And thus, Carmen logs in to yet another new game. She could be playing that new stealth game that just came out, or she could be playing that fighting game again that she plays competitively. But this game--this game--Carmen couldn't be more hyped for it, let alone hooked. In fact, it's actually been a long time since she's been so hyped for a game. Well, a different word other than 'hyped' could probably be used considering Carmen hasn't really shown that much of hyper-activeness. Hyped might have been one way to put it, but...addicted is most likely more of the right word. Come on, even though it claims to be it seems like a goddamn fantasy. But is that just all it is? A fantasy, or something more?

Carmen--er, ahem--Ricki finally spawns into the world of Identity. Her almost glaring orange eyes peered around her surroundings, the plaza that is. Wait, woah, what? What up with the glare? Tone it down a bit. Ricki eased the look on her face, making her look a little more approachable. Well, honestly, she was approachable even with whatever look Ricki had on her face. Ricki looked down at her hands, which were apparel-covered, and squeezed them into fists before loosening them while feeling the physical tension as she does so. She slowly paced around in a half circle, looking around at the plaza some more and at the variety of players. When she comes to a stop she takes a slow deep breath, taking in the new sense realistic atmosphere. It's as if the real world was a dream. After her long inhale, she didn't exhale. She couldn't help but let out a grinning smirk. The kind of smirk that lets people know they're excited, but also the kind of smirk that people might be scared of depending on how they take it.

Ricki took a brief look at her inventory. Survival knife. Nice. Revolver. Nice. Dual swords. Double nice--literally. Ricki took a couple seconds to memorize her skills, stats, and anything else necessary. When she got enough space in the plaza for herself, Ricki tested out some other movements other than walking or anything simple. She lets out a strong punch in the air, then after a short pause she lets out a couple kicks with a badass kind of flip to it. Now Ricki would try out the swords, she's dying to at least, but she wants to save that for the actual action. Question being, where might that action be? Surely there must be something like quests to complete or just some baddies to slay in general. ...But first, a little more slow adventuring around the plaza. No ADHD here. Move along now.

The Matsuoka Clan -- A Dead History

Long, long ago in the ancient times there was a clan named the Matsuoka. They were also known as "The Dead Clan" or "The Clan of Ghosts" due to their history and abilities. However, there was a time when the Matsuoka clan was just simple--before the ghosts came along. There were two siblings; Nariko Matsuoka, the older sister, and Hirotsugu Matsuoka, the younger brother. As children they were granted the gift of necromancy--or in other words the ability to speak with the ghosts and spirits of the dead--and astral projection. Shunned by their family, the siblings were banished from their own home being thought that they were demons of threat. It was not just their abilities they feared, but the fact that their eyes always had a transparent white glow to them. As they grew they also developed techniques that can manipulate astral energy. When presented to other shinobi, it was thought just to be the same as chakra and not astral energy of its own. It is similar to chakra, yes, but at the same time it is so different. Nariko and Hirotsugu were able to prove this; not only were they shinobi themselves, but they were philosophers. Astral energy is its own life force separate from chakra, even though you can use chakra to help use astral energy in some ways. Not only is astral energy a paranormal force and is mostly everywhere, but it focuses from the soul and mental body. Chakra, on the other hand, comes from the physical and spiritual. Paranormal, spiritual--in these terms they are different.

Many, many years--centuries--later, a new Matsuoka clan was made and grew as a whole. As Nariko and Hirotsugu, with their spouses marrying into their clan, they passed down their what is now known as the clan's kekkei genkai, the Ghost Release. Eventually this resulted to the development of a while clan. Jutsus were created and traditions came alive. Especially one tradition where if a person has recently died, you cannot interact with their ghost unless they interact with you or until at least ten years pass. It was their way to respect the dead. At first, with Nariko and Hirotsugu, they would see ghosts against their will. Over time they came up with a way to fix that. Not only was a jutsu created, but it became a tradition when a child has their first "astral visual"--when they see ghosts for the first time--it was time to obtain their psyche markings. Psyche markings are purple markings that come in a variety of designs; it is put on the members of the Matsuoka clan's faces and represents their soul as an individual. After that had been obtained, the work of a simple jutsu could be used to switch between astral vision and normal vision. This would also switch from a transparent white glow in their eyes to no glow, or in other words just the color of their eyes.

Lovely to Haunting

In one of the forests of Konohagakure walks a young woman, Kumiko Nagahama, who is a chunin. She spots a young man who appears to be relaxing against a tree; his eyes were closed and he was leaned back against the tree with his hands behind his head. Out of curiosity, Kumiko tries to engage casual conversation with him, "Heya, what brings you out here?" Kumiko was trying to talk to him from a distance that maybe he could hear her from, but there was no response. Kumiko raised a brow, "Hey, did you hear me?" Kumiko spoke up louder as she walked up closer. Maybe he didn't hear her? Kumiko approaches to what seems like a sleeping but very still man. Kumiko crouches down to him, "Uhhh..." Kumiko poked his forehead before pressing her finger against it. Soon she moved his head around with that just one finger from where it is. With no success of waking him up, Kumiko makes an annoyed grunt that starts out soft and then crescendos as he shakes the man's head harder to the point where it's spastic. "WAKE. UP." Kumiko slapped the man in the face--one slap per word. To Kumiko's surprise, not even that woke him up. She blinked and rose an eyebrow in concern before slowly leaning down and bringing an ear to the man's face to check his breathing. There was none. Kumiko slowly took a deep breath, "OooooOOOOHHHH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD!" Kumiko jumped from where she was and started pacing around in front of him like crazy, hands to her head messing up her auburn hair and everything. At this rate she was talking super fast, "What do I do what do I do what do I do what do I DO! When did this happen?! How did this happen?! Who did this to you?! We have to find them! This I swear sir we will find the--" Kumiko suddenly gasped covering her mouth with both hands, "Did I kill him...? Were my two slaps so powerful that it affected his brain and he died?!" Kumiko then sat on her knees in front of the man and starts bowing repeatedly. At this point she spoke so fast it all sounded like a bunch of sentences mushed into one, "I'msorryI'msorryI'msorryI'msorrypleaseforgiveme!ItwasanaccidentIswearIwasjusttryingtowakeyouupcauseIwastryingtobesocialforonceIknowweonlyjustmetbutpleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseforgivemeeeeeee!" Kumiko kept going on and on; it didn't seem like she'd ever stop.
As Kumiko went on, purple marks appeared on the man's face just as he opened his eyes. He sat up from the tree as he stretched a bit before turning his attention to the rapid bowing Kumiko. He couldn't help but snicker before bursting out laughing for a few seconds and then pulling himself together quickly, "Uh, hey there."
Kumiko screamed like the girl she was("KYAAAAH") as her arms suddenly flailed around and then rolled on the ground fast, slamming into the tree across from them as a reaction to the 'jump scare', "O-Oh n-n-n-n-noooooo now you're gonna haunt me!" Kumiko was almost on the verge of crying as she trembled in fear curled up in a ball on the floor up against and facing the wall.
"Uh...you wouldn't have happen to thought I was dead did you? Cause as you can see," the man couldn't help but chuckle a bit in mid-sentence, "That isn't the case," the man was still chuckling a bit as he was scratching the back of his head. Kumiko suddenly went still and stopped making noise. "You see, what I was doing was using an astral projection jutsu...where I can kinda...seperate my soul from my physical body and explore... It's uh...part of my kekkei genkai..." the man chuckled again once more. He was finding it funny at first but he got just a little nervous as he spoke.
"...What." Kumiko spoke with a suddenly changed mood to serious, almost dark. The man kept scratching the back of his head as he finally stood up, now nervously laughing.
Kumiko rolled on the ground back towards him and as she approached beneath him she gives him an uppercut to the chin as she leaped up to her feet. "Anyways, I'm Hideki MatsuoKAA!!" Hideki exclaimed, the last syllable was shouted out because well, he was in pain from getting an uppercut to the chin, "WHAT WAS THAT FOR?"
"YOU SCARED ME!" Kumiko yelled back. Her expression was now totally angry instead of upset and worried.
Hideki slightly waved his hands around, trying to calm Kumiko down, "I'm sorry I'm sorry! Really! If it makes it any better, there's a way to tell the difference!"
Kumiko sighed, turning away from him, "It's fine. Just, carry on." Kumiko began to walk away; she believed that was enough for one day.
"O-Oh..." Hideki looked to the side in thought just before looking to Kumiko again, "H-Hey!" he got her attention as Kumiko stopped and looked at him over her shoulder. "What's your name?" Hideki asked. Kumiko just looked at him for a couple of seconds in silence. "I-I didn't quite catch it..." Hideki rubbed the back of his head again before Kumiko sighs.
"Kumiko Nagahama," she responded.
It may or may not seem like it, but not only is this the start of a friendship but it is also a foreshadowing of love. Yes, this is basically a love-hate relationship. Yes, they eventually get along better than this. And winding up on the same team together only made it better...and funnier.

After a long time of knowing each other, sharing deep feelings, fighting alongside each other, arguing with each other, and comforting each other through grief, the two soon and finally realize that they were in love with each other. Yea, it took long enough. Within a matter of time they get married--with Kumiko marrying into the Matsuoka clan of course--and they even had children together. They have a daughter who they name Lana, who has her mother's auburn hair and her father's brown eyes, and then a son named Hirito who was four years apart from Lana, he had his father's dark brown hair and his mother's blue eyes. Although this is where the happiness ends, however, this isn't where the story ends just yet. When Lana was twelve and Hirito was eight, Hideki was aiding in Lana's training and Hirito had come just to watch. They were training, or rather sparring, by a cliff and had to be very cautious to not fall off. If you know where this is going, you can probably guess that someone wasn't cautious enough. Long story short, Hirito tripped first just as Hideki grabbed his hand before he fell but as that happened he wound up hanging from the cliff with Lana holding onto Hideki and trying to pull him up. With both of Hideki and Hirito's weight combined, Lana wasn't able to pull them back up and there was hardly anyone else around. Lana held on to them for as long as she could until they finally slipped from her hands. They fell, and it was a long, long fall. Lana raced around down to the bottom hoping in the slightest miracle that they would be alive, only to confirm the opposite. Lana felt it was completely her fault; it was because of her Hirito came so close to the edge in the first place. When she came home late that night, teary faced, Kumiko is of course mourning in sadness and anger but it's almost like she is blaming Lana. Now you're probably thinking, but they're Matsuokas' right? They can see ghosts, right? They can just see them and still talk to them, right? Well it's not that simple. Remember that tradition where they are not allowed to interact with a ghost who has recently passed unless the ghost does the interacting or until ten years? They still do that. Not only that, but Kumiko married into the Matsuoka clan. Technically, since she's from another clan, she can't see ghosts. Lana could look for them, and she has tried, but she wasn't able to find them for an odd reason. Ever since this happened, the relationship between Lana and Kumiko have, well, decreased a bit.

So that's the current family status. To this day Lana still blames herself for what happened and can't help herself but bare herself responsible. Lana is now a chunin as tries to move forward, but is she really moving anywhere?
@Akayaofthemoon
I'm so sorry about what happened Akaya. I know I don't talk in OOC that much but I just wanted to show that I care and support. I (sort of) went through a similar thing a couple years ago, sometimes we can all have times like this and I just want you to know that I'm also here for you too. If you ever need to talk know that I'll also be hear to listen and, although I wish I could give you a real one, I'm always up for virtual internet hugs. You do what you need to do to take care of yourself, no rush. I hope things get better.

*hugs*
Zircon walked a little slower, as if she wasn't walking slow as it is, as she looked over her shoulder to look at Emerald to let him catch up. Even if she is with the group, she still planned to stay extremely local to the area. Well in other words it could just be simply be said that Zircon wasn't leaving like Aquamarine said not to. Zircon looked back forward and still kept walking a little slow, processing what Emerald said in response to what she said and thought about it. Despite the pause Zircon soon spoke her response while keeping an eye out for the trigger, "Well...I'm not really saying there actually will be anything that blows up...let alone whether it will be hard to find or not. So I guess it's kind of wrong of me to say that. On the blowing up part at least. I kind of...wasn't being serious on that one," she paused for a second, realizing how her last statement either sounded awkward or wrong in some way. She wanted to make an awkward kind of laugh, but she felt like that would make herself sound more awkward. Well, it would have been an awkward laugh so why wouldn't it. "I was more-or-so trying to be..." Zircon paused for another quick couple of seconds to think of the right word, "...'Witty'...I guess. So uh...my bad..." Zircon scratched the back of her head. She did feel a little wrong for saying there's a possibility of explosions, especially if she wasn't serious about it. In a way she might have been presuming. In a way. Maybe. It was real soon when Emerald spotted something and pointed to it; Zircon swiftly aimed her gaze towards it. She stared at it from whatever distance they were from it before starting to walk close up to it, "Only one way to find out," she spoke in a determined but very much mostly a curious tone. As she approached the odd thing in the wall she gently traced her hand around it, just feeling it and making sure she doesn't move it. At least not yet if they actually were to move it or anything later. Zircon took her hand off and then looked to Emerald, "You think this is it?"

Kita narrowed her eyes into a glare as Katze sort of made it sound like she was an idiot. Kita saw it coming though so it didn't faze her. She mostly expected that the metals she picked out wouldn't be the one; it was a total long-shot. But that only helps complete the process of elimination now, doesn't it? When Katze poofed into smoke it took Kita awhile to realize what he was doing, but she didn't realize soon enough to counter. She attempted to swing a sword horizontally behind her but the swing didn't even make it halfway when she was grabbed and tossed towards Nyra. As she was spiraling in the air she threw her swords towards Katze at the right moment. Well, towards him yes but since it would really have no effect on him it's not like she tried to aim. She threw them more like a distraction; not like it would work. The two swords landed stabbed through the grass before they poof into tiny floating red particles, being 'un-summoned'. After slamming into Nyra and winding up on the ground, Kita gets up after being nudged by Nyra's wing just in time to see Katze get sent flying into a tree. Heh. Look who just got tossed now. Kita watched Nyra jump at Katze before she could ask her if she's alright. Welp, she looks alright. It wasn't that long until Kita noticed Emmett slouched over. Kita watched him for a few seconds before cussing under her breath; she almost knew where this was going. Kita rushed up to behind Emmett and stopped about a foot away from him, "Emmett!" she yelled out to him in an admonishing tone, the warning kind. She didn't want to get physical with Emmett, but considering that the only thing that can touch Katze is whatever just him and Nyra is right beside Katze where she can get caught up in the riot Kita was concerned that things might not go well. Kita stood there ready to make a move, keeping an eye on Emmett but watching Nyra and Katze at the same time back and forth between the three.
Zircon relaxed her position and nodded to Aquamarine before she departed in a rush for the other gems. Zircon planned to follow the request as ordered with nothing added and nothing altered. Zircon did worry about the other gems in potential danger but she decided to just focus at the task given at hand. The task: find the trigger to the staircase. Zircon stood up from the grass and stretched her neck before putting a hand on her right hip and the other scratching behind her head. Her eyes scanned around the area from where she stood, considering that the trigger could be hidden or maybe right in the open? Or something like that? Possibly? Hmm? "Trigger to the staircase..." she repeated to herself once in a mumble before softly clicking her tongue in thought. She dropped her arms loosely to her side as she looked to the remaining gems around her, "Aight guys, we have a trigger to find. If it's funny looking that's probably it. If not then it's either nothing or it's something that'll blow up in your face considering what we've run into before," Zircon started to slowly walk around looking, either expecting to be followed or if they decide to go some other direction she would most likely go follow them instead. Zircon would prefer sticking together for now even if it is just to find something, thinking-ahead wise at least.
Kita landed with a knee and fist to the ground and looked up at Katze, only to see that absolutely none of the attacks were able to do a thing. Kita gritted her teeth, "Fuckin' 'ell!" she yelled out. Ok. Special metal. What the hell could that be? And considering this guy's an alien, is it even a metal anyone can access on earth? Kita glanced at Emmett when he stated that whatever the metal is should be found; an obvious objective. Thing is, where to start? Kita wanted to think fast, so she did. "I'm gonna start a process of elimination!" Kita shouted out. She crossed her arms in a wide X-position with her hands in a position like tiger claws as two blood red circles with stars in it appears in the air right in front of her hands to summon a bronze sword for her left hand and then an iron one for her right hand. Weak material swords, yes, but Kita was going somewhere with this. Since there's nowhere to start, she might as well start with the basic metals they know of. Kita totally had her doubts that these metals would even be anything close, but it wouldn't matter if it's not the right metal because they have to hold off Katze anyway; at least two things will sort of be in progress. Kita grinds the swords together while doing a scissor slash with the swords in the air in front of her before she flips the bronze sword in her left hand to hold it backhanded. Kita then straight out dashes at Katze, expecting him to attack first for her to dodge and counter. If Katze doesn't do that, for whatever reason, Kita will have to improvise.
