I miss writing. Alot. Journaling is all well and good, but there's something about creative writing. I get excited about it! So, here's to a year of doing what excites me. It's time for a change.

@Shorticus Something else occurred to me. Can NPCs perform actions on behalf of Council members? For example, let's say Maire wants to mount another expedition to the Barrows to take a closer look at the runestones. Considering what happened last time, she's loathe to go in-person. Could she send Tristan Jory, a gallocman loyal to her, with some companions to make simple drawings of the stones that she can study? Obviously, this would count as her action for the turn. I know there's potential to abuse having NPC followers, but as long as we don't go crazy with it is this possible?
@Shorticus Question: would it be alright if I had Maire prepare bottles of silverleaf tree sap for the battle? People could slather it on their weapons to give them an edge during the raid. Would that cost an action, because I'm fine if it does?
Well damn. Alright...the orc might be able to help us with the whole raid situation. I need to edit and post for a collab I'm involved with then I'll get a post going for this. Maire will definitely keep working on that salve.
@Lauder Obviously. If we're feuding with a clan then chances are they won't be swayed by pretty words and gifts. But what's happening with Clan Stormcaller right now shouldn't be our clan's modus operandi. At least in Maire's eyes. We've just persuaded the Gearalti to become our trading partners, and we might be able to form close ties with Clan Andal. We don't want to lose what few allies we have over this whole incident. Fighting will be necessary at times, of course. But when it's not we should try to bind the fates of other clans to Clan Aonghus in other ways.
@Lauder What's that old saying? It's easier to catch flies with honey than vinegar? Maire's main problem with Eliz is just that. If you CAN ally with a clan then you should. Allies tend to do more for each other than terrified vassals. Obviously, if another clan were to attack ours then we would need to punish them. And I'm sure some clans would only respond to violence. However, if another clan is open to being loyal allies with Clan Aonghus then why destroy them at all?
@Babbysama Oh no, I get all that. I was just asking if it was possible. The clan needs to survive, grow in strength, and either unite or conquer the other clans living in the Hidden Valley first. I was simply curious to see what Shorticus had in mind in terms of the endgame, that's all. And to see if Maire's personal goal might actually be completed over the course of the RP.
@Mardox I'm all for it, good sir. If you want, after Maire and Serhiem talk, you can send Ardghal to Maire to propose some sort of alliance. Who knows? She might even accept =P
@Shorticus WAIT!!! I have a super important question...actually, it's not that important. Out of curiosity, is it possible, over the course of this RP, for Clan Aonghus to return to Urland and kick the high king's bony arse? I was just curious. I mean, I figure, like the game this RP is based on, we'd need to either unite or dominate the Hidden Valley first. But is this part of your overall plan for the story? To have our characters return as vengeful conquerors bent on avenging themselves on the high king? I'm just wondering if Maire's personal goal, to return home, might actually be doable.
Also, I added a small thing to my last post. Maire took 10 goods on her sweetgrass expedition just in case she ran across someone that wanted to trade. Considering she had enough time during the monster attack to get two seasons' worth of sweetgrass, I'm also thinking she had enough time to save those 10 goods, which are now back in the clan's stores. Minor detail, but there you go. And back to work I go...ugh...
@Shorticus Take your time, good sir. Have fun with your tabletop prep.
