared their responses and ideas while Serenade tapped her spear on the 'ground' nervously. This body was comfortable for her, and she certainly spent a lot of time in the DgtWld, but being here meant that there was danger, and that they had an obligation. She was eager to get going. Futen seemed relaxed and easy enough, as well as Ice, and Eclipse brought up a possible solution. He seemed partially excited. In a group situation, this positive energy was good. But Serenade herself couldn't help but share Eternal Grace's reservations. In the end, of course, she faced forward with a blank stare, ready for work as always, but she couldn't seem to stop the rolling tides going back and forth in her mind. The downside of trying not to think to hard usually was that when there was something worth thinking about, sometimes you couldn't handle it as easy as other people. She was probably just experiencing that now.

"...Time for talk can come after action," Serenade stated, more for herself than anybody else. "...We won't die. So there will be time."
Haha, everybody's their own worst critic, that's just the nature of things xD

And I kinda thought we didn't so much disappear as just get our thoughts and senses transferred in, leaving us basically in a coma IRL.
Haha, was I the only person that specified where they lived? I guess I drove myself into that situation xD
Nice first post btw, I dig the tone it sets, although boy is it vague in spots :p
