James blinked, surprised. Of course, in an Academy this large, he expected there to be other kids of Hermes. He just wasn't expecting to meet one so soon. With a bit of sleight of hand, he produced a chrysanthemum and offered it to Raven. Not his usual choice, but he wasn't about to flirt with his half-sister. "I'm James Oake, son of Hermes. Nice to meet you, sis."
He wondered how she would react to having a magician for a half-brother, and hoped she didn't mind. Little as he liked Hermes, it would be nice to have someone to call family again. That was one of the reasons he had come to Olympus Academy. James waited, his nervousness concealed perfectly by his poker face. Would she accept the flower, and thus, symbolically accept his friendship? Or would she reject both?
He took the time to look Raven over more thoroughly. She was very pretty, and James wondered if he would play the overprotective big brother at some point. Assuming that he was the elder of the two, of course. Never assume, James. Remember, assuming makes an ass out of you and me. He reminded himself. He would have to find out, later.
