Greetings Comrades and Welcome to the Den of the Shimazu War Beast! Though most my pals call me Kush for short, rhymes with douche, but I do my damnedest to not be one. Please feel free to ask me anything, but know you'll get my brutal honest opinion. Well I have been a writer of about eight years on the RP side of a site known as Neoseeker. I have made friends with fellow writers from around the world, seriously I got pen pals from Ireland, to Belgium, Brazil, Japan, Korea, even China. My writing experiences in collaborative text based Role-Playing forums has given me a wide range of imagination … too bad that alone does not pays the bills sadly >_< As far as writing goes I find myself drawn to settings placed in fantasy and modern times with a bit of a tweak such as powers. I am a great brainstormer and I have a system set up were I can help other writers with character interactions, like typewithme but on Google documents essentially. My characters are usually of the soldier or leader mindset, but they always have something about them that makes them interesting, well I try anyways as a white horse is boring ... we do not need too many Jon Snows. I would not mind playing a funny and comic relief character again as it has been a while, and I think I can do the humor right. Now a bit about myself in the non-writing sense: I am a former veteran of the United States Air Force, and a history major in college. My historical interests are predominantly of the military history nature. My interest goes from Classical Greece, to the mighty Roman Republic and Empire, the centuries between the fall of Rome and to the Renaissance, and then jumps to colonial expansion to the so-called New World. Also 20th century military conflicts are a fond topic of mine as well. Honestly I would enjoy any good-hearted discussion about history and cultures, especially outside my own. Seriously, I have heard enough American history throughout my life, there’s a whole world out there! As for reading Any history book that catches my interest. J.J.R. Tolkien's work The Lord of the Rings Silmarillion The Hobbit (first book I ever willingly read) Piers Anthony has his books On a Pale Horse Bearing an Hourglass Weilding a Red Sword And recently I have read some of Raymond Feist's work Magican : Apprentice Magican : Master R. A. Salvatore is decent and I enjoy the adventures of Drizzt and company. Currently Reading the Song of Ice and Fire series, as Game of Thrones is my favorite show on TV right now. In the past recent years I went through all the books relating to Halo/Gars of War/Warcraft/ and other games as well. I am a big gamer on my end, XBOX 360, PS3, and a decent gaming rig. If you want to join me on any of these platforms just send me a Private message and we shall see about getting you into the carnage.

The human could not recall how long he stood watching the crystal, but he did know that for some odd reason it felt right. It felt right that he was standing here, in this place at this time.

It was then that a young female's voice sounded in his mind, "Do not worry Ostel, I am okay." The gentle song-like voice said, it's sweet and innocent tone sending shivers up his spine. As if feeling his own shiver, a soothing warmth washed over his body and suddenly Ostel felt as if his form was lighter than an autmun breeze sailing across a golden colored wheat field.

For a brief moment he resisted the urge and asked aloud, "Who are you?"

A short, high-pitched giggle was his answer before the sweet voice answered, "Silly! You should know my name. It's Hikari."

Before he could process another question in his mind, Ostel's vision blurred, and soon he beheld himself actually flying across the fields. At first he felt afraid and feared that he was going mad. As if sensing his fear, the same warming presence of Hikari seemed to manifest itself through two small but strong hands underneath his arms. His uneasiness soon melted away, and Ostel let himself soared though the autmun colored skies.

A boyish smile soon became etched across his face as Ostel yelled, "I can't believe it! I'm Flying! This is amazing! I always wanted to fly!" For what seemed like the first time in his life, all the woes and burdens he carried with him fell away. He held his hands out and spun himself in the air, shouting a cry of joy as the very winds sped him across the beautiful countryside.

The angelic voice of Hikari spoke again as if jokingly teasing an old friend, "You need to have fun more often Ostel! You get way too worked up." Her tone to Ostel seemed almost too light-hearted for someone of reality, but soon his mind was distracted as the fields of golden wheat gave way to another landscape as they flew towards the setting sun. The open landscape narrowed and dropped off, with the fields giving way to a more rocky landsacpe with a few scattered trees.

They pair soon came to a cliffside overlooking the ocean, with the setting sun's rays permeating over a small cirlce of land. The circle was a small field of green that was coated with thick patches of wild yellow sunflowers. In the center sat a large hollowed out log, with oddly sturdy branches on the side that made it perfect for sitting.

As Ostel was set down a few footsteps away from the log, the spirit around him shifted and formed into the girl he saw in the crystal. She wore a one-piece emerald colored summer dress made of silk with sandals donning her petite feet. Thus before Ostel stood sat Hikari, the previous Sage of Light who patted a spot next to her on the log. Her small form belied her presence though, as Ostel felt as if her power was still here and strongest at this spot.

Knowing that he was safe, Ostel finally let his guard down and accepted her invitation. He sat down beside the small figure and stared out at the sun as it began to descend into the sea. The clouds were painted in a varied of colors, making it seem like more of a picture to Ostel rather than actually a scene playing before his eyes.

The bastard felt at peace here, so much so that he had to ask, "Is this place real?" It seemed as if the sun's rays were blessing the land with an untouched and untainted power

Hikari's spirit giggled back, "Of course it is! It's like, my favorite spot in all the world." She said swinging one of her legs back and forth out of what seemed to be an old habit.

The Grimward then looked around to see if he could see anything that could tell him where he was, but to no avail. For nothing he saw jarred his memory, "Where are we?" he wondered aloud.

Then Hikari scoffed a bit, prehaps getting annoyed with his questions, "Do you not know your own continent? We are on Lucerna! You should know your own homeland when you see it." She said looking him with a bit of pride.

In response to her pride all Ostel did was shrug his broad shoulders and say, "Sorry, I did not get out very much from the Grimward estate. You know, being a bastard and all." Being a former Sage he figured Hikari more than likely knew of his past.

As if to confirm his assumption, the curly blonde haired girl eased her glare and stared back out to the sun in silence for a few seconds as if lost in thought. She finally said in a serious tone that seemed very unbecoming of her, "You are going to have to protect them you know?"

Ostel turned his gaze from the sun and meet her unusual golden eyes, "What do you mean?"

The former Sage of Light extended both her hands outward and answered, "All of this! You know, Lucerna, humanity."

At that Ostel should of smiled and agreed, but truthfully he could not fathom himself doing so. Instead he sighed and folded his arms across his chest, closing his eyes and tilting his head downward. He then said something he never thought he would say aloud, "What if I do not want to. What if I think they do not deserve my protection?"

When he opened his sky blue eyes he found Hikira had somehow quietly gotten off the log, folded her hands behind her dress and leaned down to meet his gaze at eye level, "This is about the elves isn't it?"

With a solemn nod the bastard gave his answer, "Among other reasons, but yes." He expected her to taunt him, and that she would be too young to understand how he felt.

But to her credit, Hikira merely took a deep breath and stood up straight saying in a mild tone that defied her supposed age, "I guess that makes sense. You know the elves were our friends when I was alive. That seems like ages ago though, but yet it seems yesterday too..." She said looking down to the floor and kicking a small loose patch of dirt up with her sandals.

Ostel gave the former Sage a stare, and suddenly he began to wonder just how long she had been watching things develop in Lucerna. From the point of view of her age Ostel could not imagine how it must of saddened her to see the elves and the humans fighting one another, let alone the horrid aftermath.

Breaking his train of thought though, Hikari then turned spun on her heel and said cheerfully, "Well I guess you will just need to free the elves and protect your people! You can do it though!" She exclaimed while giving him a thumbs up.

The new Sage of Light's jaw dropped at the action, until he shoke his head for a second and then gave her a bewildered look, "You have any idea what you are asking of me? That cannot be done, not both." He said shaking his head.

Then Hikari's small figure semed to grow a bit as she stamped her foot down, "NO!" The sky seemed to darken around them and a chill air sent shivers up Ostel's back as she said in a dark tone that seemed alien to the cheerful girl he was just speaking to, "If you do not save your race from themselves, then they will fall into darkness!" For a brief moment, Ostel entertained the possibility of apologizing, and maybe even running from the angered spirit.

But then the wind died down and the light of the setting sun came back to its supposed state, and Hikira seemed to take a deep breath and return to her normal size. She then gave a concerned look and said, " You are their only hope now. They will listen to you, like they listened to me long ago." She said standing seemingly tall and proud.

In a way, the Grimward bastard envied her pride, "What if they do not listen?" he asked plainly with his self-doubt resurfacing.

The answer came as if Hikira was talking to a sibling, or possibly even a mentor to a student, "Bastard or not, you are the Sage of Light now. If they will not listen, then make them listen." She said as if she just passed judgment.

With all that she was asking of him Ostel could not help but feel slightly overwhelmed, "What if I don't care? What if I just go my own way with Snow?"

Hikira only sighed this time and shrugged, "Then the world dies. For with no Light, there is no dawn for anyone on Divus." Again a ominous sea breeze came through the sacred spot on the cliffside.

I response Ostel raised his hands up in defeated before standing himself, "I guess that means I have no choice." He then placed one hand on his hip and looked down to his predecessor with a raised eyebrow, "You know I never asked for this."

The light-hearted giggle returned, "Hey You think I did?" She said with a sarcastic grin.

Hikira's smile was too infectous that Ostel could not help but smile as well, but before he could say anything else the former Sage crossed her hands at her waist, "You had best get back to your friends Ostel. You have to help them."

It was then at that moment Ostel felt himself being gently picked up and being pulled backwards, when he tried to speak, he found that he could not. His vision began to blur again, but in his mind the bastard heard her song-like voice;

Take care of Summer, she will need you before the end, actually they all will. You must be the light that guides them and the world. There can be no Darkness without Light, I'll be watching you. And learn to smile and laugh every now then!

The gray curtain of the world went past him and suddenly Ostel found himself back in the courtyard staring into the bright crystal. Hikira form was still there though, asleep with her arms folded across her childish figure. A profound sadness swept over him as Ostel realized that throughout their entire conversation, he never once considered what it must of been like for her never to have grown older than she had.

Ostel did not know if she would see his gesture, but as he did with Calixta before he gave her the same custom. He brought his sword hand into a fist and slammed it into his shield hand's open embrace before bowing his uppper body forward. He then righted himself up and muttered the age old Grimward saying, "Anon Boo Ta, Hikira. And thank you." With that he felt a slight rustle at his feet.

Snow had been beside him this whole time, and now his white tail was waving happily at his companion's return. Ostel smiled and knelt down, rubbing the white wolf's head playfully, "Hungry?" A sharp bark was his answer, to which the Sage of Light grinned, "Alright boy, we'll eat soon. I promise." After making the promise to his faithful companion, Ostel let out a gruff sigh and held out his hand, feeling both confused, and foolish.

As Summer answered the newly arrived nymph, Ostel took the moment to disengage and went to where Snow was laying laid down.

The Sage of Light took to watching the new arrivals with as a distant observer. While he understood Summer and the Jade Fist, the Sages of Fire and Water he knew very little about. Thus he kept his distance and merely stayed close to Snow, casually petting his white fur and feeding him a bit of dried meat from his travel sack.

Ostel had never seen a nymph before, let alone a lycan. From a distant they seemed fairly friendly and to the untrained eye, even human. Though he was a bit more open to the other races, throughout his life the bastard had maintained a healthy dose of wariness concerning matters he knew little about.

Summer seemed to be making friends rather fast though, and he was glad that she was able to be herself in this environment. Were it not for the pair of them being Sages, the human would have likely given her to one of a number of elven renegades still running around in one of Lucerna's northern forests. And now ...

I guess the world loves making fools of us all I suppose.

By all accounts, Ostel knew he should mingle among the other Sages and get to know them. But whether it was his wariness or something else, he kept his distance and just stayed with Snow, his ever faithful hunting companion.

Lol Summer... a closet murderer? NEVER! She's too innocent >.>

If she does turn into one, then I think Ostel might be screwed O_O;
Hey it could be worse comrades. The group could be made of all males or females, with one person being the opposite sex. Depending on which sex is outnumbering, it could be very hilarious ... or very awkward...
Also, this link should take yall to a collaborative pad have set up for us to brainstorm. Feel free to meet up there to work on posts together or to just be crazy! If someone or a group is working on a post there is a chat bar on the right side for all you nutcases!

This will in no way be monitored by any government agency .... maybe .... possibly...

I need some rest, though I do have tomorrow off, so I shall see yall then I hope :D

Yeah, Kush. Minor disagreements. Nothing that can't be settled over a civilized chat. And some pugilism.

Well in that case I look forward to Ostel's and Jade''s first little exchange.
Honestly if more people want to join and as long as they post regularly, then I see no reason as to why not they should join.

And ... I find the thought of someone controlling the Dark Lord ... fascinating. I mean whoever is playing this role would have to be in constant communication with Kokushi just to make sure everything was on the same page. Hey it can be done, me and kokushi shared Summer's Character way back in the day when this RP was on Neo :D
P.S. Two more days of work, and then baring any schoolwork I would now be free to commit more time to this RP. So awesome times ahead lads and lasses ^_^
I think my character is going to have some initial 'minor' disagreements or/and misunderstandings with the Jade Fist, you think so as well Kybur?

Some of you guys look... familiar. So does this thread. Like something from a time long lost. From before the world ended. Except with more unicorns.

Oh really? I do not recall unicorns back on Neoseeker, nor you actually. Enlighten us as to who you are stranger, and be at ease for you are among the crazies :P

The main hall of the Grimward family was impressive to say the least. Along the walls stood towering statues of many figures of the past, scholars and collectors of wisdom, mighty warriors holding their weapons on high, and even wary hunters stalking an invisible foe with their bow drawn. Books and tomes lined the alcoves of the halls with plenty of chairs for curios minds to delve into. Glass stained windows with vibrant bright colors allowed the sunlight to illuminate the hall.

As one of the more respected human families on Lucerna, their hall showed to the history of the Grimwards since the beginnings of the mankind's domination o the continent. Now as one of the leading clans on the Human Alliance, their role is more of a balanced approach. Their main goal has always been to preserve history, no matter how insignificant.

However in recent years the house's goals have shifted to a focus on martial and military prowess rather than the search for wisdom and temperance. And nowhere is this shift more apparent than on the council of lords in the Grimward hall. Five seats on the council advise the lord of house Grimward, aiding him or her with their combined talents and expertise.

Among those seated was the bald headed and grizzled Gerald Hammerfell, one of the most respected knights in the house and veteran of the last elven revolt. Beside him was clean-shaven Victor Goldsand, a gifted merchant who settled down in the region and not soon afterwards began helping the Grimwards in his knowledge of trade goods. in contrast to the silent Gerald and well mannered Victor, an elderly man at the center in multi-color magic robes shifted in his chair impatiently.

The aged Master Elwrick groaned and seemingly spoke aloud to no one in particular, but many had learned a long time ago not to interrupt his ramblings. He was among the more skilled spell user in the school of Light on Lucerna. Anyone unwise or unknowing who interrupted his ramblings soon was blinded by a sudden blast of light, and then afterwards he would lecture the individual on how rude they were being.

Next up came a middle-aged female who was dressed in a simple traveler’s cloak, who was absentmindedly spun a small dagger on the table. This was Terra Softsong, and she was best known as the eyes and ears of the Grimwards. Her many spies not only resided in Grimward territory, but also on many of the other continents. Few lived long enough to draw her ire.

And then there was the heir to House Grimward, Fredrick Grimward. He was not as stocky as Ostel, and he had a cruel and cold calculating gaze that made many uneasy. As the youngest of the council he was more of an observer to see how the kingdom was to be run, but that did not stop him from voicing his opinion every chance he could get.

The council sat at a horseshoe table at the foot of the steps leading up to a seat of beautifully craved marble, a throne. And here sat Magnus Grimward, the head of the household, with his weathered but sturdy gaze fixed on the council below him. Beyond the council, a few royal knights, and the Lord of House Grimward, the hall was empty.

At least until Ostel, Summer, and Snow entered in from one of the side doors into the main hall. Whatever discussions the council and the lord were discussing ceased as the trio made their way towards the assembled nobles who now stood to meet the newcomers.

Ser Hammerfell spoke first, his gruff but friendly tone greeting his former student, "Ostel! Good to see you lad. I trust you have been keeping up on your swordsmanship?" He said rounding the table to meet the young man.

With a smile the bastard of house Grimward embraced the old master of arms, "I would never hear the end of it if I did not would I? Nice to see you have not kicked the bucket yet Ser Hammer." With that the pair parted and the old knight then took up his seat again.

Master Elwrick merely nodded to Ostel, "I understand you lent your healing skills to some farmers who were attacked by the latest elf raid. It is good to are not just waving your sword around, you'll need more than brawn if what Milady Softsong says is true." He said looking toward his dangerous colleague.

The dagger stopped spinning in front of Lady Terra with but a flick of her wrist, "Ain't my concern now old man, it's up to his father. I would feel sorry for you kid, but life deals out odd hands sometimes." The spymaster said as she kicked her feet up onto the table, much to the disgust of Victor beside her, "Really Terra, boots on the table now?" he said with an ounce of annoyance in his voice.

It was then that Magnus Grimward stood up from his throne, and all discussion halted in the hall. Even Terra Softsong sat upright and faced him as he marched down the stairs with a composure and authority that befitted a Lord of a human household. He then stopped at the head of the table and looked over everyone before he took his own seat at the head of the horseshoe table, and then everyone else did as well.

Ostel gave Summer a nod and sat down in the one chair facing the council, and Summer did what years of practice demanded. She stood beside him silently, making sure her gaze did not meet Fredrick's preying eyes. Though she knew he was staring at her, Summer tried her best to keep her face passive as she slowly looked at everyone else at the table, curious as to who would be sitting there. When her eyes fell on Magnus, she immediately looked to the floor to show she was not trying to challenge him in any manner. She knew that it would be the last thing she would ever do if that were what Magnus thought.

Finally Magnus spoke with a deep voice, one that had to be tempered lest he always be using his outside voice in a command tone, "Thank you for coming to the capital so quickly Ostel, and for bringing the elf girl with you."

With that Ostel merely bowed his head and said with a grin, "Well there was not much hunting to be had in the Everwhite forests this time of year, most the game is quite elusive during the fall."

With a sarcastic nod Fredrick spoke for the first time, his voice very much unlike his father’s as his tone was more sweet and smooth, "Perhaps you should look into a different profession other than hunting bastard. Perhaps if you are losing your edge at hunting I might suggest becoming a tailor, or maybe even a cross dresser. I know a fair that could use a strong male in women's clothes." He said with his friend Victor across the table laughing at the image.

The insults that Fredrick was throwing at Ostel made Summer unexpectedly angry, so angry that she finally had the courage to stare him right in the eyes. Once her eyes met his, a strong gust of wind raced through the room and nearly knocked Fredrick on his ass, something that both surprised Summer, but made her smirk all the same. To her, Ostel was a good enough human and she didn't like that the poor excuse for a man that was his brother deserved all the pain imaginable.

The council also made a collective surprise at the display, and would of acted further but then a booming voice sounded through the hall, "Enough!"

If the gust of wind was a surprise, the deepness of the Magnus Grimward's voice got all the attention from every eye in the room, for he had seemingly grown a foot taller as his figure became more ominous and menacing. His gaze fixed on Fredrick for a moment, and then Ostel, and finally Summer.

But he merely breathed deeply, turned around and picked his chair back up and began again, "I had hoped with age the two of you would of left petty child-like disputes like this behind you. I see now I have failed in that regard as a father, but I do not have time for simple insults. Things are developing quicker than we anticipated and I need you both to pull your heads out of your prideful asses and keep focused on the bigger picture." He then turned to Terra and nodded.

Upon Magnus telling the boys to pull their heads out of their ass, a small snicker escaped Summer that immediately turned into a coughing fit in her haste to cover up the sound. She didn't want anyone to direct their attention to her, but soon enough the coughing got worse due to her sore throat.

The council merely gave a collective glare at the naked elf but the Grimward spymaster then stood, drawing the attention away from Summer. Lady Softsong pulled a small scroll from one of her many pockets, "This came from Tenebra, from the University of Sages." This grabbed the attention of all of the council, and even Ostel who gave a wary look. The only one who did not look surprised was Lord Magnus himself and his spymaster.

Lady Softsong opened up the small note and read the inscription:

"The call has come for the Sages to gather once more,
for the darkness threatens to engulf all in a mighty roar.
Come Fire, Earth, Water, Wind, Darkness, and Light,
once more your vigilance is needed to combat the night.
Twilight approaches Divus on the strongest arms of time,
and only as one can the evil be defeated in it's prime."

After she finished reading the scroll the woman flipped the scroll over and read again;

"The bastard Ostel has been chosen be the Sage of Light,
have him make haste to the University to prepare for the fight."

With that the Grimward spymaster bowed to her lord, handed the scroll to him, and sat back down. With that a silence more heavy than the snowfall of winter descended upon the hall as the implications of the summons sunk in.

Gerald Hammerfell then stood up and walked over to Ostel, standing in front of the bastard. Ostel rose to meet his former mentor, but the grizzled old war veteran towered over the young man. For a moment a tenseness that was alien existed between the pair.

And then Gerald Hammerfell knelt down on one knee to the bastard, "My lord Sage."

The rest of the council followed suit, from the aged master Elwrick to even Ostel's brother Fredrick got up from their seats and knelt before him.

To Ostel, he could not of had a more confused look on his face, so befuddled he was that he could not think of anything to say. He looked to Summer with a worried look, but she also merely followed suit and knelt down before him. Only his father, Magnus Grimward stood standing, eyeing him intently with a cold hard gaze. He had seen that gaze many a time before, such as when he would judge a criminal or someone’s worth.

Then with a mere nod, Ostel's proud father produced a large oddly shaped object that was bound in leather, and came around the table with strong strides to stand in front of his bastard. He then unwrapped the bindings, and the object was revealed to be a silver adorned warhammer. Magnus then spoke with a familiar voice that Ostel remembered when he was just a lad. There was a gentle kindness and strength in his voice that brought back the memories of his father was telling him stories;

"The Sage of Light wields the Dawnbringer, and ever shall Darkness flee before the dawn that the Sage of Light brings with it. Ostel von Grimward, my son, you are now the wielder of our most cherished treasure. Lord Sage, go with not just the blessings of house Grimward, but of all Lucerna."

With that proud Magnus Grimward, the man whom Ostel never saw bow to any man bowed to him. His father’s hands were holding the massive silver warhammer with such effort that Ostel could only instinctfully grasp the weapon to ease his father's burden, only when he grabbed it, the Dawnbringer shined all the more in his hands.

In his hands, Dawnbringer felt as light as a well forged sword, but any doubt to it's power was immediately lost when he examined the weapon closely. Bright runes and images of battles long past were etched across the handle and the head of the magical silver coated weapon. On one side of the head was a flat surface meant for crushing his foes while on the other side the head was sharpened to a curved point like a hawk's beak.

With that Ostel could only shake his head, "I ... I am at a lose for the words." He never expected this, his father had just called him his son, which was also very unsettling, and so many things were just ... different now. The head of the Grimward household stood up, and so did the rest of the council after him.

Master Elwrick spoke first as he rose to his old and shaky knees, "Accept the damned thing you daft boy! Fate does not choose people lightly." The rest of the council rose as Victor Goldsand agreed, "You know the tale my lord Sage, whoever becomes the Sage of Light will save Lucerna from evil. It has always been this way, and frankly it could go to no better able person." He said bowing his head solemnly.

The only one who seemed of sour spirits then spoke, "Have you no honor Goldsong? You would praise a whore to lower her price." Said Fredrick Grimward, who stood alone away from the rest of the council.

Before Magnus could chide his son, the venerable Ser Hammerfell retorted, "You got some nerve talking about honor boy! This coming from a wee lad who beat his hunting hawk because he could not fly in a damned storm!"

With that Magnus only gave his eldest son a glare and said, "Fredrick, you have a long way to go before you become the ruler of the Grimwards, I suggest you listen more than you speak. Your prideful youth is clouding your judgment, and woe is the day we lose one of our finest hunting hawks because you let it get the best of you. You knew you could not beat Ostel at hunting. But you foolishly took the wager and lost. Now the poor animal suffers for it." Fredrick meekly lowered his gaze and backed away from his overpowering father.
Looking forward to your character sheet Ariamella!

P.S. College and Work for one more week .... just one one more week. After this I will have all the time I need to relax and put my efforts here!
