Bio

So, a bit about me then: First and foremost, I love to try and create imaginative and creative scenarios, that (I hope) push the very limits of reason and conventional thought. When I RP (mostly in NRPs) I aim to play powerful and big, things that are on the very edge of OP (I usually give my faction a ridiculous disadvantage though, to keep it fair). In other RPs, I tend towards Science Fiction and Modern Fantasy, playing side characters with some interesting quirks to them. I am also keen on trying some Arena RPing, when I get better at writing. Other things about me are that I work as a Mental Health Nurse (who would've guessed), and enjoy gaming and drawing as well. I also play trumpet on the side. I have a rough schedule, so I disappear for a couple of days sometimes. But never assume I am dropping out, I will tell you if I am thinking of it (unless it's really serious).

Remember, when a Construct dies, the essence is preserved. It would merely share the information it had gathered once it reconnected to this universe again. Hence why the Ethereals are more inclined to perform and participate in suicide missions. And it couldn't take control of the ship, seeing as how there is no actual intelligence to Possess. It could try to Possess the command crew, but wouldn't know how to operate the ship. Seeing as how for most species, a ship or vehicle is a tool seperate from the being, rather than being one and the same.
Each ship is controlled by a Witch, who uses it as a body. The crew are really passengers. And in a frenzy, they would just lash out at anything closer. I guess the correct term would be to TRY and kill it, regardless of if it actually could.
Exactly. The only thing to watch out for, is proximity. A Temple would ram into a ship to kill it, they go COMPLETELY bonkers.

EDIT: Is that Disruption Weapon directional, or a field emitted around the ship?
Facility A-1: Gauntlet

The ships gathered together into a tight sphere, devoting all power to defense and armor, protecting the core Cathedral and Amazons as best as possible. The resultant formation made them much more durable, as the armor faced the outside of the sphere and intercepted much of the incoming fire. The magic based weapons, meanwhile, proved to be the most detrimental, causing three damaged Temples to fly out with no armor of the formation, and the ball grew tighter. These Cruisers accelerated towards the squadrons at various points, and detonated after too much fire, trapping scores of them in the blast. The cloaked enemy bombers, meanwhile, were unscathed.

As the Fleet approached, the front of the formation broke away, and the Cathedral's Collapse Cannon began to charge. Hundreds of Matrons flew from the formation, forming a dense web of fighter craft to intercept and destroy any squadrons who tried to get to the front. This shot, when fired, would hopefully be enough to bring down the shields of the station.

On board the Explorer

As the Witch began trying to access the files, it whirled around at the Hunters, and hissed at them, confused as to how they found it so quickly and floating up. It fired a beam, narrowly missing one of them, and began to try to fall back slightly. It's weapon was not meant to fire quickly, and if they moved fast enough, it could avoid the beam before it fired,
So, an outline of the Ethereal Gathering's technology and capabilities:

Gathering tech is built upon three pillars of fundamental rules:

-Their 'bodies' exist in a realm known as the Void, a collection of dead or incomplete universes and plains of existence that can be found between fully functional planes.
-Isolation Fields are used to isolate matter and energy from external forces, such as Baryonic Particles and the four forces that govern this universe (Electromagnetism, gravity, etc.). These fields have three layers, an external containment layer of dense Boson Inhibiting exotic matter, a Void vacuum, and the internal payload or substance being contained. By containing it so, the contents don't react with the outside universe, until required and the containment field is shut off.
-Quantum/Universe Tunneling has been well researched and achieved, allowing small controlled wormholes between two points in this universe, or between universes, to be achieved. While structured matter (such as a ship) cannot use these tunnels without being torn into sub atomic particles and radiation, energy and exotic matter can be ferried for a variety of uses, from communication to 'firing' this energy as a weapon.

Entropy/Decay weapons- This beam is not actually a true energy weapon: rather, an Isolation Field is created in a cylindrical tube shape, with the payload being Tunneled from the the accretion disk of a pulsar. This collection of materials accelerates particle heat death around it, and also catalyzes the effect from decayed matter to create a cascade of destruction. This effect, however, loses momentum after a short while when the 'beam' is shut off, and results in a clean hole. Extremely effective against armor, this weapon is weak against most forms of energy shielding. Main armament of the Temple class Cruiser, with smaller versions sported by Sisters and Matrons. Most common deployed weapon type.

Void Warhead - Simply put, a guided munition that is a solid sphere containing an Isolation Field, which in turn contains pure Void Space. When this missile collides with an object, the shell fractures, disabling the Field and reacting violently with local space-time, vaporizing whatever it hits. Lacking penetrative power, it is used as an AoE weapon, and deadly to squadrons of fighter craft. All Vessels sport several launch bays of this projectile, with the exception of the Amazon War Walker.

Zero Point Mortars - An intense concentration of gravitons, these munitions crush anything caught within it's field of influence. Resisted by shields and heavy armor, it's an effective anti infantry and anti-structure artillery weapon, which can be fired from orbit for surface bombardment. The main weapon armament of the Amazon, a missile variant is used by Black Fleet Matrons for anti fighter and anti infantry combat. Traditional Matrons project this field as well around them, to act as a second defensive layer for critical ships, destroying or diverting physical projectiles such as missiles or rail gun slugs.

'Collapse' Cannon - Main armament of the Cathedral Dreadnought, this projectile is an intense singularity kept within a powerful Isolation Field. Cathedrals can increase the size, power and longevity of the round by linking together and sharing the burden of energy requirements, resulting in a more powerful blast at the cost of increased charging time and total energy drainage from their reactors, shutting off all other functions for a brief amount of time. Meant as a 'final blow' weapon, a Collapse Cannon can destroy entire small fleets in a single burst, though the projectile is slow and avoidable, tearing and destroying ships along it's path before detonating.

Shielding/Armor - The armor of any vessel is considerably weak, with a dense layering of heavy materials. When projected with an Isolation Field, however, the surface hardens and forms an ablative layering, making them much more resistant to damage. This field has huge energy requirements due to it's size, however, and can only be utilized on dedicated mobile armor plates, which a ship will use to intercept and clock incoming fire.

Military Doctrine - When engaging enemies, vessels will strafe and circle the target, keeping it's armor facing it's enemy as much as possible. Shields are deteriorated with sustained Void Warhead fire, with Entropy Cannons used to deal killing blows by piercing and destroying key areas of the ships (Hangars, Engines, Bridges, etc.). Swarms of boarding Constructs will fly to the ship, meanwhile, and attempt to cut their way through and engage the crew on foot. In larger numbers, several Temples will convert to Conduit Ships, losing all functions but contacting the Home Fleet, to request reinforcements, relay tactical data and bolster other ships offensive and defensive capabilities by transmitting reactor energy to them.

Ethereals are weak to magic, and have little understanding or defensive capabilities against it, merely using it as a catalyst for Core establishing and signal strengthening. Combined with their reliance on it to run Construct Cores, this link is a major weak spot, crafty enemies able to shut it off and completely disable many units at once. Conduit Ships are used to counter this, but if they are lost, most ships still capable of doing so will retreat. They are also vulnerable just after arriving at a destination via FTL, and as such cannot warp straight into conflicts, moving under traditional power and making reinforcements slow, or in atmosphere, where the ship will explode violently.

Enemy shields are difficult to pierce, and usually require much firepower to collapse. As such, Ethereals prefer to strike at enemies quickly where there is little resistance, and get out before reinforcements arrive. Ethereal minds are also delicate, and psionic/disruption attacks usually drive them into a frenzy, killing anything around them (friend and foe alike).
Uncharted Space: Boarders

Constructs screamed and buzzed towards the defense crews, returning fire with particle decay beams, but most were torn to shreds by the wall of fire. One Matron slammed into the side of the ship, exploding violently and spraying a Hunter with thick black goop, while another lunged at an Engineer, spearing through his torso. Clinging to the blade, horrified, he was flung to the side into the vacuum of space, as it was gunned down quickly into it's constituent parts. The assault was fierce, and the Ethereals were about to overwhelm them and begin entering the ship.

A hail of missile fire tore through the Gathering ranks, detonating violently and sending a storm of debris hurtling to the ship, striking and glancing off the thick armor. There were no survivors of the attack, and had been driven back. The damaged Cruiser, no functions active what so ever, was torn asunder, and detonated int large shards of wreckage. The other Temple's minefield moved to intercept, but were overwhelmed by the wall of slugs, and the cruiser took multiple hits, especially on it's exposed Core. A bright blue explosion eviscerated the supporting Matrons around it, and one asteroid shattered into millions of rocks from the force of the detonating Temple's reactor. Nothing remained at all of the second Cruiser.

On board, the surrounding emergency response crews, thinking it was a bomb, flinched when it cracked open slightly, wisps of grey smoke leaking out of it. Slowly, it rose, unaffected by the liquid nitrogen as it turned slowly, locking it's three lens, red eye onto the nearest Engineer. Watching him silently save for a light chattering coming from it, it split open into four pieces and let out an ear splitting metallic howl, deafening him, before a beam shot out from the center and struck him. He stood there, dumbstruck for half a second, before he glowed white and exploded in a flash of radioactive vapor. The Witch proceeded to clear a path through the Engineers, as they panicked and ran in all directions, four workers falling to the onslaught, before it busted a hole in the side of a ventilation shaft and disappeared, seeking out any computer database it could find.

Uncharted world: A bridge to the past

As the Matron Scout team landed on the surface, they observed and scanned the environment, hoping to find their objective. The Overseer Witch Council had delved deep into their archives, searching for what they believed to be a weapon to use against the newly discovered organics encountered. While they posed little threat for the moment, a uniting of their forces could prove troublesome, especially if they were to push on the Void Expanse. It was here, that maybe, they could find it.

As they hovered over the landscape, it was determined that they had been here. This world was once rich in life, and now they had cleared it of everything. Long ago, it had been revered as a God of Undoing, a warrior sent to consume those who had turned away from the Light. It's name had been Crawling Devourer, and it's presence was felt far and wide, an unholy amalgamation of flesh and bone, decaying corpses and drive to feed. A drive to survive.

The Ol'tiu, during their war with the Yss'Tkuld, had sought to destroy it, and were extremely successful in their campaign. It was fate, however, that they were defeated and destroyed before they could cleanse all planets of the Infection. With luck. it had laid dormant for all these years. And with luck, they would strike upon a deal with the Beast.

Facility A-1: The Raid

They warped in a fair distance from the Research Station, a collection of forty vessels, thirty five Temples, four Amazons and a single Cathedral. Their black coloration marked them out as Black Fleet operatives, and their goal was clear: Blitz the Station. Destroy the Armor. And, most importantly, retrieve Dr. Vahlen.
I will get a NS up tomorrow, promise
He's right. Even low orbit is crazy high up, too high to see anything.

I mean what would you do if you were surrounded with weapons pointed at you, had he just walked up and waved it would of been a completely different story. Now im not saying literally do that but something other then surround and point weapons would have yielded different results.

To be perfectly fair, you did land after the Ethereals attempted an invasion. And killed lots of civilians. It's just role playing: He was being reasonably cautious, and your people are very paranoid (no offense, that's what your people are in a way)... So you guys got into a scuffle. As to be expected.

In my eyes, that was good role playing.
