Can't beat my own demons, so I beat up fictional ones instead. It's fun!

Something about winter makes me want to curl up on the couch, wrap myself in a blanket, and join way more RPs than I have time for.

This is the kind of site where you think about it every day even if you haven't actually done anything here for months. Or is that just me?

Bio
Luminosity
Hey there! Thanks for stopping by. I'm Luminosity, but feel free to call me Lumi or Lum. If you're here, I suppose that means you have some interest in me, my writing, or in roleplaying with me. Here's a bit about me and my preferences. In general, if you want to talk, about RPing or anything else, just shoot me a PM. I always try to make time for new friends.
About Me
Basics I'm in my 20s, female, and currently trying to figure out how that whole "being an adult" thing works. I've been roleplaying on this site for a while off and on, but in general I've been roleplaying for over ten years, here and there. I'm on US Central Time currently.
Writing Level My writing level on this site varies from casual to advanced, though the sweet spot is usually around 3-5 paragraphs per post. If I'm feeling inspired I tend to write kinda long posts, so be warned. I've never been a free-level roleplayer, and writing that little per post is typically something that makes me lose interest.
Activity I love RPing, but I am busy quite often, and so my posting rate will vary. Sometimes I'll be able to post multiple times a day, and sometimes I won't be able to post more than once a week. Please keep this in mind if you'd like to RP with me. Also that more applies to 1x1's, I do my best to be consistent if I'm joining a group RP. My normal writing times for RP are first thing in the morning or somewhat late at night, but sometimes I can squeeze posts in during the afternoon.
Preferences I'm mostly into fantasy RPs with a good dose of adventure and action, especially dark fantasy settings. In terms of mature content, I prefer a certain level of realism, and I'm totally fine with language and gore (I actually really like writing fight scenes). I'm happy to write romance, but I really prefer not to force it or have it be the main focus of a roleplay, but rather something that happens naturally if it feels right for my character. I've never written smut/sex scenes without fading to black, and it's not something I'm especially interested in trying. I enjoy group RPs as well as 1x1's, and while I've GMed in the past, I don't do it very often now, due to stress and time constraints.
I really only RP as female characters here, as that's just my personal preference. I write all kinds in lots of genres in my personal work, but I RP here to simply write what I enjoy most. I'm fine with taking on minor characters or NPCs of any gender if the RP needs it, though.
Games
Do You Play League of Legends? I used to! You can probably guess who my favorite champion is. I haven't played in a long time, though, since I was never very good and ran into one too many unpleasant online experiences. I still follow the game for all of the amazing art and characters it produces, and I'm interested in the upcoming titles in that universe that aren't MOBAs.
So What Do You Play? Lately? Apex Legends, Mortal Kombat 11, Final Fantasy (VII, VII Remake, VIII, XII, a real FF trip lately), and Resident Evil 3. Honestly, not a lot lately, just haven't had the time/interest in anything for a bit.
That's about it! Thanks for the interest, and if you want to get in touch, don't hesitate to send a PM my way. See you around :)

"Fair enough," Persephone answered lightly, not pressing Lucan with any more questions. He had avoided answering her as to his reasons for being in town which, as she had told him, was a fair response. Seph was honest and forthcoming, but she did not expect everyone she met to be the same. Her worldly experiences taught her that people often had a great deal to hide, and it also taught her that not all of it was harmful.
Indeed, she had not told him the entirety of what she'd been doing in town, what she did in every town she visited of late, because it was a personal matter close to her heart, one that had little to do with the lives of these people. Her intentions in questioning Lucan had merely been to try to discern if meant any ill will towards the people of the town, whom Seph had a fairly good impression of. Of course, he would not likely tell a woman robed in white if his intentions were wicked. At least he had not lied to her. His omission of an answer would earn him a watchful eye, and no more.
Figuring she'd lingered on the subject of Lucan's activities long enough, Seph's eyes wandered to the man with the impressive hat wandering the floor of the tavern, not-so-subtly eavesdropping on anyone he saw fit. She had not yet had the chance to speak with him, nor did she know what he did around Salarn. It seemed an odd thing, though, to simply go around listening to conversations without involving himself.
"What do you make of that one?" she asked Lucan, lifting a finger from her mug to point briefly at the man. "The one with the rotund hat." She took a long drink of her ale, wondering why he wore such a thing indoors.

"Lucan," Persephone said to herself. "It's nice to meet you." She slid down into the seat across from him, draping one leg over the other beneath the table and taking a quick drink. She leaned back against the seat comfortably.
"It's curiosity, mostly," she said, cocking her head slightly sideways. "The celebration is from the result of the orc raid earlier. There's a bit of a war on, you know." The corner of her lips quirked up in a small smirk. "The fighting was rough, judging by the state of the wounded, but the raiders were driven off. Thus... celebration." She raised her glass briefly, and took another drink.
"I came for my work mostly, as a healer. Armed conflicts always need more. So far I've only been paid with ale and a bed, but the ale at least isn't so bad." She'd tried some truly disgusting swill in seedy taverns of Ravens Bluff and beyond, making this little establishment seem positively spectacular in comparison. "As for the bed, haven't tried that yet." If it was softer than the hard ground, it would be just fine.
"I'm curious about you, though. What brings you out to this little edge of the war zone?" She leaned forward slightly and propped her elbows on the table, sipping her drink while she watched the man, Lucan, and his charming smile.
(Always open, though how busy I am varies greatly and may affect being able to take on more partners.)
Hi everyone, Lumi here, looking for some partners for a thing I used to do here a while back. Thought I'd make a new thread for it in the 1x1 section for a fresh start. Even though there's a lot of combat involved, I'd say it's narratively driven enough to warrant putting it in the 1x1 section. Also there's more traffic here, so there's that.
Here's how it works: we set up a narrative, probably a simple enough one to start, that sees a hero character (me) go up against a series of opponents (you) in an effort to complete some goal. The RPs are primarily fights, but the fights are all connected by some kind of storyline that my character has to unravel to give it all some context. Some examples of dungeon crawls I've done (and completed) in the past include:
A student of magic being trapped in an ancient tomb on an expedition, and trying to escape (made it out of that one alive)
An adventurer arriving in an empty village and trying to figure out what happened to all the townsfolk (actually got eaten by a giant summoned monster at the end of that one)
A monster hunter being hired to deal with some sort of beasts plaguing a town from the woods (made off with a nice supply of gold that time)
An elven adventurer sent to investigate a wizard's tower, and the strange experiments supposedly happening there (managed to clear out the whole tower)
Even a demi-god type character, being trapped by a demon of sorts, and forced to fight creatures in his arena (didn't survive that one, unfortunately)
So you can see that the narratives don't have to be very complicated, and you can also see that my character doesn't survive all of them. The fights are a lot more fun I find if there's some possibility for death, especially later on in the crawl. Usually the first enemies aren't the toughest, but by the end it isn't at all easy to win. The above crawls were all around 3-4 encounters or stages, though obviously some varied. I've mostly played fantasy settings, but I'm not opposed to sci-fi or even modern settings. Just not too big on guns.
The idea is to have fun fighting against wicked stuff you can come up with (I do enjoy delving through and fighting against pretty dark stuff), and have short, concise stories that actually come to some resolution. I'm looking for people that can post at least one good paragraph or more per post. I have trouble working with free level RPers. Posting rate, I would like if you could post once a day, slightly less is fine, more is great.
Let me know below or in a PM if this sounds interesting to you, and we can set up something up. I prefer to do the 1x1s through PM. If you have any questions, or just wanna talk to me about something, I'm all ears.

"The ale is thanks enough," Seph said with a grin, taking hold of the pint and drinking deeply. Her mannerisms were hardly delicate; growing up on the rough streets of Ravens Bluff had not conditioned her to be that way. And despite her smaller stature and her young age, Seph was able to hold her drink quite well. The benefits of starting early, she supposed. It often popularized her with common folk, she found, when she proved she was not some dainty, self-absorbed girl who had separated herself from society, but a commoner and a street-experienced citizen, like themselves. Perhaps her manner would have been different had she been able to continue her training, but fate had seen it otherwise.
Turning around on the bar stool, Seph placed her back against the countertop, putting her elbows up on the surface, and perching one foot on the lower rung of the stool. At ease, she surveyed the growing crowd of patrons with a seemingly permanent half-smile etched on her features. Her eyes caught the gaze of a younger militiaman, one of those that she had saved earlier in the day. She smiled at him, and he reddened, grinning boyishly back and returning to his game of dice. Seph was well aware that the man had some attraction to her, but he also had a wife, and she had been most thankful for Seph's healing services as well.
There were a few of the newer arrivals, including two men she had not yet noticed throughout the day. They didn't appear to be part of the militia. Rising, Seph carried her drink over to the one at a booth alone. He was handsome and he looked quite able. His isolation struck her as odd. She leaned an arm against the opposite end of the booth from him.
"Drinking alone, are we? On a night of celebration like this?" she grinned, somewhat teasingly. "I'm new here, I don't believe we've met. I'm Persephone." She extended her free hand out to the man.

"So you have no idea what this is, then?" Seph asked, holding out the dull, dark amber stone in her palm. She already knew the answer, but it was worth hearing. She only needed one time to be different.
"I'm afraid not, dear," the jeweler, an old white-haired man, said. He looked apologetic, which was all the evidence Seph needed to guess he was telling the truth. What cause would he have to lie to her? "You might try the apothecary, though? Perhaps he will know more."
"Already did," Seph said, closing her fingers around the stone and sliding it back into its soft leather pouch. The pouch she dropped into a small bag clipped to the side of her belt. She nodded, tapping the jeweler's counter top lightly and reaching two fingers into another pouch. "Thank you anyway. For your time," she flipped a single coin through the air, into the old man's hand. He nodded and smiled as Seph departed.
The air was unseasonably humid, causing Seph to tug at the neck of her robe as she walked. It had been a long day. The young healer and would-be monk had arrived in Salarn earlier that day, just after the day's raid from the orcs. Though she had not participated, Seph was quick to lend her services in the aftermath. Many were injured in the fighting. Some were too far gone to be saved by her own modest skills, but others were more fortunate. More than a few of those that had fought only still lived because of her efforts.
In all, it was enough to earn her free drinks and a place to stay at the inn for as long as she needed. Such kindness was not uncommon, Seph found, when skilled healing services were freely offered, especially in times of war. Seph graciously accepted, and vowed to not entirely drain their stores of ale and wine. In fact it was only now that her work was finished and her questions asked for the day, that Seph finally allowed herself to relax, and entered the inn.
The mood inside immediately drew a smile to her lips, and she made her way to the bar, settling sideways on a stool and catching the eye of the boisterous gnome serving drinks. "I think it's well past time I had a pint. How about it?"
