"Who knows." I shrugged. "They fed us good today. Hopefully this doesn't mean we're getting another surprise announcement." I looked around the room at all of the soldiers getting food, taking seats, talking. No sight of any generals though. "We might just be sitting ducks until it's time to go kick some ass. I sure hope we aren't. That'll just leave us anxious." I sighed. "You think we could find a way out of here?" I whispered, just low enough for Sam to hear.
I rose a brow and smirked. "Yeah, my breakfast taco is going to change their minds and the world." I said sarcastically. "Maybe this thing is gonna make me famous." I laughed and leaned an elbow on the table, resting my face in my hand. "That would be nice though... Getting this good treatment everyday. I'd never get tired of it, that's for sure." I shrugged. "Hey, maybe if we make it out of that big battle, we'll get sent home for doing good work and then we could eat all the breakfast taco's we wanted."
"My sister showed me this when we were kids. So I tried it and I've been eating them this way ever since." I smirked and took another bite of my breakfast taco. Once I was finished chewing and swallowing it, I spoke again. "You should try it. It's really good... Amazing actually." I laughed. "You've seriously never seen anyone eat bacon and eggs this way?" I took the last bite of my food and pushed my plate away from me.
As Sam finished his plate, I was just starting to work on my second breakfast-toast-taco. "Geez, you really were hungry." I laughed before taking a bite of my food. "I think waiting a few minutes is a good idea, you hungry hippo." I laughed again. I glanced around the room, catching a few smiles on peoples faces as they neared the food line. Once they saw they bacon you could see a small smile grow to to the biggest grin you'd ever seen. It was nice to see people semi-happy again.
I smiled. "Eat it all and go get seconds. If they're offerin', I'd take it." I said with a small laugh as I piled half of my eggs and bacon onto a piece of my toast. I folded it like a taco and took a big bite. "Mmmm. This is so good." I said between bites. "Just like home." I was barely done chewing everything before I took another bite. I hadn't realized how much I had missed a simple breakfast. It was almost as good as when I'd cook at home, if not better.
"Yeah, definitely." I smiled. After I got my bacon, I stood around and scanned the cafe. Pretty much all of the tables were empty so we could sit anywhere we liked. "How about we sit over there? Tables empty and it's closer to the door. That way if things get crazy this morning we can get out of here quick." I said as I picked a piece of bacon from my plate and took a bite. I couldn't believe something that simple as a piece of bacon could taste so good.
"Oh this is going to be soooo good." I smiled, grabbing a plate and tray. "Smells just like home. Violet and I would always make this for breakfast... Pancakes or waffles takes too long." I said with a small smile. I held my tray out to the woman serving us food. She had gray, curly hair that you could see sticking out of her thin hairnet.

"Here you go, honey." She said as she piled a scoop full of eggs on my plate. "Want some toast too?" She asked me. I nodded politely and she placed tow pieces of freshly made toast on my plate. I thanked her before moving on towards the bacon.
"Yeah, I'm never up this early either. Anything before 11 is too early for me. But I couldn't sleep." I said as we approached the door. I opened it, letting Sam lead the way and I followed. A waft of something delicious hit me in the face as we walked through the door. It didn't smell like anything special, but it did smell good. "I wonder what they cooked." I asked curiously. "Smells kind of good."
"Oh my gosh, really?" I smiled brightly. "That's amazing! I'm glad you're okay." I gave him a small nudge. "You can make a full recovery and we can get back out there." I smiled, almost forgetting that we wouldn't be back 'out there' in about a week. I ignored my mistake and continued to walk. I could see the cafeteria in the distance and a few people were already walking in. "Looks like we're not the only ones up early this morning." I nodded towards the people emerging from their dorms and others into the food hall.
"Man, I have no clue." I looked up at him then towards the small path we were walking. "If there isn't any good food, I probably wont eat, honestly. If they're going to send us off to the slaughter house, they better fatten us up before they do it. It's the least they can do." I sighed. "Do you think we'll get another surprise?" I raised a brow, looking up at him as I waited on him to answer.
