Biography: Callus was born on one of the many space habitats that orbited the dwarf planet of Ceres. Considering he was born just about in space, Callus was born a 'spacer' and such, he went on to spend much of his early life preconditioning his body for a lifetime of becoming a Miner on Ceres. His family line could be traced back all the way to twenty-second century Europe; however, they had no such luck in the age of space. In that his family were now in Corporate Servitude. As a result, Callus was taught only the most necessary of skills to survive and adapt to life.
At the age of eighteen he began working on the mines that fuelled the grand industries on Earth and Mars and would continue to do so until he was twenty-one. When one day, his career came to a rather abrupt end, while he was working down in the mines, there was a sudden explosion that ripped through the upper levels of the mines. The result was the destruction of resources and ore worth trillions in Credits. At first it was assumed to of been an industrial accident, only for a few days later a newly founded Secessionist movement took claim for the attack. This was technically good news for Callus, Hyperion, who more or less outright owned the planet, wasn't obliged to save anyone's life in the event of an industrial accident, but a terrorist attack? For some reason, they actually cared for you then. Considering that Callus had spent the last few days trapped under the surface with his fellow miners, because of said attack, Hyperion swung into action and did everything within its power to free the trapped miners.
A week later, and Callus was back among the living, but Hyperion didn't give him, or anyone else enough time to take a breath before they were whisked off to the Corporation's Headquarters, and told they were to reevaluate their Life-Contracts. Since the attack was an unforeseeable event, it opened up a rather unique clause in the contract, in that as long as the contracted person does not attempt to gain any compensation or recognition for the attack, and that they immediately vacate the working and living space own by Hyperion, they were basically free of Hyperion's bondage.
Naturally, Callus being the fool he was, he didn't take the offer and returned to the mines the following week. While it can be easily said to of been luck, whether it was bad or good, was up for debate, because three months later the mines were attacked again, this time Callus wasn't underground. Instead he was just clocking off from work, when a small explosion ripped apart the building he was in, and sent him crashing into a wall, where he fell into a coma. Since he was obviously unable to respond to any questions, what with him being in a Coma, and when the Suits came knocking with the same offer again, his parents choose what was best for him, and released him from his contract.
Of course this meant Hyperion was under no obligation to continue Callus’ medical support. So they turned off his life support, his parents in a last ditch attempt to save their son, pooled what little credits they had to have him sent to Mars, where being a Citizen of the EMA allowed one access to free medical care. And so, Callus found himself upon an alien planet a few short months later when he awoke, which shocked him at first, until he realised Mars was a free planet, not a Corporatocracy. He was very much free to do whatever he wanted, well, as long as you had the credits to get what you wanted.
There was one thing he noticed, being in the Army was alot like being owned by Hyperion, only with twenty dozen more freedoms. And it was amazing, he had routine in life again, and this time he had a gun and got to kill stuff, what was not to like? Well, a lot of things, but that's not important. Callus spent the first five years of his service stationed on Mars, where he for the most part served in a peacekeeper role, or in other cases just a simple garrison force. He didn't see much in the way of combat while on Mars, and wasn't until Jupiter Freedom Alliance appeared that things got real. Suddenly it wasn't just putting down a bad riot, or being boots on the ground. The JFA was a peer opponent to the Conglomerate, and in this world that meant only one thing would come of it. War.
Then things events made a complete turn for the worse, when the Alliance succeeded in making the Asteroid Republics in succeeding from the EMA. This was a massive hit to the EMA, suddenly a massive chunk of it's population was gone and most of it's industry to boot. Granted, Earth, Mars, Luna were in themselves Fortresses, they were massive Fortresses that were supplied by everyone. And so when the war came to Mars, it put up one hell of a fight. And Lance Corporal Callus Gorvin was there to fight. His service record shows that he served in most of the campaigns on Mars, from Arcadia to Sabaeus.
At some point his exploits were noticed by the Special operations group, Black Watch, and he was 'asked' to join the unit. After a six month training period on Earth, he returned to Mars with the rank of Trooper and a member of Black Watch, where for the most part his actions included operating behind the lines, and sabotaging enemy installations in any way possible and on Mars, there was many a way. During this time he also received his first set of augmentations, which came in the form of Sub-Dermal armor, which allowed him more protection from enemy fire. But at the end of the day, getting shot was still very much not advised.
Around his seventh year fighting on Mars, he was noticed by the incredibly secret 'Operation Shadow Sabre', thought for whatever reason he didn't get picked, at first that was. He wasn't put back on their radar, until Callus was captured by JSF forces in the heartland of occupied Mars. And yet, him being captured didn't stop him from finishing his mission. He quickly freed himself and put a hole in General Isaiah Baxter's forehead, and that was a mission well done in his book. Admittedly, his team was dead, but he had avenged them. When he returned to the safety of the Inter-Planetary bases, he was quickly pulled from the front lines and again found himself on Earth. Only this time ... Shadow Sabre wanted him.
