It has been millenia since the founding of Haven, a vast superstructure of questionable utility to its creators. over time colonists have arrived, shaping the habitable surfaces of the structure into mighty empires...at least...what they thought of as mighty empires. There is a little bit of everything on Haven now. Vast cities, starports, warlords, nomads, even pirates and monsters.
It is hard to say when things fell into decline, the earthquakes started about a century ago, the infrastucture of Haven seems to be falling apart. Mystics who communed with Haven claim this process started long long ago, they claimed that the world was sick. Now the servitors that tirelessly maintained the structure have been constructing unusual things, tearing apart the old world to make something terrifying.
The chaos on Haven has attracted "The Inheritors of The Pursuer" a clan of space-pirates who seek to claim the failing station for their own uses. meanwhile panic has spread throughout the streets as some citizens have displayed erratic behavior. In the turmoil the city of Khento has deployed increased security measures causing additional unrest. The Pirates are now attempting to liberate the city, bombs fell, buildings collapsed. The citizens must do what they can to survive.
---- So this is my speel for a far future sci-fi RP, I would prefer for it to use some kind of simple tabletop rules, but if you guys prefer casual, thats fine too. I'm open for any questions you may have.
We could also do this as a nation rp, tone down some of the apocalyptic elements and each player plays a faction on Haven.
Nice looking setup @Lucidnonsense. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. To answer your question, it is not an exact science. If you were to back me into a corner and demand a number, depends how large the ship is and how large the equipment is, factoring in the need to carry consumables and spares aboard ship as well. Drones? IDK. Say 200?
Drones come in a variety of sizes, some of them are like little more than a tiny engine with some equipment attacked to them, others actually have guns, some are more utility based, like construction robots.
Name: PCV Silent Deuteragonist Class:Mirage Type: Point Capture Vehicle. Affiliation:Commonwealth Military Instrumentality Role: Mothership, establishment of outposts, creation of infrastructure for long term operations, information warfare. Passengers: 28 who are not considered part of Silent Deuteragonist Personality: Silent Deuteragonist is often times a serious and stern being, while it tolerates jokes it rarely makes them. It considers war to be very serious business and prefers to get it over with as quickly as possible, even if that means increasing casualties of combatatents, it prefers to avoid non-combatent casualties. It only cares for its life based on utility towards bringing about peace. Red tape frustrates it, but it understands its utility. Outside of Combat Silent Deuteragonist is much more sociable and often speaks under a different name.
Weapon systems: Drones Warp drive: Requires time to charge in order to weaponize, vast amounts of energy required force field: Generally best for close range, but can be used for a few long ranged applications antimatter flechettes: Only keeps a small amount of ammunition generated at any given time Coherent radiation weapons:while lacking the punch of more exotic weapons, they are highly versatile Aurora Shield system gravitic field cannons: while powerful, takes time to charge missiles Mirage ECM and stealth systems Effectors:fairly short range Quantum confusion weapons:exprimental a factory, Takes time to use but can replenish drone supplies
Auxilerary craft: Four Wyrvern class Weapon platforms 1 overseers yacht 6 transports for evacuating civilians a very large amount of drones
Name: Iadox, its name among other Ophanim is much longer.
Race:
The Ophanim, in early days compared to angels, are not a true species but rather the collective designation for the members and descendants of the Ophan civilization. The ancestors of the Ophan embraced the creation of artificial life much more readily than most civilizations. The early Ophanim were seen as children of the species, carrying on the Torch of the supposedly dying world (how much the world was dying is historically vague as supposedly the Ophanim contacted the parent planet at a later date and made the world part of the growing civilization). Ophanim come in many different shapes, sizes and mental capabilities and often have modify these traits throughout life, over the years the very identity of an Ophanim changes almost as if it is a whole new person. In general the Ophanim consider the distinction between Machine and Organic to be arbitrary (though exceptions exist).
As a Civilization, Most of the Ophan civilization is aligned with the Luminous Arc however they have many different cultures and subcultures with different loyalties. The empire most people think of when they hear the word Ophan is generally translated as "The Living Network of the Roads of Samsara" The Living Network is an economic and technological powerhouse sometimes incorrectly classified as a hivemind. The government can be described as a fairly decentralized network and is an intelligent being in its own right. Those that connect to the network to aid in its decision making retain individuality.
Age: Has given inconsistent answers depending on how the question is worded, officially 216
Gender: Generally doesn't apply to Ophanim
Appearance: Form has some degree of flexibility, hard to say whether it is organic or synthetic the answer is probably "yes"
Homeworld: Spent most of its life on Ynnity Installation, a large voidstation.
Alignment: The Ophan as a civilization are most closely aligned to Chaotic Negentropic as they take inanimate material from the environment and convert it into technology and do so with some degree of efficiency. Iadox is fairly neutral, sometimes working to advance entropy by finding methods by which dangerous negentropic beings may be destroyed while also improving knowledge.
Role: Scientist with some engineer thrown in.
Skills: Iadox has a good head for arcane phenomenon and technology that utilizes it, It has senses and instruments to analyze magic. Like many Ophanim Iadox is hard to kill and possesses some degree of ability to self-modify, these changes take time effort and energy to complete however. Given its previous dealings with "Demonic" entities Iadox has potent defenses against magical/psionic effects.
History: W.I.P, Former worker on a space installation, wanted to explore the universe, highly curious about the Nova dawn and lived among Ophan "Punks" for 17 years in training.
Personality: Iadox is highly curious about the world around it. It tends to have multiple plans of action at any given time and feels the need to have explanations for every event. Generally believes that honesty is useful as it builds trust. Enjoys bits and pieces of various pop-cultures and is a gamer and cinaphile
Other: Anything I forgot that you feel is relevant.
Hi. Ummmmm... like... ummm welcome. But... Like I totes ummm... I have no idea what you just said to me.
Soooo like ummm... °~°; Aaaaaahhhhh!! ~flees~
~daBumba Returns with @Dead Cruiser and plops it down~ HERE!! Its for you!!
K @Lucidnonsense this is the brain you want not me! Go on. Break it with your questions about that hottie Negasonic Teenage Warhead or wutevs you said to me!
Would A Berserker Von-Neumann probe converting the entire universe into copies of itself be considered good or evil? because technically it is acting against entropy :p
I'm almost done with my character, decided to go for less demon-hunter and more Arcane-Scientist who spent a stint as a safety inspector on a space habitat that was dangerously close to some kind of malevolent space horror. "This food dispensor is out of order because the 'food' it dispenses is actually demons"
Yeah right on bruh! Drop off an appie here but like keep in mind some kinda poaition you could fill on the Nova dawn too right? ^^
Also how long is a universal standard year? is it like metric time? also, would alignment be for the culture the character is a part of or the character itself. as while the characters culture is Clearly negentropy, it spent its time dealing with Negentropic beings that were trying to consume its civilization.
So I was thinking Entropic (killing the demons) Static (preventing its civilization from being converted into demons that would seek to turn more things into demons)
I think you'll have to abide by the laws and regulations passed. Stuff like that. But on the same side of things, you can vote in the Conclave. My faction is very touchy since it will be questionable as to whether it can abide by the rules.
I think I might be in a similar situation. What happens if a civilization refuses to perform an action that is seen as a horrendous moral atrocity within its ethics system.
