Name: Gaelden Osdum
Race: Human
Age: 25
Place of Birth: Ord Mantell, Avilatan
Brief History: Gaelden was born on the Mid Rim planet of Ord Mantell, the primary financial and trading hub in the Bright Jewel Sector. When he was young, the boy was discovered to be Force Sensitive, albeit rather slight. In an attempt to take the child in to become a Jedi, one was sent to persuade them in the collection of their son, with the promise of a potential life as a Jedi; if not, a member of the Service Corps. Outraged due to their anti-Force users beliefs (for the Force was an entirely taboo thing to them), they sent the Jedi away with only a knowledge of new profane words. He would later grow up to never knowing of his Force Sensitivity. As the son of a mechanic and retired Republic Naval officer from the early days of the Clone Wars, Gaelden grew up with stories of interplanetary events completely foreign to the small life that he knew. Encouraging his son to take up service, much of Gaelden's early life was spent on physical labor and other menial tasks to hone his body. When there was no work to be done, his father taught him how to shoot a blaster and how to pilot (albeit only the basics), and his mother gave him lessons on the correct way to handle a machine.
At some point, Gaelden found himself with enough enthusiasm to head to his local Imperial Recruiting Station with the hopes of becoming one of many TIE pilots. Like his parents, he was an Imperial loyalist, and he had been eager to serve the Empire from it's earliest days (of course, most of his loyalty stemmed from his parents viewpoints.) Unfortunately, while he was able to pass the physical requirements like a breeze, he was unable to meet the intellectual standards, for all he knew was how to shoot, fly, and fix. Disheartened, he returned home without a single thought of what to do. That was when he felt a calling - something, like an invisible entity, began to pull him from inside. With new determination, he left his home with a small loan of credits, a ship, and a blaster by his side.
Today, he uses his 'gut feelings' to find ancient relics and artifacts in abandoned and archaic temples for hefty credits. Albeit illegal to own anything related to Jedi or to even hunt down such things, Gaelden's bitter feelings for his inability to gain entry into the Imperial Navy have never left him - not even his belief in the Empire is enough to shake his frustration.
Skills
- Adequate Pilot - To get to where you need to go, you have to learn how to fly (or have a check on a hefty sum of credits ready for travelling.) Though nowhere near an Ace, let alone a skilled flyer, Gaelden has learned from experience how to get himself out of a tough spot when the time comes.
- No Stranger to Firefights - From Imperial Security to pirates, Gaelden has seen it all. With a quick hand and his 'gut feeling', Gaelden has made decisive shots from left to right. This has gained him a small reputation in the underground; luckily enough, he's got the skills (or luck) to back it up.
- 'She Ain't Pretty, but She's Tough' - Plenty of damaged ship parts means plenty of time to get handy. Thanks to his mother's teachings, he's gotten himself a nice start on becoming a mechanic...albeit rather basic. Over time, his skill has improved, but a helping hand is always needed. He'd much rather have someone with actual skills in repairs to take care of his ship, but when you can do it yourself (even if it does mean a few explosive sparks to the face) versus having to clean out your bank account, the answer can be quite obvious - at least to Gaelden, anyways.
