The fairies that were flitting by watched Caterina curiously as she walked towards them. While it looked as if they had so many questions to ask the humans, none really made a move to approach her or converse with her.
Nico shook his head, the effects of the dust between Mika and him finally wearing off. He watched her walk away, wondering what he had done to rile her and why she was so angry at him. He figured he'd probably need to apologize at a later time and maybe ask what it was he did while he was at it. At the same time, he wondered why he was so annoyed with her when his initial thought of her when he came over was how beautiful she was.
He glanced down at the coffee cup that was still in his hand and looking at it, he remembered leaving Caity so abruptly. He inwardly groaned. Way to make yourself look like an ass twice, Jensen. He sighed, vowing to apologize to his purple haired friend too. Maybe even surrender to her his whole pot of coffee as a peace offering. He looked towards his house and his eyes rested on a very familiar person staring up at the fairies. Caterina Versini. Knowing her, she probably wanted to demand that her questions be answered.
"I don't think they have the answers you're looking for, Rina," he called out just as he stopped beside her.
A chill went down Caterina's spine. She waved the small fairy away - it had been too interested in human reproduction in any case - and turned to the actor. She gave him a polite-but-distant smile. "Only my friends are allowed to call me Rina, Nicolas. You made it perfectly clear in the past that we are no longer friends."
After all, even if she knew him, even if it was nice to see a familiar face, there was no sense in letting her guard down. There was part of her that longed to throw herself into his strong arms. Frankly, it was too big of a part. Caterina did not like the way her heart beat faster upon seeing him so close, or how the smell of his cologne brought back memories of his skin against hers. He was just as handsome as ever.
For a moronic ass who broke up with her.
Nico raised an eyebrow. Was he gonna be going through another unpleasant conversation? Not that he expected Caterina to just smile at him and talk like they were the best of friends but... wait. He narrowed his eyes at her. "If memory serves me right, I told you that we're probably better off as friends. And you were the one who screamed at my face at how we can no longer be friends and how you never want to see me again."
"Obviously your memory is off." Caterina said, tossing her hair back. It was the signature Caterina Versini hair flip - the one that had helped her win more modeling gigs than she could count. "And even if it was true, I wasn't about to deal with the tabloids saying you let me down easy. I have a reputation to maintain."
Not that it mattered, because in the end it came out that he had dumped her anyway. She had had to go through three different boy-toys before the tabloids would stop saying she was heartbroken over Nicolas Jensen. Of course, what warm-blooded woman wouldn't be heartbroken over such a handsome man with a voice that could melt glaciers?
And there it was, right there. Caterina always valued her reputation above anything else. She would throw anything and everything away if it threatened her reputation. She also paid close attention to everything ever written about her, including those in the tabloid. That only made her all the more addicted to the preservation of her 'pristine' reputation. He shrugged. "Well, I'll get out of your hair then. Can't have these people see you talking to me, can we?" he gave her a polite smile and excused himself.
Caterina gave him a tight smile, but sauntered after him and draped an arm over his shoulder. Nicolas Jensen was hers. He just didn't know it yet. She'd bring him back, have him begging for her favor again. "Yes, we wouldn't want your new...friend...to get jealous, would we? It's a pity, she must be so insecure speaking to a big movie star like yourself. Or is she fawning all over you? I thought you hated that. It's why we still walk the same circles."
Nico raised an eyebrow when Caterina caught up and draped her arm on his shoulder. "She's actually a cool girl and I'd probably enjoy hanging out with her," he looked towards his house and when he didn't see Caity there, he automatically looked towards her house. He smiled when he spotted her standing by her door and then reached up to remove Caterina's arm off his shoulder. "The last time I checked, people who aren't friends aren't this touchy with each other, Caterina," he shot back, gave her another polite smile before he headed towards the librarian.
"When you find out she's only using you for your money or status, don't say I didn't warn you Nicolas." Caterina called after him. "People like us are better off with others of our status."
Nico ignored what the supermodel said. "Hey, Caity. Let's get that coffee," he called out as held up the cup he was still holding. "Mine's gotten cold."
