"Well we got Georgie and Lyric out there causin' quite a ruckus. Nice distraction goin'. Then we got your friend-" He paused, looking up in the air. I suppose he was trying to remember something. "I forget her name. But she's gettin' us a Jeep. Once we get out those doors, we're back in the tropics until the morning." Slacks grinned.
After slowly making our way down the hall, we came to our turn. I peeked around the corner and saw two men standing there, waiting for something to happen. "We've got a minor problem." I carefully helped Sam lean himself against the wall. "Just give me a second." I pulled a gun from my hip and stood down the hall. Pointing it at the men, I got ready to shoot.
One of them spun around, squinting at me then raising his hand. "Daisy stop! It's me, Luke!"
"And Slacks!" Slacks added. "You got your friend?"
"I got him. Come help!" I called down to him and he nodded, running down the hall to meet us. "Geez, man. What happened to you?" He gave Sam his arm.
"Of course I am. Let's go slow-poke." I smiled, offering him my arm in case he needed help. "Ok, so we need to go down that hall and to the left. Once we're there, we've got a straight shot from what I can remember." I was dragged down this hall so I was pretty sure I knew where to go. "Then we're back in paradise!" It wasn't exactly paradise since we were in Jaxlor territory. But anywhere was better than here.
"I came in alone. Georgie and Lyric were outside waiting. Maybe they figured out a way to help us out?" I whispered. I heard another explosion, this time much bigger. The entire building shook.
"Those are Tilerians out there!" A woman yelled.
"How many?" Someone called out to her.
"About five or six!" The woman yelled again. I heard her swear under her breath and run down the hall. Everyone was headed outside to fight them off.
"As crazy as this sounds-" I started. "We need to go outside. They won't notice us with whoever else is out there. The fence is also down. We should go." I looked to Sam.
"Dude, I'm not going to leave you and I didn't kill those girls for nothing." I said. "Now we have to go. Just trust me." I gently lifted his head so I could look at his face. "Ok? We're gonna get out of here." I assured him. I wasn't sure if we'd both make it out. Or if we'd even be alive ten minutes from now. But Sam didn't need to know that. Slowly, I began to walk with him out of the cell and down the hall. If anyone was to come, I'd just shoot them. I had two fully loaded guns on me that I took from the girls. "Did you hear that?" I stopped, glancing at Sam then back ahead. It was the faint sound of an explosion.
"Get to the fence! Go! Hurry!" I heard multiple voices coming from all sorts of places. We needed to hide.
"We need to find a place to hide for a bit." I looked around, trying to figure out a spot where we could lay low.
"I came to get you out. Now keep quiet before someone hears you." I took my knife out and began to try and pick the lock. After working with it for a few minutes I finally got the lock open. "See? Everything's gonna be alight." I walked in, carefully helping Sam to his feet. I knew he was in pain but we had to get out of here. I hadn't come up with that plan yet, but I'd figure it out soon. Hopefully Lyric and Georgie were on their way in.
"What happened to the Tilerian girl we brought in?" I heard a voice down the hall. "She's gone. She's the one who killed the girls I sent in." It sounded like Donny.
"Well FIND HER." That was Pops.
"Alright, I'm on it, dad. I- I mean, Pops." Donny's footsteps went in the opposite direction.
I watched as the men threw SWam into a new cell and walked away. I waited a few minutes before coming out of my hiding spot and walking down the hall. Coming up to Sam's cell, I peeked in. "Sam?" I said quietly. "You alright?" I asked. I couldn't even tell if he was alive anymore. "Sam?" I whispered, this time grabbing the bars of the cell door and trying to get a better look at him.
I overheard someone talking. They'd found the bodies. They also had a prisoner. Could it be Sam? Peeking out from where I stood, I saw Sam all beaten up and bruised being carried in by some big men. I had the urge to say something, to let him know I was here to help, but I'd just give myself way. Quietly, I disappeared back into the shadows.
I was hoping Lyric and Georgie were coming up with a plan to come and help us. If not, it'd be pretty hard to get out of here on my own. "What the hell happened in here?" I heard a man bark. "What the- Quick! Call the medics! Get someone in here immediately!" I began to hear shuffling and footsteps coming from all around. I assumed the found the three girls I left in the cell to die. When the place was clear, I could try to get my hands on a Jaxlor uniform, put it on and search for Sam.
I looked down at my hands, shaking and covered in blood. I couldn't believe what I'd just done. But I had to. They were either going to beat me to death or just kill me. I couldn't chance that. I could hear groaning coming from behind me. I thought I'd killed them. Turning around, I looked at their faces. "You b-" Blood sputtered from the redheads mouth. They were all still alive. But just barely. I shook my head, walking out of the door and closing it behind me. Now I had to hide and some how find Sam. I quickly left the scene and found a dark, damp hall to hide in.
